ive actually had the pleasure to work with mike cole , hes one of my favorites even though i do totally opposite work and no where near his level.. its amazing what these guys can do with a ball point pen straight on the skin.. and then sit there hours upon hours of tatten...Wow love some of that work throttle...especially mike cole...incredible!!
Thanks, beautiful. Actually I'd like to take another crack at portraiture- would you mind if I drew you got my portfolio?
Today's design. If it gets the go-ahead $100 is coming my way
Oh hi there x I'm not a tattooist, I just take people's requests for designs. My natural style is VERY VERY sketchy so yes you are completely correct. I usually ink these things then clean them up on the computer or the tattooist does a neater trace. I'm only doing this to make a bit of money whilst at university. Thankyou very much for your input though. I know I'm not the best. I'm a general visual artist and a jack of all trades... My time is spent playing 5 instruments, riding horses, doing gym, ballet, figure skating, making costumes and a bunch of other shit lol Maybe if I only did one thing I would seriously consider being a tattooist but I will leave it to the professionals. I just let people come to me for designs if they like my style. I'd love to see more of your work though, master :3Heres my take as a now retired tattooist.
El throttle is bluntly saying what he thinks and sees as a tattooist. His approach and attitude is kind of the norm in the industry, ive seen it and lived it. I used to be the same, its hard not to be after any real time in the industry. Its kinda hard for people outside the industry to understand I guess. As a tattooist I probably had an average of 3-5 people a week seeking an apprenticeship, this is a competitive career from upstart apprentices all the way up to the big dogs. Ive seen and covered up/fixed more jacked up tattoos than I care to remember. If these flash designs were tattooed as is they all would need to be reworked by a competent artist.
I would have offered more constructive criticism to the OP. IMO the flash posted is "OK" not great but not completely horrid either. It could definitely use some cleaning up, the line work is kinda shaky and doesnt flow that well. There are visible starts/stops in some of the lines. To me its a good start, some time on cleaning up the lines and flow would be time well spent.
To the OP:
Very nice start with your flash, keep working on that . Youre not ready to tattoo yet. Unless you have a mentor really showing you how to tattoo and maintain a sanitary environment and tools youre making it much more difficult on yourself. Put together a portfolio of your art and seek a tattoo apprenticeship. You will learn more in 2 weeks as an apprentice than in a year on your own. You have some raw skills, an apprenticeship can really take you to the next level.
kuroi, im a leo, do you think you could maybe find some time to sketch up something like the wolf but a lion instead,, they have a tribal feel to them and i really like it.. you have some skills hit me up in a pm we can discuss pymt u take all forms of green?Indeed, as I posted I'm setting up on Tattoo.com and CreateMyTattoo. What did you have in mind?
You drew this? I like it kuroi, I don't particularly like tattoo's but I like your rendition a lot!, well done you little talented thing.like this one ...nice art work kuroi
How NICE of you! Everyone has to start somewhere. My old man had tens of tattoo's done when he was young by George bones, acton. 25 years later he got his last tattoo also done by bonesie, the difference is like night and day. Even bonesie recognised (and probably felt embarrassed) his old work, bonesie by the way is a master, though his early works, err! No thank you! As said everyone must start somewhere, and kuroi is fairly talented, horses are renowned to be the hardest to draw, full stop! Kuroi done well. In time she'll improve then if she persists, she'll be shit hot.all this shit here sucks! you guys are kidding yourselfs and anyone that doesnt know real work.....
