I'm just curious. It looks like you put a lot of thought into it. I've never considered raised platforms on either side with a vertical light. With a horizontal, light is reflected so it increases foot candles. How does the vertical effect light candles, that is my question. Great design though. I'm now considering platforms with yoyos attached to all 4 corners so I can raise or lower them
1) It can only be so bright or the plants don't like it anyway (bleaching).
2) It doesn't really increase ft candles because that is directly proportional to plant position and can be the same for either. Vertical lights plant tend to be able to get closer because they don't run near as hot.
3) Reflecting is inefficient.
4) You can have 2-4x as many plants with one bulb receiving the same lumens as those using a reflector would have.

Hope this helps you out bro :leaf:

Ive seen a "heath" set up with one 600 hitting on average 38 oz per harvest. Which is fuckin insane! It's a slightly different design, more circular. But still yields great. This is my first run with this system so I have o idea what to expect on yields. Hoping in the neighborhood of 2-3 p's per 2-3 weeks.

Yeah the room is completely sealed. That's why I'm stubbing the smell on the inside, because if I don't it'll slowly build up.
I've seen Heath hit 47oz with one of his better systems. Some of his systems are better than others just due to the oxygen content from the water as far as I can tell.

I'm not really trying to experiment with bulbs until I get my system dialed in. Gotta remember this is my first vertical grow.
Now that I think about it your right, you should just stick with HPS until you get things dialed in, then once your comfortable add one of the 860W Philips CDM lamps right in the middle, preferably between your HPS lamps, then compare the results/yield/potency to your HPS grow/s, I guarantee you'll see better results with the added CDM lamp, they produce a fuller & better spectrum than any other HID lamp, especially for growing.

Yeah I wouldn't mind tryin it out, the new type of bulbs.. The light is roughly a little lower then the top of the first bucket. Reason why I did it at that height is because the bulbs drop down like another 1 1/2 foot. An covers the middle perfect, an the top row and bottom row look like they are still gettin good coverage. Although I'm still dialing it in, so I may drop one bulb lower then the other an see which one is obviously doing better.

So far the biggest issue I'm having with this set up is remembering to rotate the plants lol. Plus it's a lot more work each day maintaining these numbers.

You know this has been an issue for years, Ive heard this discussed time and time again and yet the only product available is the Sun Tracker Plant Carousel (-->CLICK HERE<--), it seems like a pretty good product, however it only has two settings, 1 or 2 revolutions a week, I mean Really? Anybody can easily turn their plants once or twice a week, I'm mean I'm sure that's fine for house plants in your windowsill but for growing cannabis, especially in a kick ass stadium setup like you have, I would think you would want at least 1 revolution a day, why wouldn't they put a setting for 1 revolution a day?
I did come across this video where a guy builds the perfect plant rotator, however he doesn't mention if he's selling them and I really don't want to try to build one, if anybody can build them with a setting of at least 1 revolution a day I'm sure a lot of people would buy them, if the price is right I sure would, check it out: (-->CLICK HERE<--)

I like the idea of something rotating my plants, but I've found out the more technology advanced products I use the more hassle it is to assemble them or they tend to fuck up a lot. Like my controller bucket, I had to return it 3 times.. Ended up killing 36 big ass plants. :(
Anywho, on my next male I'll be starting a breeding project. I have some bag seeds from a good buddy of mine who just passed away at the yound age of 27 from a tragic accident.. The seeds were from his personal garden as well so the first male I get I will cross with my blue dream or my master kush. Depends on pheno type and bud structure.

I also got the dehumidifier ba k up an going. An the new cuts are lookin great. I'll be taking some time off so I'll post some pictures in a week or so.
Stay safe everyone.

Thanks man. Yeah that's the way I feel.. I'll probably even name the strain after him.. If I never met him I would be half the grower I am today.. Anywho, the preflowers are shooting out now. Lookin all pretty. I don't have my camera available for another for a minute, so when I get some new pics up it'll be some baby bud porn ;)

So I just transplanted another 16 plants into the room. Right now I got 60 plants under 1x1000 which is unheard of if I was growing the same way still. I got 56 on the shelves an 4 Layin around. My next transplant will be another 30. For a total of 90 under 2x1000. Looks so beautiful right now. My seedlings are doing good still. The og and og 18 looked a little fucked up an mutate when they started but now it's new set is lookin cool on both of em.

I can't seem to find the thread but a guy with a very similar vertical setup has his hanging lights on a linear mover, he says it allows him to get the lights closer and it produces better results, I imagine that would work fantastic if you used a combo of HPS + CDM, 1 x 860W Philips CDM in the middle and two 1000W HPS on either side, all moving back and forth on a mover, I imagine that setup would fucking ROCK!

Lol, you really want me to run that bulb don't you?
LOL, well yes I do but not just yet, first I want you to run just what you were planning to run, which I believe was just stationary hanging 1000W HPS right? Once you finish a grow or two with that setup and get things dialed in like you said, then I want you to add one or two of the 860W CDM bulbs, staggered in between your HPS, so ideally: HPS-CDM-HPS-CDM and have them on a mover, once you finish a grow with this setup then compare the results from your first (stationary) HPS only runs, personally I think the results from the second setup would mop the floor with the first IMHO, but hey, what the hell do I know, lol.

Well of course it would, it's 1720 watts more.. Lol, but I could also just drop 2 600's underneath the 1000's. Lol I gotta look into it more for sure.

Lately I had a little more knats then I'd like so I sprayed down the top soil and drentched the coco with sns to get the knats out and then I laid down a bunch of sticky yellow strips. I havent seen one fly around for about 5 days now. I'm gonna hit them once more as a prevenative measure. As you can tell the claw makes the bd on the left look ugly, but the top growth is quite pretty. The mk's are more developed then the bd's as you can see too. The clones that I put in were probably about 6 inches before transplant. But they dont look like they've grown too much. I'm assuming their trying to establish a root base before they get taller. I think 8" clones are gonna be the best bet for transplant. They seem to grow just a little bit faster and show it as well.

You know looking at the pics it seems like the plants on the top and bottom are just a little farther away from the light than they should be, I'd have to second the notion of adding more light, as for the 600s, well..... you know the bulb I want you to use anyway, but I digress, lol, I mean the top plants look to have about 2"-3" node spacing in some places, that's quite a bit of stretch (CMH/CDM produces the tightest node spacing and most compact growth over any other lamp, but again I digress, lol) Ive heard from several very experienced growers that the best results they've ever got was from mixing HPS with HM/CMH, once you get things dialed in, maybe after a couple grows with just HPS only, what would you think of this setup: 1000W HPS + 600W MH (or preferably 860W CDM) hanging about a foot above where your lights are now, then put another 600W MH (or 860W CDM) + 1000W HPS below them, so this is basically what it would look like:

I'll be dropping the 6's low an the thousands high because the distance on the walls towards the top would be sufficient with that bulb and the bottom shelves get closer to the center so it's closer to the 6 so itll roughly give them the same amount of light intensity for the top shelves and bottom shelves.
