I want to start a civil discussion about abortion and the principles and opinions surrounding it.

Please remember that we can disagree about stuff without fighting or name calling.

I am writing a research paper for a science, religion, and technology graduate class about the interaction of the aforementioned social constructs and the act of abortion. I have very mixed opinions on the topic and want to hear from others on both sides of the fence.

The pro choice of one specific sex would refer to the lawful right to make the decision alone about weather or not you and the other party involved wish to devote the rest of you're lives to that, group of cells, for lack of a better term.

The pro-choice for all option would allow for a period of time at the beginning of a pregnancy that would allow either the male or female to "abort" there involvement with the future of the pregnancy individually. Of course if the female chose to the male has no other option, but if the male chooses to the female could still choose to keep the pregnancy herself.

(started the topic but don't have time to finish before I leave work - edit incoming)

I will provide explanations for what is meant by Pro-Choice for Male and Female.

A woman has the right to make choices about her own body. Period. It's a medical issue not a moral one.

If it's a moral issue for you then don't have an abortion but don't force your religious dogma on me.

It is a personal choice. Someone else's religion should not be a factor here. It is between you and yourself and no one else.

the time to worry about caring for a group of cells is during coitus, not pregnancy. once a pregnancy happens, it's entirely the woman's choice what to do about it. the only exception to this would be a circumstance in which the female drugged the male to where he could not make rational decisions for the sole purpose of stealing his seed, or fished a condom out of the trash, etc.

the act of consensual sex is like a contract. if you don't like the terms, don't sign the fucking thing. you don't get to complain later.

Some people just don't need to have children, and to avoid this situation of becoming pregnant, lets practice safe sex.The question is,do we feel sorry for the unborn who are victims of a world that they never came to.

Thanks everyone for your input so far.

Most of the post are somewhat lacking in reasoning, If you can please post a little more than "i feel this, the rest of you are dumb".

I will be attempting to guide the discussion toward topics that i have chosen for my paper, but of course that doesn't mean you should not share any opinions you might have on anything relating to abortion in the US.

What about if a man doesn't want to spend the next 18 years of his life taking care of a baby, he has no choices. I'm not saying he should get to choose what happens to her body but should he not have the same period of time to choose what he wants for his future.

I hope we can get get some good discussion of principles going. I need to know why you feel the way you do.

it's a sad state when ppl think they can fuck with reckless abandon and choose to dispose of the life they created. although i do not condone their choice i also can't judge them for choosing death rather than life. because who am i to judge? every situation comes with it's own set of circumstances. i just wish ppl would first choose to avoid having to be put in a position where they have to make that kind of decision at all. however i definetly think there are circumstances where abortion is the best way to keep the woman from having a child when she did not have any choice in it's creation. as far as why i feel this way i won't speak of my religous principles. i will say though that i would be really happy to be able to create a little mini me but it isn't in the cards. i'm a little envious of ppl that are. i would have been a good father.
