To put it in context, it sounds like there will soon be a "you helped me along the way tax". How much do I owe the government for letting me drive on the roads that my taxes already helped pay for? Whats my "fair share?"

I am about the same. Factually, my wage has kept pace with cost of living through CPI-U adjustments. In reality my wage has not kept pace with inflation. My lifestyle is similar, I notice the pinch while paying bills. Specifically fuel, groceries, property taxes, medical costs are more expensive. And I am seeing more draw on my income than usual this year, teenage daughters, expensive medical treatment. Factored in I'd say I'm about the same, no better than 4 years ago financially.

Personally I am doing roughly 10 times better as far as financially. I know a lot of people aren't in the same boat but its really just my individual circumstance( I had a steady government contracted job but I lost it in 2010 due to loss of contract and changed careers completely). I just thought it might be fun to have a poll.

YES...had to make some adjustments, but looking back 4 years and now..absolutely YES

For the record, I would like to state that the Prius is an ugly car. It is also not very efficient, and it isn't even economical. You would do better for the environment and for your pocket book by buying one of the other small cars like the Fiesta or something. You could probably outfit your house with solar panels for the price difference and save much more resources and be easier on the planet. Even in terms of pure oil usage the Prius doesn't do that great once you figure in the total life cycle of the vehicles.

I am seriously considering getting a Nissan Micra next year when they come to the USA.

i'm fond of the prius, i wish to sell mine for a ford fusion, they have a hybrid option that is plug in, electric. i hope those solar energy refunds are available incase obama loses lol.

there is a volkswagen that can achieve 80+ mpg and they wont allow it to be sold in the U.S.A, the prius can achieve 50 mpg.
