I know what your point was, that the media makes a shit ton o propaganda and you all watch it, hear it and believe it.

"they are taking away my right to purchase large amounts of sugary drinks" - is a statement the eminates from the propaganda you mention.

That is wonderful for YOU, but lets say that spray (or treated seed such as Bayer) kills the bees that pollinate the farm next door and everywhere else. You are fine with that.
All the farms around me use it. Some of them even pay me to spray their crops too.

But they aren't doing that at all, they are just restricting sales of the larger size, you can still get as much as you want. So it does nothing, cures nothing and is a stupid bad law. The fact that it does not help anyone get healthier at all just doesn't dawn on you. Can't get the 64 ounce Big Gulp? Its ok cuz you can get 4 of the 16 ouncers. Just gotta pay more....taxes.

This is a tax grab disguised as legislation to increase peoples health. Bad law.

You can't police stupid. I wish the Government would realize that.
Are they following you around? Harassing You? Telling you to smarten up?

You have rights. Contact a lawyer and explain the situation. I bet they would understand your situation. They shouldn't be harassing minors.
Not everyone is born smart, but that doesn't give them the right to mess with you.bongsmilie

Car manufactures install seat belts because highway workers are tired of scraping victims off the pavement. This saves lives, and the victim if he now lives, buys another car. Good for both not because of the goodness/kindness of their heart. After all they just passed the cost to me and you.

How long was cocaine, heroin, opium on the general market before it was seen to be detrimental to the nation?

Ahem - it was Ralph Nader that drove government to mandate seat belts and safer cars. Car companies didn't manage to come up with the reasoning you state or they would not have had to have been forced into providing seat belts.

Need I remind you of the Ford Pinto? Ford determined that it was less expensive to handle the lawsuits arising from their exploding gas tanks then it was to fix the car. So what did they do? let them keep exploding - this is the quality of corporations, this is what actually happens in a libertarian society.

I don't recall, it was some time after the civil war and just before the first labeling laws

Totally true, do I still get a lollipop?

I think the Incas chewed the coca leaf with some form of alkali and basically chewed poor mans cocaine for thousands of years. Opium smoking has been going on for some time now But Dicetylmorphine hasn't been around that long, but its based on the same thing opium is.
Sure!

However I'd like to point out that opium is different from morphine, and that is different from heroin. cn

I dunno I kinda like being able to spray a wide variety herbicide called Roundup from my plane and not worry about my corn, but all the damned weeds die and I make alot more money due to increased production. I want even more production though, so if some company invents something that increases efficiency past the break even point, I can make a whole lot more money. Hell I might even borrow half a million from the bank to invest in new equipment to harvest all that corn too. That will boost the economy and provide jobs for a few people. But we can't have that now can we, everyone needs to be equal slaves.

None of which is of benifit to the end consumer. Oh, you are going to say that increased production drives the price down and a lower price is something consumers want right?

Your dear old GOVERNMENT in 1974 the NHTSA ruled that the Pinto had no "recallable" problem, mostly due to the fact that the number of incidents was statistically insignificant.

27 people died in Pinto Fires, the same number that died in relation to Pinto transmissions. Total cost of all litigation came to a cost of $11 per Pinto produced. Ford made lots of money.

How about this - let's wait and see. I am certain we will be able to get some stats in a year or two.

Nope, people LOVE paying $20 a gallon gas, cuz , you know, cars are a necessity right? In fact I bet if you asked every person you know who drives a car and ask them, "what would you prefer, gas at $1 a gallon or $20,000 a gallon?". Im AM SURE they will all say, "Actually I prefer it when its $40 trillion a gallon."

Ford knew of the problem and did not correct it - they didn't need government to demand that they recall, they didn't need government to insist that they fix the problem. They made a calculation that people dying was not as important as their bottom line.

We are talking about crops, not gasoline.

and now that you have been making record profits from using the spray for a couple yrs you notice all the bees disappearing and you know its because of the spray, should you stop using it just because it kills bees?
Or do you stop using it because you know it will crush the Industry as a whole?
Should we rely FDA? Surly they knew France had banned it 10 years earlier but released it here anyways. morals/greed?? What is driving our country?

How many pintos caught fire out of the 2,034,165 that were built? Less than 28. Insignificant. Not all pintos will erupt into flames if you run into them either.

The government wants you to believe it was because of them and you did.
Ford motor company waited until the lawsuits and potential lawsuits and public opinion hit critical mass.
Just about every government regulating body is reactionary, in essence the same as a lawsuit.

Plenty of bees where I am, neighbor keeps bee hives and I always have a gallon or two of his honey on hand.

BUT, if I found that all the bees in the world were dying soley due to application of roundup, then I think I would sue the shit out of Monsanto, knowing full well that you can't win since half the executivers worked for upper government office at one time or another.

Did they KNOW there was a problem? Yes
Did they do anything about it? No
did they look at the balance between the cost of fixing the tanks and the cost of litigation and find for litigation? yes.

Simple as that, the rest is nonsense. As I said, libertarians insist that corporations only do what is best for their consumers because of course their consumers are their lifeblood but the truth is that they look not at their customers but their bottom line.
