so what is "reasonable suspicion" for suspecting that someone is here illegally?

that's what this thread boils down to.

something tells me no cop is going to want to be the one to overstep the line. the law has been effectively made impotent by the SCOTUS. as impotent as mr. neutron.

Try to follow along here bucky....

The state law enforcement can now ask for proof of citizenship. If it cannot be proven then the person is turned over to ICE which = the Federal Government for further processing.

Who's rights are being violated and by which agency?

I am pretty sure there is a reason SCOTUS didnt shoot this part of the law down and it is not the reason you are trying to portray.

try to follow along here, lawnmower pusher.

when (not if) a cop falsely detains someone for "reasonable suspicion", a lawsuit will follow.

"reasonable suspicion" will become a land mine that no one wants to step in.

the SCOTUS basically killed that part of the law by upholding it the way they did. the SCOTUS killed everything else of consequence in that bill.

deal with it.

Neither you or any other knucklehead in this thread has bothered to address my question.

If the Federal Government has the same power, why dont you get your panties in a wad about them? Why are you not crying to Obama to overturn Federal Law?

Yes, because we all know that cops LOVE to waste their time detaining legal citizens and their bosses love them for it too!!
Well in NYC thats SOP for the police, its called "stop and frisk". Theyve stopped and frisked thousands of people for things such as "suspicious appearence"

Care to guess the percentage of minorities detained under the program?

but with respect to what is reasonable suspicion for being a citizen?

hornet's nest waiting to be stepped in by an overzealous LEO.
Overzealous LEO's get the department sued, guess what happens then? Overzealous officer is moved or eliminated.

so, turn over all 4 year olds to ICE for deportation?
If they are caught driving without a license and/or committing other crimes and their parents cannot be found I think turning them over to DCFS would be a better plan, dont you?

Well, the NYC citizens have gone for that apparently. It doesnt happen in AZ.

IMO, the stop and frisk law is against the bill of rights against unreasonable search and siezure. However, the New York citizens have given up their liberty for the illusion of safety.

I would not live in NY if you paid me a million dollars a year.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio needs to step down. His 1920's KKK mentality is a bit disturbing

How do you think they figure out you are a foreigner in Mexico? How do you think just anyone off the street figures that out? If you went to Zimbabwe do you think they might think you are a foreigner? How is that possible?
