Cloning Experement - Honey vs Schultz Take Root vs Clonex gel

I've rooted many clones before, with skin and without it. Every cloning tutorial in the world, just about, uses the split or the skinning. I don't split mine but I used to skin the hell out of em. That is not why your cuttings didn't root. People root skinned stems every day. Those stems just show rot, from being moist without roots. You can't really see the whole sentence in the pics, but I believe you about that. I was just trying to help... I know that's not what the problem was. I've cut some skin off every strain I've rooted so far, usually doing around half-n-half. But I usually don't see a difference either way, see Jorge Cervantes says the unskinned cutting will root a TINY bit faster but the skinned stem will produce more individual roots. Your problem in this cloning method is something else, I do think you'll do better with an aerocloner though. At least until you get the hang of the whole rooting process.Realize that most guides, books and tutorials say that cuttings will root in 14-28 days; not everyone is going to get really fast cuttings until the environment is ideal for the rooting process. You should be taking care of temperature, humidity, light levels, nutrients & irrigation and not allowing the medium to dry throughout the entire process. If nothing else, try the same exact method again only do not skin the stems and see what kind of results you get.
I like you [B3RNY], i dont blame you for them not taking. I have no one to blame but myself. I do think the Aero Cloner will go better, except I already see the f-ing watering temp being too high in my head... Other than that the Areo should so real smooth i am hoping. The temp should be only an issue for another month or 2 before it cools off here.

Cloning in a dome is like walking a tightrope. Have to keep the media wet, but not too wet, and it should get somewhat dry, but not totally dry... Complete pain in the ass!

PO Gave me a little trick i'll use for watering them if i ever try to root cuts again w/o the aero cloner. Which is doubtful since i have that now as long as it works like it should. Here is the trick

Use RW cubes. Dip the bottom 1/3 of the cube in the mix for 2 seconds and pull out. There is your perfectly watered cube. Do this every to a dry block before planting the cut (which they say not to skin them or slice it, only cut the stem on a 45 with a new razor like everyone does). So they dip the bottom 1/3 of the block for 2 seconds then pull it out, push the cut into the cube about 1/2 way down or a little more, do not use the hole in the cube, dip it in the nutrient mix every two days. Should have roots is < 15 days.

I cant share the whole email because they specifically asked me not to since there is information they "dont share at all". I will tell you they do the above and they dont dip the cut itself in anything other than the nute mix before planting it...

That should work pretty good man. I've had heat problems as well, my state has had their worst droubt in recorded history!! ..And according to RIU spellchecker- droubt is not a real word, lol.

Those of you who are PO growers will like this... All these cuts are elite clone only strains from PO. The 3 on the left are Chem D, the 11 in the middle Tahoe OG, and the 3 on the right Deep Sleep (Pre-98 Bubba x Larry OG). I'm restarting all my mothers so the best of these will be the mom restarts and the best 8 or 9 will be the next round of Tahoe going into the coco if all goes well.

I put a 2ml a gal of Dutch Master Zone in the res to keep nasties from the high temps away hopefully, (PO suggests never feeding plants H2O2) and about 5ml a gallon of the Clonex liquid other than that it's just RO.

Pics, here we go again except hopefully it will be a helluva lot more exciting! this time around!

Let the rooting begin. God, I wish I could have two of those.

lol drought.
I know, I know. :wall: I meant to write drought in the 1st sentence... a cheesy joke gone-wrong. ...or I'm just trying to feel less ignorant, I'll let you decide. Droubt really is used to describe ground water/reservoir water shortage though.

Lookin' good now, Cannaman. I'll bet you have roots showing by the 10th... I would kill to have a real Chemdawg D. :/

Thanks B3rny! Funny story how i ended up with that cut. I went to LA with the sole intention of getting some of the best genetics on planet earth. PO unfortunately as bad ass as they are sell out on a constant basis. So the last day I was in Cali (Yes i have my Cali Recommendation making going to PO fully legit) I called them and they had no cuts, and said that some may be available later and just come in. So the Tahoe OG was the gem I really had my heart set on. That and the Helix and, 707 Headband. When I got there later that day they did have a few cuts available for "Walk In's" I got my Tahoe OG (by pure stroke of luck I might add 4 hours earlier there were none to be had), and much to my dismay every other cut I had planned to get they were out of! So I ask the clonetender what he recommends that they have available given the circumstances. This is where the funny part comes in. So he goes "Well you do have Chem D already right?" asking as if we were trading baseball cards and it was the base of any solid collection or something LOL So I replied "Well no, actually I cant say that I do." He started going on and on and on about the real original Chem D cut and how I had to have it! When I asked what it tasted like he said "Rocket fuel bro, pure rocket fuel" Who was I to argue hahaha I mean the dude that had grown over 100 of these elite cuts is telling me "I alwayshave some Chem D in my garden, even if it's just 1 or 2 for me." Well when the guy that works at PO tells you that you shut the fuck up and say "Yes please, that sounds great I'll take the best Chem D cut you have right now."

The other cut I ended up getting that day was the Deep Sleep which I have never heard of before. They showed me a pic of it at like 55 days and it was seriously unreal looking... So I went ahead and got that as well. Now here all you sit getting to see them in my Aero cloner!

Awesome, simply awesome. Even though I've never grown it, I also believe everyone should have a Chem D in their garden... but I don't want to settle for some crappy seed version. It sucks on the East coast, not many options when it comes to genetics so just about everything grown here starts as a seed and is cloned just to make more weight. Someday, I'll make the trans-American journey and grab up some legit stuff... hopefully, lol.

coco clones root really well in coco, hmmm, haha yeah

I just fill a tall solo cup with my coco/perlite mix, water thoroughly with 200-300ppm of any grow nute, and before I have to water more than twice I have roots.

Considering how easy it is to go from aero to coco, I rarely go straight to coco unless my aero is full.

That would be a long, long, long journey my friend. An especially long one if your talking about driving and bringing MMJ clones across the entire continent, keeping them alive and under reasonable conditions the whole time none the less lol

And your right a crappy seed version would be just that - crap. You'd probably have to bust 1,000 of them to get one pretty damn close to the one I got for $14 at PO. This is why I <3 PO compared to seeds. There just is no comparison.

I guess pretty much everyone uses perilite now, lol. I use 100% pure coco coir. I know everyone is screaming "what about drainage!!!", but coco drains very well on its own... Like subcool says, watering less often is easier. I punch extra holes in the container I use or put a handfuls of hydroton in before I add the coco, but the best characteristic of coco is that it will tend to self balance its moisture evenly throughout the container as long as you water it slowly. Sub also says more perilite means less growing media (he uses all organic super soil stuff, I haven't ventured into that stuff yet, but it should be similar for coco). I guess I am just lazy and don't want to blend perilite or buy it pre mixed. ;)

Just remember that a little root damage is a good thing. I've put a clone, with a foot long root system, into a net pot and back filled it with hydroton. Had to be a bunch of crushed a broken roots. No pain, no gain.

Hey bro Whats PO ?? lol
Progressive Options in LA. Best source for elite genetics (clone only)... probably in the world.

www.pogenetics.com

Edit: Although im sure if your in North Cal you are not having a shortage of amazing genetics. Humboldt produces some stuff which probably couldn't be duplicated anywhere else just because of the conditions there etc. and the many years of growing in the area.

So how would one go about getting a clone from po? Could I just drive 15 hours and walk in buy 10 and drive home? Because I totally.have a temporary trunk grow room design planned now... Lol.

Yeah Its pretty easy to get clones out here,Just got some gods gift and grape apes, but sometimes its hard to get stuff cuz people want to be stingy with there genetics , and when you do find a Good spot for some elite strains they want a minimum of 10 and i just dont need that much and dont want to fork over 150-200 dollars on clones , but every shares In Sacramento 2 hr drive tho:/ worth it , so clone x was the best huh what was the success rate? i want to clone my dreams again, and take a few cuts from the GG and GA,

And I never been there , but all places that provided clones and meds, require you doctors recommendation

You have to have a valid CA recommendation. That being said if you come with a few days to spare (even just 1) and a pocket full of cash this is not a problem. Then once you have it, yes. Walk in and get whatever is on hand. Good luck with that part, on hand cuts vary greatly in quantity, including down to zero. So you may not get what you want.

Success rate overall 1/11 rooted. Clonex. Not sure how many days it's been but a lot lol... Still not fully rooted but getting close.

Exactly. Must have a valid recommendation. Which I do, and that's how I got my cuts from PO. :bigjoint::weed:
