If Tax cuts create jobs

...you present another example of government error. The government should stay out of private business and let the people involved in the transaction set the terms. I'm thinking had I wanted to sell my house then to a "foreigner" I'd have told the officials of pebble Beach to pound pebbles up their ass. Of course those who advocate government as the necessary nanny would have sputtered....and done NOTHING.

We have for so long become acustomed and depend upon the guarantees of our government that we think that everyone actually intends to be fair and up front in their transactions with each other. A guy claiming that he does not need government goes out in his back yard and says "what are you talking about - see? my air is clean and pure", never knowing that a law prohibited a coal plant from spewing it's toxins, or another prohibited the spraying of insecticide on a nearby strawberry patch, yet another prohbited all use of a a paint that exhuded volitile pain thinner. But the guy still believes that because he never saw those laws, ,he never experienced the abuses his neighbors might have perpetrated upon his air, it must have just happened.

This is what we have here Rob. You rely on things you can't see and believe that they just happen, or rather that they just don't happen with no guidence, no government interference.

Thank you, That was the point I was trying to make. I'm gonna go in for a second bowl.

Not quite. I never said I was not in favor of restituting victims or not in favor of protecting property rights. You seem to think these things can only happen thru an entity that has a monopoly on arbitration and the use of force, ie an involuntary government. Did it ever occur to you that other means might exist ?

To turn your statement back on you, is it possible that YOU think because something isn't commonly done (today) that it CAN'T work? In other words perhaps you think of things as the way they are as the end all, be all and that there can never BE a better way.

I contend it is possible to arbitrate problems absent a central authority that holds a monopoly.

How can an entitiy without the element of force - force anyone to do anything? In short, you can't make me, governments can.

But, you miss the point Rob. Things are as they are, as many or more good things as bad that you don't seem to acknowlege exist because of government.

Can you provide support for this contention? Can you provide real-world examples where such an arrangement survived a direct contact with human nature, i.e. empire builders, war bands and just plain perverse ornery contrary trolls? Your conception has a great deal of appeal, but I can't accept it unless it's earned a foulweather rating against the sorts of amazing adversity people who like to break things can muster. cn

No two people do identical jobs, except that women consistantly get shorter pay, statisticly this should not be, and yet it is, how do you explain it?
Easy. There are very few jobs that women can do better than men. In those fields they make more money. But because its fewer, the average gets dragged down.

Like I use as an example every time this is brought up.
My cousin's wife works at fed ex, in the hub (unloading/loading). I asked her how she managed the trucks that are loaded with things like tool boxes or something that is max lifting weight. She said, its easy, I call one of the guys over and let them take it. Yet she gets paid the exact same as the guys and picking and choosing which work she is willing to do. Now you tell me why she should be getting paid the same salary?

This is what women are talking about. Very few jobs women can do better? What I said is that they can do it as well as. Now Office jobs comprise about 60 percent of all jobs in the U.S. Jobs that require loading or unloading in this country are relatively rare, as many of them are equipment operators, assembly, and machining. You hit upon the very few that they can only do as well as the more weak men. Now, I know statisticaly that I am capable of lifting and moving more than you. I stand 6 foot 5 and weigh 240 lbs. Does that mean I should be paid more than you for a job? I figure that there would be times when you might ask me to help you move something as well. does that mean I should be paid more for beng a system analyst?

your explaination for why women should statisticly pay less doesn't hold up in a modern world althor but it is just your view that has women upset in the first place.

If you could unload a truck faster, better than me, you absolutely should get paid more than me. I agree 100%. If we are data-entry and you can enter more data than me over a days time, you absolutely should get paid more than me. If a child can do the job better than me, I absolutely agree that child should get paid higher than me. I am not for equal rights, I am for the person who produces gets paid for it.
If women can do your job better than you, well sucks for you then :p

If the minority of all jobs depend upon brut strength and women are still being paid less than men, there is an institutional disparity - which was my original point.

Or you are not factoring in the down time women face during pregnancy and child rearing.

When you start using global data, there are unaccounted factors in the numbers.

Also, you are not factoring in level of experience. If an entry level typist can input as much data entry as someone in the company 5 years, does that entry level typist suddenly require being paid the same? And should the sex of the person even be factored into the equation?

If people are paid by merit, gender should not be an issue. If there is discrimination, there are already laws on the books to address it.

Again, I do not want the government to start stepping in to private business and demanding salary changes.

What you fail to understand is that it will simply have an adverse affect on women being hired. Fuck, if I was worried about lawsuits from women I wouldnt hire them. I would simply hire men. And thus a bias is introduced that does not allow people to be hired on the merits of their work, rather the possible downside of their sex, gender, etc...

It is like whenever they raise the minimum wage. Jobs simply disappear as they are not profitable anymore. The unemployment rate goes up, more teens are unemployed, etc.

Government policy rarely works as intended.

So, how about this. Go get a job and work hard. If they dont pay you enough, look for another job. If you cannot find a job with high enough pay for your satisfaction then get training for a different job. When people get paid on their merits it truly is a level playing field.

Your idea for a fix would be more along the lines of forcing companies to hire a certain percentage of women to make it more *fair* again...

Well then you're not factoring the value of a re-stocking new work force.

this argument will fly well during the general for the GOP.

"hey, women of the united states, if you're doing the same job as a man and only getting paid 77 cents on the dollar and you don't like it, quit and go work somewhere else. don't expect companies to hire in a non-discriminatory fashion. also, enjoy those rape babies and your boss will now get to choose your healthcare plan. you're welcome!"

and republicans wonder why they have to pay for sex.

I live in the town where they built the "turtle tunnels". The gators hang out at the mouths of the tunnels and feast on the turtles using them. The turtle population is declining at a record pace. Somebody didn't consider the gators when they planned this. The tunnels connect a 500 acre swamp with a 2 acre swamp. This was a foolish idea.

A job is not a social program created by politicians UB...

Nobody has a RIGHT to healthcare. No employer should be FORCED to pay for healthcare. It is these kinds of government policies that will ensure the unemployment rate never dip back below 7% and probably increase into the double digits. Welcome to being France...

ya mean, the same france with government controlled health care that pays wayyyyyyyyyyy less than what we pay for our private, for profit health care?

better make sure to keep government out of health care so we can keep on paying wayyyyyyyyy more and letting our citizens die and go bankrupt along the way!

That could be my mistake. Wiki assigned methane an atmospheric "lifetime" of 8.4 years, but "lifetime" is a useless concept for a material undergoing exponential decay. i reflexively changed it to half-life.
So I went back and found this: a half-life estimate of s what I do to spew is and not doing anything over theeven years in the troposphere.
http://phys.org/tags/methane/!
So I could be wrong about being wrong.

I don't dispute that I know very little of the sciencey things. what I do dispute is doing absolutely nothing over the alleged climate change threat considering those who are knowledgeable can't agree. I am remembering ta heated debate over the world being flat not that long ago. not to mention the only people it would hurt to not believe it is the oil people .
