Funny thing, cuz im not even a christian
Exhibit A:

The book of Genesis isnt some written story tho, its a direct account of specific events.
I follow the teachings of Jesus for the most part. I am faithful independently tho, because I believe that something organized by man has too many faults.

Then God said, "Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."
You are the quintessential christian. I think what you mean is you don't belong to any particular denomination, but you are most definitely a christian.

Osctracization if you get discovered.
Irrelevant. It used to be you could be ostracized for loving outside of your race. It still is to many people.

possibly followed by prison time.
Irrelevant. You can go to prison for growing a plant too.

Irrelevant. You can feel guilty for something that isn't your fault, and likewise you can do something wrong and not feel any guilt. I suspect if you were willing to engage in an activity, then you probably didn't deem it "wrong", and won't feel guilt about it.

emotional confusion over family role changes
Irrelevant. What if they grew up in separate houses and never met each other?

of what?

Let's remember how this all got started.

The President of Chick-Fil-A said in an interview that he backed traditional marriage.

When the protesters realized how fucking stupid they looked marching over a benign statement, their response went something like this:

"Well, not only did he not mention homosexuals at all in that interview - his company gives to organizations that want to KILL THE GAYS!"

The problem with that is it's utter propaganda, and complete bullshit.

Chick-Fil-A supports a charitable foundation - The WinShape Foundation.

The WinShape Foundation, not Chick-Fil-A, has given a few thousand dollars to the Family Research Council.

In 2010, the FRC lobbied Congress against some language in a symbolic resolution opposing anti-homosexual legislation in Uganda.

Which means the protestors were still pretty fucking stupid; because they accepted, and repeated, the Big Lie.

But WinShape is the Chick, the whole Chick and nothing but the Chick. cn
If so, why does the WinShape Foundation file a separate tax return?

They are separate entities.

However, they are closely associated. Many of their donations come from employees of the company.

Even so, all the foundation does is promote organizations, through grants, that do a lot of good.

This is a tempest in a teacup.

And what the protesters really oppose is free speech.

I would imagine it's the shell corporation concept. Filing an independent tax return is neither here nor there afaics.

The foundation also supports organizations that do harm imo ... to gays. You might consider that to be for the common good, but I'll dissent.

WinShape aside, the protesters are doing just what you say imo. The amazing thing about free speech is that it grants us the inalienable right to be and stay wrong. cn

what it all should boil down to is if the shit doesnt deal with you or harm you in any kinda way ITS NOT YOUR FUCKIN BUSINESS. gays should get married, cousins should be able to hump each other if they want. IT DOESNT FUCKIN CHANGE A DAMN THING IN YOUR LIFE. maybe if more ppl focused more on their own life they wouldnt be giant pieces of judgmental shit.

How do they harm anyone?

Which organizations supported by WinShape "beat the gay away," or "forcibly rape the gay away?"

Those organizations support traditional Christian values. And they might go as far as to discourage homosexuality - not a crime, btw.

I may disagree the goals of those organizations, but I would never even think about forcing anyone to stop supporting them through lies, intimidation, bomb-threats, and vandalism.

The protestors are all for free speech as long as they agree with it.

Because what they really oppose is dissent.

Kaendar......you believe that gay people should not get married, correct? Well, what about all the people who believe it is wrong to smoke marijuana. What about all of those people who believe it is a gateway drug, what about the federal law that still says it is illegal to grow/possess/smoke marijuana and has it classified as a schedule 1 drug? The people who made marijuana illegal BELIEVED that is was WRONG to smoke marijuana. So are they right? is the Federal Government right to keep it listed as a schedule 1 drug? Is the Federal Government right in keeping marijuana illegal? So, by going off of what you have said that gay marriage is wrong because YOU, and many others, believe that it is WRONG, doesn't mean that it's wrong.

Do you believe marriage is between a man and a woman because the government tells you that or because the bible tells you that? Remember "Separation between Church and State".... that would mean that marriage, which is controlled by the government, should not allow religious views on marriage to weigh in on the topic.

Am I gay? Nope, no where close, I love Vag too much. Am I married? Nope! What's the divorce rate up to now a days? That right there shows that marriage doesn't mean SHIT to people anymore. Even the religious people get divorced, and that goes again the Christian belief, so who are they to say Gay people shouldn't be allowed to get married.

Just because YOU don't like or agree with someone elses views, doesn't mean they can't do the same things you are allowed to do. Gay marriage isn't the stepping stone to marrying your cousin/mom/dad/sister/brother etc. or to marrying animals. That argument sounds alot like "Marijuana is the gateway drug to harder drugs" argument.

Gay marriage doesn't affect you one bit other than the fact that you don't like it. If if hurts anyone it's the two people involved, that is if they get divorced. It doesn't affect you, me, my neighbor, or anyone else for that matter. Gay marriage is totally different than incest and animal love. Gay marriage is two people, who are not related, professing their love to each other, not their parents or their pets.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the whole view of gay marriage is wrong. I can't see how it's wrong. Remember the good ol' days when black people were slaves because they were viewed and believed to be lower class people. They, the black people, were beaten, tortured, and killed just for being black, and I would be in that group too since my girl is black, and my son would be lumped in that group since he is mixed. It was "wrong" to let black people have equal rights, and to be someone who thought slavery was wrong was almost a death sentence in itself. Remember when women were not allowed to vote because they were not "equal" to men and if a woman were to speak out against her husband it meant an @ss beating. So to say gay marriage shouldn't be allowed because "it's wrong" is complete bs. I bet people like you BELIEVED that when slavery was outlawed that it was just a stepping stone to other rights for other people. That's a shame that people have equal rights in America. Shouldn't America be a place where only a certain group of people have the right to do things that they like while someone who doesn't do the "norm" should be illegal activities.

Discrimination: treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit.

So not allowing gay people to get married is in fact Discrimination because you are not allowing them to do the same exact thing that you are legally allowed to do. You are saying that "Gay" people can't get married even though "Straight" people can get married.....sounds like discrimination to me.

You CAN NOT give rights to just some people and say others can't have those same rights because you don't agree with what they do in the privacy of their own home, or even in public. Gay people are actual people, they are not committing any crime by being gay. There is nothing in the law that says being gay is illegal, so to say someone can't get married because they are gay only means one thing....you are basing it off of religion.

Kaendar embraces an interpretation of the Bible that has extra thump. Whenever one sees anti-gay sentiment in today's USA, just listen ... thump. cn
