Jury nullification of pot laws

DEAsertdouche, realizing that he has started a few too many race bait threads, tries to smooth things out by recycling an old cannabis related thread that's been done a million times in hopes of making himself appear to be less of a narc.

The link is from Reason magazine, and dated today. Is this old news?

plenty of threads on this subject in the past.
With a news report from an actual case that resulted in an acquittal, and where the judge and prosecutor said they had trouble seating a jury because there was so much objection to marijuana laws? If so, I missed those threads.

Interesting trend developing:

"
Nevertheless, the judge and prosecutor had a tough time actually seating a jury in this case. The Hook interviewed several people who had been cut from the jury pool on the grounds that they disapproved of criminalizing marijuana use:
"I think this whole thing is a waste of time," said Richard Merkel, a psychiatrist and potential juror in today's marijuana possession trial against an Albemarle County man.
Merkel was among five people struck from the first group of 13 - all because they had a problem with this country's criminalization of people using marijuana."

Are you my little fan-boy now? Hang around, maybe I will let you sniff my drawers.

You and Chesus both present logic and reason to the discussions I have seen here, Chesus tends to bring a bit more evidence to the fray but what's with the 'fan boy" animosity? Can I be your fan boy Desert dude? please?

I heard yesterday or the day before on the radio that the Dems put forth a bill that would enable individuals in the "legal" states to use that state's medical marijuana laws as defense in Federal trials. Republicans torpedoed the bill.

I don't have specifics but I am fairly sure this really happened (In other words I want it to have happened because it bolsters my case against Repubs)

I laugh when I see conservatives (not refering to you) clowning about jury nulification while they protest that "separation of church and state is not in the constitution". Conservatives are always insisting on strict readings of the Constitution unless they would rather something be in it that isn't there. Some of us liberals think that if it isn't there, it is likely something the framers missed and should be there - I happen to like the idea of such back door democracy. An ultimate display of disgust for one portion or other of law by the people.
