so lets say i get a nice 600w bulb.... what then, i need a hood for it and a ballast for it to light yeah...

so hoods, air cooled is the one to aim for, even if it won`t have a fan fitted to start with or will running such a hood without a fan burn or damage it...

ballasts, digital? i`m truely lost here....

then we will need the extension lead, was looking at the ec technics one on getupandgrow site the one with timer etc...

so then we have the 600w running or am i missing a stroke....

Dont get cooltubes, if you want some 5inch ones I'll be throwing them out soon, lol.

Yield has gone to shit since I put them in, so they can go fuck themselves. If I went air cooled again I'd have a dedicated fan for the hoods too and they'd have to dump the heat "outside" or else they're pointless.

so there not all that these cool tubes... see some people use nail polish remover and cut the bottom off glass bottles to make them....

ah i`m tossing about an air cooled, (best laid plans and all that) whats the best option on hoods for a 600w.. not like i want or need a fancy one, if i can make one if i have too...

last time i was in nirvana they had kits, bulb reflector, ballast for 150e i think it was even if i got say three grows from it, are the ballasts any good? has anyone got one?

i don`t know the maer i just kinda glanced at the things on the way out...

Nirvana is Bloomandgrow, their prices should be the same as their site. As for their magnetic ballasts, cheap and basic but they seem pretty damn solid. Digitals are finicky and break too easily.

Purely IMO anyways.

Best thing I done was bought a proper reflector... Cool tubes aren't great for reflecting, I've seen and heard this a couple of times now.
For a 600w can I recommend the diamond shaped reflector by Ecotechnics. They do two sizes, you'll want the bigger and better version that has fitments to be air cooled if you wish.. I got mine from bloom and grow but I know D.I.G do them and got the reflector with purely with scrog in mind.
you won't be disappointed..

Now you lads tell me after I bought one for this grow :P dumped the old air cooled reflector as it wasn't air tight and that was a big part of the odour problem last grow. Fuck it might just go for a parabolic next grow and hope the temps stay in check.

Parabolic is poo unless vegging... Bulb sits the wrong way too...
Depending on where your grow is going to be, I actually need the heat from my bulbs...

They're bulletproof I reckon, and Iv read of loads of people here using magnetics for 10+ years.

Im trying some AK48 from the last grow, it Hermied like a lunatic, but not a single seed (pollen must've been sterile) but the smoke is finer than Iv had from this strain before (and Iv tried alot). Yield was 2/3 off it too and it was my first un-topped non auto ever.

Cant wait for hydro tho ;)

right so magnetic ballast it is.. is it recomended to have a spare? same with bulb ?

didn`t now nirvana were same crowd as bloom and grow..;) what hydro you going for har you prob have mentioned it already but you know me for takeing in info..

why is there such a need for the hood, why can the bulb not hang as an ordinary bulb would?

Gonna get two of the Atami Wilma Big 4 and do 4 plants in each (w/ rockwool and pebbles) under a 600w HPS each.

Only €400ish to get going on it so I may aswell.

was looking at them inthe flicking between threads on here, its a great system i`d love a set up just like it, but when you say 600w each is that per 4 plants so 4 600w ???

that would be awesome... or two 600w.. ??

Hydro is the shit for yield am gonna try the hempy bucket first tho, no more damage on my plant it just hasent grown any this last few days

Also i got a pump and tubing today in the pet store but they had no airstones, is it ok without an airstone aslong as i get air into the water or what does the airstone do?

I'll do a 600w per system... a 600w per plant (although awesome) might be too much.

yeah i was thinking that, but the toughts of that many 600w running just dazzled me..;)

kang i ofter tought the same on the airstone.. like if you plumbed the tubeing to a copper pipe with some noles in would it not be the same thing.... obvious there would be lots of holes and stuff but results wise wouldn`t it be the same..

Yeah i just pushed the tube to the bottom of a 2 liter bottle and left the pump on for 2 hours then give them a little drink of fizzy water, no big deal ill get a stone in a week or so
