Another tip. Keep your plants 2' or less so the bottoms arent starving. Hids blow, spend a little more on electricity and get better plants

My biggest mistake that you dont have to make, i have a fully established cfl system and now i know that t5s releases light more eficiently but they should be at least 55 watts. But color temp is all important. They have very good 68w 2700k cfls at home depot. I like to give them 75/25 blue/red during veg and vice versa flowering. Just seems like a more balanced diet lol

Yea inefficient and hot. Keep em in there long enough and the light will damage the wood. Why dont you use your closet. Put mylar or something on the inside. Cfls are almost as efficien they work wonders. Try those big ones from home depot. I also have a few 200w 6400k cfls too. They weigh like 4 or 5 lbs haha beasts

Whatever the lumens are on the box. Multiply it by about 10-16x if you have them about 3-4" from the plants. Then its just a matter of coverage

A lumen is a candle from 1 foot (12")
i cant put candles inside my cabinet sir.

may i also ask if why is it bad if i use halogen light with 80W in it? i thought that the higher the watts the better.

some of the forumers here told me to add two 23 watts of CFL's because watts is important in growth

thats all i'm doing right now is hanging with chains. hell i started out with speaker wire and thumb tacks. All i can say is this is a learning game. You can't just wake up one morning and decide, " hey , I'm gonna grow weed" and expect to have the best weed you ever had in your life without knowing what you are doing, or at least trying to be innovated. I'm sure everyone on this forum has had to improvise a time or two. But thats how you learn.

I'm not ragging on you or trying to bash you or your project, I'm just saying, don't be afraid to try something different when it comes to your setup and techniques.

my conscience bugged me about drilling the cabinet that is why i now prefer to hang chains. and also if i drill the florescent lights my plants will not have any more space.
i thought it was a 2 by 2 by 4 feet, i checked it out again it was a 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 by 3-4 feet.

i really need a good set up also.

i thought growing pot is so easy.

if your trying to actually grow any significant amount your going to need hid lighting (high intensity discharge) metal halide or high pressure sodium, i use both, and both are 1000 watts. so in a 4x4 tent i have 2000 watts hps/mh, 400 watt mh for moms, and a 4foot 4 bulb t-5 for clones and veg. more light is always better. you can grow with cfl's, and even get a tasty crop, but the difference your looking at is exponential as far as yields are concerned. cfls pull a quad per plant if your lucky, hid's pull between an oz-qp per plant depending on strain and what light your using, feed method/grow method. where as you wont ever see much per plant in a cfl grow, or even large crunchy buds. im not knocking cfl at all, if i lived in a dorm, or apartment its what id do. but i live in a 4 bedroom house, its silly for me not to use hid.

with the right strain right line, in a dwc or waterfarm, under 1000 watts minimum and co2 you could pull down 2lbs per plant if your thumbs are green enough, ive seen it done, here in my town, and here on the site.

I see you keep asking about the headlights.

First question: where do you plan to plug up the headlights?

do you have a 80watt power supply?

and for a 1.5' x 1.5' space i would use 6-8 23 watt 6500k cfls if cfls were my only option. you can buy 8 of them a lowes or home depot for around $10.
