...If all he does is stop the war, he will have fullfilled my greatest hopes.
My son currently serves and I wonder every day whether I will get the call that he's deploying to Iraq. He's my only child and I fear losing him. There are/were only 2 candidates who have publicly denounced the war, voted against the war, and promised a withdrawal...Kucinich and Paul. I would've voted Kucinich in a heartbeat if he was still in the game and Paul was out. Tell me MM, do you really believe that Obama will withdraw? If so, then why did he put in his "doctrine" the intent on expanding the military and increasing troop strength? Why do we need to increase the size of our military if he intends on withdrawing? Sounds like a contradiction...unless of course he has no intent on withdrawing then expanding the size of uor military makes perfect sense, does it not? Those quotes I provided were not doctored at all...I pulled them straight from his book.

The sad reality in both our countries is that a politican is a liar by defination. Unfortunatly
the conservative partys have become synonimus (sp?) with the religious right...which by definition makes them less tolerant of any other belief, than their own...It's always amazed me how the group that's religious is the least forgiving.........Making them like the politicans................LIARS

Here's what I think, My thoughts, not anyone elses. Obama is new Blood to the scene. Hillary is old Blood, she has already been corrupted. she will say anything to get elected. Obama is relying on his campaign advisors to make an electable platform. He can't come on as weak on military so he postures a strong military rebuild, which by the way, is necessary to hold the line as our military is in shambles. He has stated he will withdraw all troops within 16 months of taking office, I hope sooner. I am extremely sorry to hear your son may get in harms way. My wifes best friends son is due to go to Iraq. He is in the AF. They are using all branches of the military to drive convoys, the moving targets in Iraq, some AF guys are doing this. If her son goes to Iraq, It will probably kill her, as she is a very weak cancer survivor. I really believe in my soul Obama will make the pull out. If he doesn't I will be one pissed off voter. Yeah, he talks great things, lets give him a chance. McCain is Bush on steroids. He can't even remember one sentence. I am only 5 years younger than him and sometimes while typing, I'll draw a blank on the correct word to use to describe something, senility is a creeping bitch. I probably use this site more to keep my mind active than any other reason. I agree with you, I'd rather take a bullet than vote for McCain.

You've got me agreeing with you, until you say this:
which by definition makes them less tolerant of any other belief, than their own.......It's always amazed me how the group that's religious is the least forgiving....
I respectfully submit for your consideration one medicineman, who is clearly very, very liberal in his ideology and beliefs, so much so as to render him, to my view, a true socialist. I submit his rather prejudiced postings, especially the distinctly anti-Semitic statements. Consider, if you will, his sweeping assertions and accusations to all who may hold a different ideal or belief, even if it's only slightly different. His behavior is the very definition of intolerance, yet he claims to be a "progressive", a liberal.

I see this as a predominant behavior among many, if not most "liberals" I know. That is not to say that I do not also run across this behavior with conservatives, it is to say, though, that, again in my experience, conservatives tend to be a bit more tolerant of others. I do qualify this as "my experience", but remember also that I live in a somewhat liberal (definitely progressive) state.. well, as far as the United States (of Amnesia) go.

There you go. Talking about me instead of to me. I'll listen to what you have to say, but talk to me, not about me. If you notice, I have never talked about you, but to you. I think that is a curtesy deserving of me. Thank you.

There's a better pic of me in my public profile.
Well, I checked out your picture. I guess I'd have to bring a friend if we were ever to scuffel,~LOL~, you know, like Smith&Wesson, or Samuel Colt. I can't figure out why a person would post his picture on a pot site though, makes me wonder. At least I have more hair than you,~LOL.

Hi seamaiden, point taken... It's the people, they change spot's at the drop of a hat....both sides have their.. both side of the fence people... What I was getting at is the Rep... are against things like abortion..I personally am not going to state a preference, but the Rep. party has a palpible hate for many groups who's opinion they don't agree with......No acceptance....They freely insult their own allies when they think it will enhance a soundbite and then expect them to come running when they put out a hand that just slapped someone in the face.. Who can't honestly say that the current Rep. administration has done anything but alienate the U.S to the rest of the world.... With great power, great wisdom MUST follow....Which is lacking in the current
adm. Sadly, a few can damage the whole..........
Please believe this is not a us vs you thing......but from an external point of view, I've found other adm's. good.....both Dem & Rep. But Bush has left your country in a perilous situation in world opinion with his arrogance..............

Yeah, I am not a toker either, I just find this site interesting. I did a Hydro grow and am giving it away to my friends. I sold the first grow and it paid for all my grow necessities, lights equipment and ferts, so this last grow was free. now the whole thing is almost gone, a couple of OZs left and the experiment will be finished. I'm putting my components on Ebay and and that will end it. It was a neat deal, I'll miss the smell of the flowering plants, but the possibility of getting busted outweighed the benefits of growing. Although In Nevada, I could get a liscence from the state, a giant hassel and a direct link to the Feds.

You mean like if a LEO was pointing a gun to my head ordering me to vote for either? If our nation got to that point, I would eat the bullet. I'm not sure if you'll find that answer satisfactory, but our electoral process has allowed "The People" to vote their conscience. It's a right given to us by the Constitution, a document that I hold sacred. I have lived in this country for 48 years. I used to believe in the "throwing your vote away" dogma and I have watched over these years a great nation that has slowly eroded into one that is steered by special interests and agendas of the elite. The term "The People" no longer holds the same meaning as it once did. I think one of the most galvanizing moments in my life when these ideals finally precipitated in my mind was when Seamaiden and I toured Independence Hall in Philadelphia. I felt as if I was walking on hallowed ground. I felt a connection to the men that once occupied that Hall who believed in their convictions so dearly that they were willing to die for it. They were labeled terrorists by the Crown and were hunted by the British...yet they never wavered. As a result of the efforts of those men, we became a nation...and we never looked back.

And if I wasn't allowed to write in a candidate then I would go 3rd Party and vote for Ralph Nader on the Green Party ticket.

I mourn the nation that we lost.

I wasnt trying to argue about the wasting your vote thing, in fact Ive been thinking about it, and waste probably isnt the best choice of words...how about, voting for ron paul is an act in futility, can we agree on that? So while I definitely understand youre position, you are voting for who you think the best canidate is...I think I will use my vote , lets sayyyy.. more strategically, and vote for obama even though I agree with you that paul or kusinich wouldve been much better presidents. What keeps sticking in my mind is the 2000 election, maybe if all the people that voted for nader, or wrote in Jello Biafra(my personal choice) voted for who they thought was better of gore and bush, bush wouldve never won and our country wouldve been alot different. Back to my question though...you dont have even a minute preference either way with mccain or obama? If you have to think of it as the gun to your head situation, what if they had the gun to seamaiden's head, would you let her eat the bullet? lol, sorry about the violent scenario, but you started it ;)

You and Seamaiden are an asset to this forum, Dave.

Just thought I'd put that out there. :)
