the main question was that if i do a flush, do my plants need food immediately after. i was talking to the guy at the hydro store, who probably knows what hes doing as far as hydro goes, but maybe not as much soil...anyway he was saying i should definitely feed right after a flush because the plants will like going from too much food to no food less than they would like going from too much MG to the correct amount of FF. he was even saying to go ahead and do it like directly after a flush, not waiting a few days or until next water. which is what it sounds like i SHOULD do, and i guess in fact AM doing. lol. hope hes wronger than righter.

now as far as feeding schedule and dosage, i think i am going to just follow the directions. it DOES say for soil AND soilless mediums to feed every other water. the guy was also saying to use 2 capfulls of the stuff for 5 gallons, which when tested with a ppm meter gets around 3-400 ppm, supposedly what the plants want. for feeding. but the directions say to use 2 - 3 teaspoons PER GALLON, meaning a cap and a half or two caps per GALLON rather than per 5 gal bucket. thoughts on this?

Start with less dose of nutes and see how it goes. You can increase it, after you see how plant react. It easy to add more nutes, then to get too much out of your pot...rw

I've used tiger bloom before at 1 cap per gallon with good results - personally I don't think I'd go much higher than that. I used 2 teaspoon per gallon of flora nova back in the day and they grew great but imo were being fed a bit rich.

If you were flushing due to high fert rates then I can't imagine your soil being too low now. If your soil has a decent CEC (cation exchange capacity) then the ionized nutrients will be bound to soil particles and not just wash out of the soil - excess will but the rest will remain and be available for your plants. But at the same time as long as you don't overdue the ferts and as long as you aren't drowning your roots, more fertilizer can be better.

I didn't talk with your hydro guy but from my experience they can be totally full of shit. It sounds funny to me that he trashed your current nutes and said they were responsible for your leaf curl while at the same time telling you to add additional nutrients. I've had leaf curl using both AN and FF bottles nutrients...

Most of the cheap easily found general nutrients are amazing - that's why they are everywhere and sell so well. As much as everyone hates Scotts and Vigoro and the rest of the big guys, their products work without major problems and are often the exact same ingredients as the bottled chem lines. For hydro you need slightly more specialized nutrients but for soil that's not true. Of course it makes it a hell of a lot easier when the nutes come with specific instructions for 'acid loving plants'. :)

lol yeah i mean he isn't completely full of shit, but maybe giving advice where he shouldn't be...anyway...he didn't trash my nutes but was trying to help assess the curling. didn't even necessarily say it was the nutes causing it. i guess that was my call, it seems that it has to be something like that cause the environment is now pretty flawless. tons of air exchange, more than plenty of light, great humidity, etc...could be that the almost 2 gallon pots I'm using are too small...or could be the nutes...

i got the fox farm stuff as i will be switching to hydro soon, or gradually, as my clones root and i finish up the ladies i have in soil. hoping to switch over completely...

Whats up monster, Seen you over at Grandma blue's thread. Really diggin the home made grow cabs. You did a really good job.

Can I give you some advice? I am thinking the cab with the HPS light is your flower room correct? And the cab with the CFL's is your vegging room? By the looks of it, it looks like your CFL's are more in the red spectrum. You might want to swap them for ones with more of a blue spectrum, like a cool white or a soft white. Your plants wont stretch as much. I like to have my plants bush out, to create multiple tops.

I have a separate room for vegging/clones, very similar to what you have. I also use CFL's for my clones/vegging plants. I use the cool white and soft white.

I will pop in every once in a while and see how your doing. You got a nice setup to start out with.

I didn't read every post but I skimmed through it and seen you say something about Fox Farm. Not sure if you had a question about it, but I am currently using Fox Farm. It fits my budget and does what I need it to do. I am happy with FF. Is there better nutes out there, ofcourse, but money wise fox farm is great.

Happy Growing, oh and + Rep for your homemade cab.

Kratose thanks for coming by man! yeah i would totally switch those bulbs over if i could. i made the 3by cab first and was flowering in there before i got my HPS, hence the redder bulbs. at the moment i cant afford to pick up whiter bulbs for the veg cab. will be replacing them as they die with whiter ones. i DIDNT realize however that that would reduce stretch! thats a good thing to know! fortunately for me, the ladies in my veg cab all came from my first two ladies, which were in flower when i took said clones, so in essence monster cropped my first two ladies to produce almost all my current clones. if that makes sense. lol. MEANING OF COURSE that the resultant current ladies in veg are almost exclusively toppy rather than singles. they all split like 2 or 3 inches from the medium. almost the first node. most of them seem to have a dominant top but they all are very bushy!

roofwayne you da man! lol. im on here for the same reason and i think (hope) that everyone else on here is the same!

the meds they give for back pain aren't fun either.

i suffered a herniated disk they gave me vikodin and muscle relaxers that made me feel like shit. ended up stopping taking them after the second day because i was sick of nodding off in the middle of the day and not being able to function properly.
I smoke for my back pain cuz you're right... back pain meds SUCK. If I had to rely on the crap they keep prescribing me, I would only be able to function every other day. I've had a long list of meds that I tried. None of them were as good for me as weed. The only side effects I have to worry about are keeping munchies available and somewhere comfy to sleep.

yay bluejeans! i love having an internet grandma. lol. yeah my wife had thrown her back out and they proscribed muscle relaxers. she took a few the first day or two now doesnt need em anymore. tons of extras. she doesnt smoke anymore so thats out, but she seems to be doing better. good diet, exercise and stretching. works wonders.

about to go check on everyone. propped open the propagator yesterday so today or tomorrow i will take the lid off completely. waiting to see the first roots, then its time to go buy hydro stuff.

OH AND IN OTHER NEWS after just water last time, all the leaves are already starting to de-curl!!! pretty amped. i mean its not definite but it seems that they are straightening out...stoked!

If you have documentation of the back pain showing a 6 month or more history, you qualify. Call Dr. Dustin Sulak's office and make an appointment. Be prepared to pay the office visit fee up front ($300). Bring your medical records with you to speed things up. It's amazing the psychological difference once you're legal...

And I've back off my board time quite abit with the addition of a brand new granddaughter. This makes 2 under age 3. :-) Lots of fun, but very exhausting...
