Day 28 Update

Hows it going folks? I finished getting that AC duct in and I no longer have anything like a heat problem and I didnt have to change my houses settings to get the result that I wanted. High temp is now 80 and low is 74. So at least at the moment I have that sorted out. Anyways here are some pictures, please feel free to comment or advise as allways.

Wow, day 28! That is a slow growing strain for sure. The flowers are developing as they should. Is it possible to tuck or tie any of those tall branches down so the canopy is as even as possible. If branches grow higher than others, the plant will know this and focus growth there. Also, taller branches will rob lights from nearby, shorter bud sites. if your stretch is over, which I assume it is, then I wouldn't bother tying them. But, if you expect they'll grow taller before stopping than I would consider tying them down very gently and gradually.

Stretch has stoped it seems like. I didnt want to disturb them or risk breaking a stem, but i will see if i can tye down a few of them though.

I talked to my buddy again cause I like you thought things were going very slowly. He told me that in his last 5 grows of this strain that things seem to be very very slow for the first 5-6 weeks. So much so he almost threw them out a few times, then they hit that magic 5-6 week mark and all of a sudden its like hey we are sposed to be doing something here and they take off. Hopefully that will happen here as I would like to get enough to not have to buy again through the next gro cycle.

In other notes, I have 4 clones I took off these fire ogs so I can make a mother for the fires. Also poped 2 Kens GDP's and they are getting their first full sets of leaves. I think I am going to keep them in soil, veg them enough to take some clones and then go with the GDP's from the clones and sex them that way. Strangely I am wanting one of them to be male. I want to do some experimentation in the future with GDP as the father plant. Also I wouldnt mind getting some moe GDP seeds so if I get the male I want and a female, I am planing on letting her seed out. Any of you guys done a GDP grow? just want to know if there is any demanding things that I should know as it will also be my first growin hydro when I move on to it.

The last weeks are always were the heaviness comes in. The last 2 weeks are where the frost gets more intense. Sore strains frost faster/slower, more/less than others. She may just be a more sativa dominate strain. In which case, they can take up to 12 weeks to flower. Most are around 9-10. The more indica is in her, the faster she will flower and the shorter she will be. If you had a long early flower stretch, it is another good sign of a sativa dominance. Sounds like you have things dialed in nicely.

lets hope those buds explode in the next couple weeks! i see them trying to poke their heads through. although this isnt normal i am hoping for a GDP male to see how it would cross with itself haha best of luck with the GDP one of my all time favorite smokes :bigjoint:

Figured I would share what is going on with the plant that I kicked out of my grow room back in veg. Had one of my girls that was heavy in spider mites. After I sprayed her down and treated her for like 2 weeks she was stunted in growth and was water damaged. Instead of just cutting my losses I put her outside in my 20 foot boat and started watering her there. She started to come back so I transplanted her into a 3 gallon air pot and kept her outside. Last week I noticed she was flowering when I went out to top her some so instead of cutting I just let her go. Here is how she is looking.

I have been working on a seedling and mother cab in my garage. Think it is almost done. Doing a temperature check right now for the large part and hoping that I dont have to find a way to cool it more. Last night after I put lights in but before I added ventilation it spiked at 102 degrees :P Hoping the venting will fix that if not I will have to find a way to cool it. Cant really afford a cooler right now though so Dont know what I will do if it wont stay down other then maybe Keeping my mothers outside for the summer. Anyone have any ideas?

Throw some pictures up and I'll see what I can think up. How close it the new cab to a house AC duct, if you have central air? Do you have exhaust and intake, or only one of them? Kind-of shooting in the dark here.

Yeah was just waiting for a temp reading so I could say more about it and get some pics up. Here is what I have right now.
Veg cab 001.jpgVeg cab 002.jpgVeg cab 003.jpgVeg cab 004.jpgVeg cab 005.jpg

It is in the garage so its not near central air and heat. I could run a new line over to the garage and then drop down into the cab but right now I cant afford to sink any more money into it so I need to figure out something I can do with what I have. I have a 120mm fan exhausting and a 8mm fan putting air into the cab, I also drilled some passive intakes into the side of the cab as well just for some extra pull. Its sitting at 86 right now, this is normal my 6 hours dark though but I wanted to test the cab durring the heat of the day so i can see whats the worst that can happen.

I'm surprised the CFLs got that hot. Can you simply leave the door open? Probably not eh. I would suggest picking up a 100cfm blower exhaust fan when you can. The passive intake would be enough. Obviously exhaust from the top of the cab and intake into the bottom. Those are some weak fans, no offense. You could use them inside the cab, pointing up through the canopy to circulate cool air from the intake through the canopy and towards the exhaust. 86 is not that hot either. I've grown in a closet that was near 90 all the time. The farther you get above 78 degrees, the slower the growth will be and the less bud you'll get.

It may sound like a pain in the ass, but a bucket off ice melting in the cab would cool it about 5 degrees I bet. May buy you time until you can bet a proper exhaust. Great job on the construction! You can fit a nice mother in there.

I could leave the door open but it lights up my garage at night and I think that would draw attention. I guess I could leave it open and then block off the windows of the garage door so it wouldnt draw attention. I know the fans are weak but I have 5.23 in the bank and next check goes to power and to my fiance's student loans. I was thinking about freezing a few two liter bottles and putting them infront of the intake fan sort of a sudo swamp cooler type thing. That might help some as well, and then I could just go out two times a day when the lights are on change them out. Not sure how the CFL's are putting off that much heat, maybe I have too many in there?

When I have money again I think I want to put a window ac unit in the very bottom of the cab under the floor potion, drill some holes in the floor and blow air in under the plants that would get pulled out by the exhause kinda like a nice circle of air, but dont have 100 dollars atm for a window unit lol.

your byuiling up quite the elec bill, start getting creative i would just put a stonger fan i there, thats veg right? no major need to filter, blast some air in ther, or suck some out! what the dimensions on that? 2x3x4? a 6in inline 160cfm for 60$ would be the only fan you would need and that would keep temps at ambient

its 2X2X5 and just veg. Wattage is sitting at 210 with 8 23 watt 5500k's and 2 13 watt 2700k's. Should I remove some lights? Above that one I have a smaller one for seedlings and clones and that one stays at the temps I want. The bottom however wont. As soon as I have cash I will put in a 6 inch, but thats looking to be about a month or two from now before I can buy and I have 4 clones that I need to see which is gonna be strongest for a mother plant and then 2 seedlings that when they are ready for veg that I will need to sex. So right now I need a stop gap to keep me going till I can afford to buy more stuff. But I might be able to talk my mom into loaning me her home depot card and see if I can pick up something that will fix my issue with it. I will prolly try the 2 liters first though heh much easier then saying hey mom, loan me money to grow with.

Use the frozen bottles for now and leave the door open if you can. Pick up the exhaust fan rather than the window ac. It will be cheaper. Get the cheapest exhuast blower fan that is rated over 100cfm and you'll do fine. Sorry no bright ideas.

Starting by taking out the 2 soft white bulbs and I went down to 6 of the 5500k's to see what that will change while I wait on some water bottles to freeze. I just think I had too many bulbs in there at least until I can get a better exhaust to blow out the heat. Will update with new temps in an hour or 2. It had finaly stabled out at 90 degrees on the nose, but I dont like that one bit so with its current inception I think removing the other 4 bulbs should help alot.
