lol, i'm not butt hurt at all, i'm good to go with my knowledge and grow. but it bugs me when folks without real world knowledge on a subject inject hypotheticals (of course, this is RIU, so it's expected i guess) and then slam those trying to advise what is going on in 'their' space. please explain how my room isn't sealed and provides excellent passive ventilation. you have several real world users telling about their experiences and you still feel the need to dispute them.

He may get it but people can get pretty dug into there methods and it's easy to be defensive so I just threw it out there. In my case I cut down HID temps and watts when I switched over to induction lamps and hope to further benefit overall flowering by reducing pytochrome switching time with using low wattage, <10 watts per panel, monochromatic 725nm LED's that run only 10-15 min once the plants hit 'lights out'. This is a relaxation technique that research I've read shows promise. If anyone here has had any experience with this I'm all ears.

Finally something Harrekin and I agree on

I went with blackstars based on price vs performance as well (only way to get the wattage I'm wanting without 2-3x the cost from other manufacturers) - I'm happy with mine so far but still another 3-4 weeks before harvest

I'm not really seeing any differences in this grow so far vs a 600w HPS, but I know the real tell is going to be at harvest. This plant so far is as big as any other I've ever grown under a 600w at 5 weeks in, and she was a late bloomer (didn't show full flowers til over 2 weeks in) -- I really don't see how based on the current rate of growth, which should increase in the final weeks, I'm not going to yield 2-4oz off this plant. That seems pretty good to me for a plant that was put into flower after not much more than a month from seed (probably around 6 weeks). She was even a bit stunted in early veg due to a ph/heat issue.

Is that your only plant? It'll be interesting to see how much it thickens up over the next 2-3 weeks tho.

Nah I have other plants I just figured I'd show my oldest/farthest along - lots of other pics in my grow thread.

As far as the airpots, they are easy as hell to transplant from since you just open up the pot and take the plant out. The pain point with them is watering, which needs to be eased into or you'll get water coming out the side holes.

theres a video on penetrators website...

it shows the 200watt penetrator vs 400hps. youtube video and everything.. HPS wins. hps is 34grams. led was 29.. hps pulled 439watts form wall. led was 205. LED bud looked x3 triched up. also for half the wattage draw ill take 29 to 34 ALL DAY.

Really nice Beef!! Here are my current all LED buds (4 x Blackstar 240w)

Day 17 from last night - White Russian and OG Kush

Medicine Man - late 20 days (not sure due to great RIU crash of '012)

Some more advanced OG Kush buds (also unknown date due to RIU crash - I am guessing these would have been around 30-32 days in -- this plant has been stunted its whole life and has very few fan leaves left so it's hard to say. She's had a hard life due to being probably the most finicky plant I've ever grown. Luckily her sister has been less problematic.

The trick to that is to compress the soil slightly when filling the pot, make sure the two lines of filled in cones are at the top (i.e. the yellow bottom of the pot should be attached above the row of large inward cones 3rd line from the bottom). The filled in cones act as a reservoir if you fill the pot enough and tightly, they'll have plenty of air from the holes so you can afford to pack it tighter than a normal pot.

Also its absoloutly key when watering to break up the surface of the soil, and not to have let it dry out too much, cos it's much harder to rehydrate.

Doing some airpots from seed like the ability to see the root growth but the other airpots made of material seem to grow better, at least this time, but you are right on about the watering.

Flower with a 7200K MH and tell me it didn't fuck the shit out of a 2700K HPS quality wise...small wavelength light is a big factor...I have done both across several grows. HPS produced more, MH produced better...Must be genetics? I don't think thats the whole story

ML produces more UVB light which increases THC production. Check Ed Rosenthal's Marijuana Growers Handbook. Page 116. However HPS is still better in several ways compared to MH. It is best to use HPS up until the last two weeks then switch to MH. My dad has done this for years because when we tested it the results were obvious.

those will not come close to a 400w hps , growing with leds is mostly done with stand alone panels not screw in bulb style leds like that , i would stay far away from those my friend. check out viparled or blackstar or GLH they all have nice panels in different price ranges alot more than 50$ i might add but when you factor in the fact you dont have to buy ballasts for these units nor do you have to run A/C or have a bunch of inline fans to cool your hoods after all that leds dont seem so expensive to me at all.
