If that's for my clarification of lummens..my point is simple. The hortilux eye 600w at 88,000 lumens, produces more USABLE light that the digilux 600 at 95,000 lummens..just trying to help people buy the right bulbs...or save yourself a few bucks and buy the Digilux, after all, it has more lumens.psh..............
...thats an interesting take, for many years i never really concentrated on yield as there always seemed enough, for my self and so on...i grew very few strains but always in the 17 years i grew from that spot had purple indicas on the go, its funny i guess i didnt kno how well i had it then, back home on the coast, anyway those indicas became second nature and became very hardy as to my selection over time, outdoor i could get easy 12 to 15 ox per 3 foot tall 4 foot wide indica, minimal effort, so i think the longevity factor plays an important roll in the amount of production..as i easily with little input would get a pound off 4 small plants under 1 k hps.......now back at square one im struggling to get near that...Not so much lumens..lumens is something people see..not plants. Usable light in the correct spectrum, primarily 430-460nm and 630 or so to 660 is all that matters some uvb too if you'd like.. It's why enough leds will work..not many lumens at all.
Not to pick on you...but there is a difference. What you need is PAR light..Photosynthetic Active Range. But the over all thought is correct..so much light only covers so muc area, and how many plants you cram into that area doesn't mean much. One plant can out yield 5 depending on lighting and area.
And what is the measurement of skill? Yield, or quality? Or somewhere in between...unfortunately, I know lots of guys that can grow heavy yield Indicas, but the quality is mid at best...Which Is why I NEVER CONCENTRATED ON YIELD..
Yeah, that's pretty much all there's to it.if you concentrate on happy plants..your yield will follow.
I always thought yield and quality went hand in hand... both depending on a happy, healthy plant.I know lots of guys that can grow heavy yield Indicas, but the quality is mid at best
I do this, but not for yield, but to avoid trimming tons of popcorn. Real PITA. Also increases air flow which is always a good thing, and makes it easier to spot any pests. If you smear a bit of tanglefoot on the stem after lollipopping you are almost miteproof (unless you get them on your clothes) because mites, unless dropped on the plant by you, get in by climbing the stem... (or on branches touching some other surface, usually the ground/dirt).some people swear by lolipopping the cutting of lower smaller branches.
To a degree I'd agree with yield and quality going together..based on the happy plant theory. But things like spending the money on UVB light, and using it properly..will drastically increase Thc/Thcv production..without increasing yield. But yes, happy plants are going to naturally come close to their potential. And soil with organics will reduce over all yields..but will taste better every time.Yeah, that's pretty much all there's to it.

Amen to that.I have found the biggest improvement in yield has been regulating a consistent Temp and humidity in your room. Keep it 72-78 degrees w/o CO2 and 45-55% RH. The biggest difference in yield I noticed was when I started not letting my temps at night drop below 64 degrees. once you master the enviroment then start experimenting with other things.
some of my best stuff was grown with chemical fertilizer. best tasting, biggest buds, best smell. To a degree I'd agree with yield and quality going together..based on the happy plant theory. With growing it always comes down to "what are you trying to acomplish"?
My experience with lolloping is that the yield doesn't increase..but your weight is in tops, not popcorn.tangle foot that's a good idea. I would have to agree with the lolipopping you won't get more yield but the tops look way better imo. that and vertical lights go hand and hand
This is true. I use UVB and the difference is obvious. One side of a cola will look like it got stuck out a car window in a blizzard. But things like spending the money on UVB light, and using it properly..will drastically increase Thc/Thcv production..without increasing yield.
Yea, you do want to turn your plants with the uvb on...I do at least once a day. I only use it the last 10 days or so...longer doesn't seem to do much more...it can only frost up so much..Uvb not only increases the number of trichs, but the thc/thcv value inside them as well. UVB is valid..by my observations.Yeah I've tried using organics then tried Botanicare (cheap nutes) in DWC, everything was better with the latter - growth, quality, density, yield, taste, effect.

Grow twice as many plants. As suggested by longroot on another thread.
I am glad that most of you are here and thanks for debating the shit out of this topic. Lets start a new thread on ways we've found to increase yield. That should be a good one.
oh ya. Plus rep for anyone that helps me double my yield. lol.

I didn't see anyone else say it, so: "double the area under cultivation". cnAs suggested by longroot on another thread.

+rep. did that and it worked. Highly suggest it.I didn't see anyone else say it, so: "double the area under cultivation". cn
