Personally I would say try to take advantage of any company offering a 90 money back satisfaction guarantee. Get a light, and use it on an auto. This should give you enough time to complete a grow and make your mind up from there. Although you should really know long before you're done if you're satisfied. If you're not though, then assuming you haven't damaged it, then you can send it back and get your money back and you'll have only lost time, rather than money.
I have a few Blackstar 500's and I'm pretty happy with them, although I've not tried any other LED lights, because generally that means ordering from the USA and being in the UK, it's not desirable. I got my 500's here in the UK, and as Vipar are also UK based I might have a bash on them as a tester.
The penetrator series at hydrogrowled have 90 day money back, they're obviously not cheap, but then you factor that in when you decide if you're satisfied with them, and I've seen some good diaries from users.
I'd really love to see someone test out an ApacheTech light, but nobody seems to have taken the plunge on them, which is not surprising. They do not have the best looking site, and they don't seem to offer the 90 day trial.
In terms of that LED review site, it's nice to see a comparison, however the reviews seem to be compiled from information gathering rather than actual testing. A lot of that info will be manufacturers claims which can be unfounded, exaggerated or both. If the reviews themselves were based on direct comparisons under real tests rather than presumed performances from tech specs then it would be a lot more useful. Again, one of the biggest reasons that I won't go for an Apache for example, is that there seems to be no unbiased review or test out there. A look on youtube and you find all the vids that are available are done by Apache themselves. It's a similar thing with Kessil lighting, no independant has actually shown a grow, it's either Kessil themselves, or resellers/growshops that promote the light, and so have a vested interest. There are a few people with diaries on Kessils, but they're generally new, so no results yet.
Anyway to recap, I think if you're sceptical (as anyone buying LED should be) then compare the manufacturers/distibutors offering that 90 day trial. I'd probably leave all others aside for now unless you've seen their results first hand. The trial period mean the seller is confident in their wares, which means you'll be more comfortable with your purchase.
