HPS Bulb Differences?

Thanks for the info but I'm not a pothead. I'm actually a very sucessful high end real estate developer and I also own an import company in Central America.

Unless you are growing SOG or SCROG then a T5 light will never give you sufficient penetration to produce anything but popcorn buds. The information you posted is interesting and I'm going through it right now but you take one of my plants and stick it under a T5 with 8 bulbs and another one under a 600w HPS it;s not even going to be a comparison. You are speaking to a very small niche in the grow market. I agree with the study regarding UVB light and this is why it's been in my flower room for almost 3 years. As far as T5 daylight bulbs producing a better spectrum; you may be on to something. I'm just not in the mood too replace 1 1000w HID light with 5 8lamps 4' T5 fixtures per plant. That's about the only way you are going to get the penetration and disbursment you would need.

I'll give it up to Hyroot. He makes a hell of an argument and has actually provided a lot a really useful information. An cool colored charts too!

here's my thing; and be honest. Are you telling me that a 6 lamp 4' T5 can replace my 1000w bulb? How am I going to grow 6' tall plants under a T5? There is no penetration at all. I can see how it works great in a SOG or a SCROG but for us TREE growers I really don't see one of those being able to adequately light a taller plant. Let alone 6-9 of them which is how many my 1000w does.

Like I said before; I actually am starting to believe SOME of your arguments and I do appreciate the info. That being said...you are not helping your argument by saying you pulled 12.5 ounces out of a 2x4 tent using just fluoros. Give me that tent and a 600w HID light and I'll show you yield.

Fact of the matter is I just can't grow my trees with fluoros. I would need hundreds of them. And I really don't think it would be cheaper. $400 for a 1000w ballast, bulb, reflector. I would need at least 3 2' 6 lamps T5's to cover the same area. That's $400 in fixtures without the specialty bulbs.

...Or plasma lighting. But who has $1500-$5000 to replace a 1000w HID?

Fact of the matter is if you grow any plant over 3 feet tall then HID is really your only viable option right now. Plasma lights are fucking expensive and hot as shit with no way to cool them except a/c because they can't be put in a hood.

.for one the pics of plants were at 4 weeks and 6 weeks. Not even done yet. If you have grown you could tell that. The finished buds are very ripe. The trichomes are mostly amber. More cbd. No density......??? Are you kidding they are rock hard buds. The buds come out more denser under the t5 morevthan the 1k because I have a bulb that puts out 35% infrared. Like I said I do pure indicas. I dont fuck wuth sativas. If you ever grown a pure indica. You would know even under 4 1k's the buds only get so big. Thy stop growing taller once they reach a certain height. Sativas veg fast amd produce giamt colas but take 3 or 4 weeks longer to finish. In that time ill have anither batch ready ( perpetual ).

My quantums I paid $200 for 8 bulb and $380 for 16 bulb fixture. Plus bulbs. So around $950 total. I cover a 5x6.5.

Get that in that plant in the last pic....... What......? That does not make any sense. To.get in the pic. All I had to do was aim the camera and push the button.

anyways origonaly i thought this thread was about hps bulb differences..... i mean there are a bunch of hps bulbs any body got a list of them in order of frequency ratings? what makes a hps bulb different? the hortilux have that strand that wraps aroung the sodium tube do any other hps bulbs have this? wtf is its purpose?

The bottom line is guys that both hid and T5,s can produce good yields "you,ve showed that" they both have there place depending on your individual circumstances and grow room size. Personaly i,d go for hid, but i have 2,mtrs hight, if i was restricred in hight then T5,s would be the one. Thanks TCD

LMAO, apparently you can't read either. In 3 of those posts I was giving you credit and trying to open a dialogue with you about the viability of fluoros in a room with larger plants. You just chose to ignore it because they aren't viable. I used to do that; ignore opposing opinions or critics that didn't support my theory; when I was 13!!!

yeah phil im gonna super pimp that shit. a whole room and a secret door and all that its gonna be sweet like you i spend alot of time writing my books and making designs for the next grow room. i got about 20 ideas rolling around in my head and i want to have 5-6 rooms with fairly low wattage's(i really dont want to exceed 4000k) and a work space in the room over. im gonna be using mass t5s and the info here is useful but my monsters need hps like i need water. im gonna have a male room(soil), an incubation room(tissue culture very small area), flowering room(aeroponic stainlees steel table 2x6), veg room(aeroponic 16"x 5' stainless stell table lower level), and mothering room(soil) another flowering room (soil) some how this will all fit in a small room but we have not decided on a house so some thinhg might get switched arpund im thinking i will just take over the basement wherever we go and split in half, half for a workspace/lab and the other half for my grow rooms behind a wall. and exhaust out my flue.

I'm looking into Current Culture systems pretty hard right now. Problem is I can only fit 32-38 grow buckets in my space now and I just don't see how that will yield more than the 64 plants I can fit in there now. Even if you can grow TREES in those things (some guys going as high as 8-9') I can't see the yield beating my current system. Gonne order a 16 pot system and see how that does. I'll keep you posted.

its just to save time vegging more plants, the people i know cut them(8ft tall plants) in half and flower them again. works great save sometime although the veg time is ridiculous. i agree after about 4-5 ft there is no point in going any higher
