Hey bro, that's a tough hit to your grow. But, Shouldn't you Manicure before air drying? Just an thought.
Hope not much is lost
usually for how long should I wait for the leaves to dry until I can start making hash?
Day 101 with 52 into flowering. The rest of the plant looks ok, the buds that were on the bottom are starting to develop well. The soil is almost dry so tomorrow I'll give some water. The top of the plant is hanging for drying and I'll live it a total of 3-5 days until I'll start the cure. Remember I told you guys that 2-3 days ago I've tried it(cut a small part of a bud and quick dry it), hated the taste...too strong and the feeling on the lungs, again too strong. I presume that's the chlorophyll (?)
depends what are you understanding when you are saying third world countries. Many countries from EU signed this ACTA shit. Many ex-comunist countries from EU. Here is a pic that is showing which countries signed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Anti-Counterfeiting_Trade_Agreement_map_(English).svg hope you are not one of them...HOLLY CRAP!!!! I hope this stays in the Civilized world and doesn't spill too fast to the Third World.....But I'm sure they will be "Modernising" us as well
from what I read on the forum and tutorials, first just take off the fan leaves and the big ones after hang to dry for 3 to 5 days (depends on the room you are drying temp, humidity) and after that, before starting to cure you are doing the manicureHey bro, that's a tough hit to your grow. good logic thou. I'll try to to my best and...in any case this plant is for personal use so it will last me long so I'll have time to cure properly.Your little accident can actually be put to good use and might be of some benefit. You harvest the top colas, the ones that were getting the most light, this way, the lower branches can turn their popcorn into good sized buds, not bad ^^ Like I said, no such thing as a bad experience
Now as for the taste, it's not about the air drying, it's all about the cure man.
Air drying is just to remove most of the moisture from the buds, say something like 65%, It doesn't remove much of the chlorophyll as far as I know. After that, removing the other remaining 35% takes relatively longer, because it has to be done slow...
Now, once you have air dried, the humidity that was easily removed (the one that was around and on the outer edges of the bud) BUT, the bud is still moist on the inside, this is the first reason why people cure.
When you pop your buds in the mason jar and close the lid on them, with time, the humidity from the centre of the bud, spreads to the outer edges.
Every-time you open your jar and give your buds a shake, you are allowing some of that humidity to escape the jar. You close the jar, the process repeats itself.
You do this for a couple of weeks, some of the chlorophyll would have evaporated, but a big chunk of it is still there, and wont be gone because there is simply not enough humidity left in the bud to evaporate and take away chlorophyll with it (Actually, I am not even sure if Chlorophyll evaporates with the ousting of humidity, but I am trying to use my logic here).
The rest of the Chlorophyll needs to degrade over time, this is why, after 2 weeks of lid-on - lid - off. People keep their jars closed for another month or so, some even 6 months. This way you make sure there is very little Chlorophyll in the buds later when you smoke them, and this is why long cured bud tastes so smooth.
Hope this helps clarify things, I just made it up using logic, I'm now gonna go do the actual research
I guess so, but the top buds were done anyway. I would have planned it to cut the top part this weekend anyhow. How did that happen???!?!? Too heavy?

day 102 with 53 into flowering. Gave 3 liters of ice cold water yesterday. I am doing an experiment. Giving ice cold water to the plant it forces it to get into a defending mode and she is pushing to form more frost on the buds. Maybe it's just a myth maybe not, but I am doing it. This morning she looked fine, is getting there. Maybe tomorrow I will cut 2-3 brunches more. The ones that I already cut are hanging to dry. No sign of drying yet...I am thinking to do the manicure today.
I have a question, everybody is saying for the cure use a glass jar, why not a plastic box? this type for example View attachment 2053851
just cut 2 more brunches and trimmed them. I am making some ice now and preparing to do some hash. I have fan leaves and trims. The plan is to do some ice , I've put the leaves and trims into a bag and into the freezer. When the ice will be ready, I'll just mix everything together, let it stay and after I'll filter it. The last filter will be a coffee paper filter. I'll see what I'll have. Till now I have 12 of 20-30 cm brunches with buds hanged to dry. On each brunch there are about 3-4-5 niece buds, different sizes.
