Perkele's Growing Journal First plant

Hi there,
I should have started this back when I started growing it...but better later then never. So...I am at day 45 of vegetative stage.
Seed: John Doe ( I tend to think it's an indica)
Small recapitulation.
I am using:

4x 35w CFL's Day Light 6400k each 18/6

Soil: IMG-20111118-WA0004.jpg

Pot: I've been using many of them now ( I am still learning) and at the moment (actually today, I replanted it into a new home) it has 11' in high , and 13' in diameter. I am guessing that it's about 13-14 liters.
Water - I am using still bottled water.
In the past I had different problems with it. First...due to my noobness I had a stretched and long steam...my lights were not the best :) IMG-20111118-WA0002.jpg
and after some good advice (special thanks goes to Lime) I've started using the CFL's. Due to the light I had...I had some burns on the leaves.
Some retrospective pics IMG-20111118-WA0005.jpg and after that...after changing to proper light...and moving it into an unused shower cabin, I realized that the moisture level was to high and due to that I've started to have a different problem...any guessing? This is the answer DSCF1961.jpg ...yes, gnats, you know them, you hate them.
I've tried many non invasive things and the best way to get rid of them was the replanting it into a new pot, with clean soil and making sure that the plant is not over-watered.
After...I had some problems with the lower leaves...some yellow spots. Asked on the forum and the plant was diagnosed with Calcium/magnesium deficit. So...i gave it Ca...not in a normal way or how everybody would have done it, but I had to improvise. I gave it human pills. Calcichew D Forte. Magic pill for calcium deficit in humans. Contains 500 mg of Calcium and Vitamin D for stabilization. It appears it worked well. No new yellow spots since. This are some pics DSCF1989.jpg

And after all this, in one of the days, not so long ago I had some good news. The plant revealed the sex, it's a she DSCF1993.jpg

At the moment I am in day 45, I've just re planted it in a bigger pot and in max 5 days I am planing to start it into 12/12 light this is a pic after today's replanting

Thank you rollitup team and thank you everybody for your kindness and the help and tips.
I will continue this journal and keep you informed about Perkele's firs grow.

I realized that the moisture level was to high
from what i have read canabis actually thrives in a high humidity atmosphere especially during veg, around 60-70% humidity is what i think is ideal, may want to double check on your own :)

although the fungus gnats suck, i think wet soil plays more of a role than higher humidity

good to take in consideration for future grows. I think with this one I'll stay in the wardrobe

wonder if some crushed up TUMS would work
finger's crossed :)

I am thinking now to let it for couple of days for the roots to accommodate into the new soil and as soon as that will be done, flowering time.
Bit afraid...next Saturday I'll go visit some friends and I'll let the little one home alone till the 2nd of January... I'll give it a good watering before and hopefully she'll be fine

if your seeing pistols (white hairs) then the plant is already started to flower, what wouls simulate nature the most is reducing the ON time of your lights by 15 min a day untill you reach that 12/12 mark. if the plant sense less daylight hours then the day before it will continue its flowering (not MIT approved advice) and it will gain the benifits of having the extended hours of light to photosynthisize food.

again im no pro grower but when the daylight hours change they change by 2-3 min a day so this makes common sense :) best of luck

Mj is pretty resilient to stress too just thought i would throw that out there, never seen a plant die of stress its always improper conditions, poor soil, PH , bugs deficiency's , burns.

never seen a thread where someone "stressed" thier plant to death LOL

thank you, as always good advice!
I have a timer on the outlet and I am able to modify it from 1/2 to 1/2 hour only. I'll let it for another day or two and after I'll start decreasing with 1 hour until 12/12

with such high increments maybe leave em for a few days to a time on the slightly shorter "Days"

obviously if you are still seeing signs of your plant going into flower you want to keep the most light on oit as possible. i mean if the plant is flowering 15/9 then 15 hours of light is great way better than 12, i mean 8 weeks of flowering an extra 3 hours per day = 168 extra hours of photosynthisis

do you see what im saying? sometimes i feel i dont explain things well, i think it great but to type it i feel i lack lol

yes, but you can't deny it reflects in yield and resilience.

i like this method. makes perfect sense to me. i eased my girls into flower over about a week i believe.

the effect of stress on a plant effectiong yeild is only due to not giving it more time to recoup. (says That Guy)

what about hermaphrodites?
What about them?

your implying that if she repots and switches lights at the same time her plants have a "chance" to hermie......

show me some research on the matter and i will believe it otherwise i would say she is fine to switch lights whenever ismost convienent

not at all what i meant. guess getting off subject here, but didn't mean to reference to the light switch at all. just saying, stressing a plant can affect the outcome in many ways.

agreed. i've seen successful grows go from 24/0 to 12/12. it all depends on personal preference.

sorry thought u meant if she switches lights it will cause em to hermie, a plant can hermie regardless of stress.

collidal silver will cause a plant to hermie. thats proven.

And you can repot and switch lights at the same time. But odds are your plant may never realize the full benefits of the larger container. During transition, the period following the switch from veg lighting to flower lighting schedules, the plant shifts gears and root development pretty much comes to a crawl by the time the plant actually begins to flower. And the period of time allowed for the plant to get use to its new digs before flowering is dependent of how large of a container size difference was used in the transplant.....
