Cal/mag.......why did my plants go to shit after adding?

So I added a low dosage of cal mag to my plants due to some problems which I had narrowed down to this being a solution, including consulting a hydro shop owner for his thoughts. Growing in soil and two of the four seem to be suffering worse than before and the other two look good but maybe in limbo...ill get pics later tonight. Looking like i might just rip these cuntz out and start with new everything, went from decent to shit in a heartbeat and im fuckin pissed!!

Could just be the fact that your plants already had the problem and it just progressed. A day when a problem looks minor the next day it could be brutally worse even if you happen to make a change. Sometimes when you catch the problem or narrow it down even if you treat it the mix you have could still have traces lingering. Make sure you flush them out really really good. I couldnt imagine that a low dose of cal/mag hurt your plants. I use the stuff heavy every watering. Keep ppms and nute mix very simple until you get it down pat. Good luck

DSC00363.jpgDSC00369.jpgDSC00371.jpgDSC00373.jpgDSC00375.jpgPic 1 is the gnarly looking pile of shit before the cal mag. Pic 2 is the other one im concerned with and not too sure what to do. Pic 3 and 4 are clearly the gnarly pile of shit plant and the last is the nicest of the bunch and it had the same treatment....I dont know what to think! It was the broadest of all the plants and now it smells and looks like balls, the healthiest looking one in pic 5 has had all the same food, light and what not. Any thoughts? I cant stop laughing at what a sad unit that thing is but man... frustrating haha!

Thanks man but it got worse after the flush and I only flushed the nasty one because I wasn't sure what would happen.

Well the bad ones indeed look like Ca/Mg def, BUT 3 and 4 look severely overnuted. Personally, I would flush the shit out of them again, spray with a 50% diluted solution of your Mg/Ca suppliment, saturating the undersides as best I could (unless I had DM Saturator). It takes days to see a change in soil and they may look even worse before getting better. Also, you probably know that the dead stuff won't rebound, but at least you can get it going in the right direction again.

Note: was your pH runoff stable among all the plants?

Pulled the plug on the one plant as its dry as parsley, but the bud sites still look good of all things. It'll be way too far behind to bother with now, as far as PH goes it hovers around 6.5-7.0, not too sure about the run off though. Will foliar spray tonight before lights out and stick to water only for a week or so and see how it goes....really haven't fertilized them too much but maybe a little high on the concentration because my outdoor plants soaked it up like gravy to a bun. Learning curve I suppose and this is a lesson no doubt! Thanks all for the input, Ill fire up some new pics next week good or bad. CB

Try putting them in a better quality potting soil. They will be much happier and greener even if you do nothing at all to them. Super soil might be perfect for you.

Soil options here are slim, but I was doing some reading about Sea Soil and I can get it but transplanting now would stunt them even more and it might be a little too extreme. Checked the roots on the plant that took a nose dive, they were nice and white which eliminated some other potential problems, hopefully I can just ride out the soil they're in and get what I can get out of the remaining 4 plants. If anything they look better after the day...not worse. Time will tell I guess and if they take a turn for shit I will for sure attempt a new soil transplant.

DSC00380.jpgDSC00381.jpgDSC00382.jpgDSC00383.jpgDSC00384.jpgDSC00385.jpgDSC00386.jpg So its been a few weeks and these are some pics of the recovering burn victims courtesy of me:-|. As you can see some are still a touch crispy but far better than they were, they all seem to be a different stages of flowering which I can deal with when the time comes. Its been almost 7 weeks since the flip and they are all great white shark, anybody have a ball park of how much longer the most mature looking plants might be in for? This is my first mini indoor attempt, I read and study and listen to all the advice I get from guys on this site and it has ultimately saved me from scrapping these when they were lookin like ass. Just lookin for a basic idea now that they're back growing properly even though I lost a fair bit of foliage. Should be able to tell which more mature ones I'm talking about...I lost track when uploading and the thumbnails wont size up while Im doing this haha. Thanks CB:joint:

  • First sign of red hairs start flushing??! that would advice i wouldnt use.. red hair can be seen a month before harvest, and you dont want to flush so early, just the last week or so.

Thats the thing there have been a decent amount of red hairs on the two that didnt suffer as badly burn wise, but they have only been actually flowering for 5 weeks tops (7 since the flip). They cant possibly be only a couple weeks from finish can they?

Did some reading on here and there are some locally produced soils which are incredibly rich, think I'm gonna blend my own with some inert soil and perlite so hopefully organic nutes are gonna be needed in low doses only this summer. Sea Soil is supposed to be very good also, check out their web site.....don't think they listed prices though.
