hydroton - so that's what those stupid little balls are called. I still can't believe how many were in the little plants soil. there was litterally more rocks than soil. I think he had smoked a little too much before planting...:blsmoke:

plant 3 is perky again, and all are growing fast. 5" tall and 5" across, except #1 at 4" across. better color too. added another 42 watt bulb today- makes 8 now, want one more for now, for 3 on each plant. spendy at $9 each.

Yup, it just perked up when we relaxed and gave it some time...this is my first time growing and my husband has grown (like 15 yrs ago)but never with CFL's. I personally have never even seen a pot plant grow, so I am just amazed at how fast they are growing. We were gonna try to follow the book Buds for Less, but we were given clones and they werewn't planted or lighted right, so they started stretching and weren't as big as the ones in the book. So we are just giong by the book as much as we can, except we are veg for longer.

42 watt CFL = 150 watt standard bulb. up to 336 watts on our setup now total. hard for me to believe you can grow with so little power. everyone i ever knew that grew inside used high pressure sodium lights that used at least 1000 watts and cost a lot, and caused a LOT of heat. i've only grown outside, and only once, except for helping my dad 30 years ago. my outside grow was 10 years ago and went well, plants were 4 or 5' tall and 3' across and beautiful when they were found. i didn't scope out the hillside good enough and had them close to a road, fed them one day and just sat for a while admiring them when i heard someone walk away through the brush and get into a car and drive away. was in a drainage and thought it was remote, but didn't climb up high enough to find the gravel road. had been feeling like i was beeing watched, but told myself i was just paranoid. haven't grown since then. pulled them all up and threw into bushes. if i couldn't keep them no one else could either. had an irrigation system rigged and everything. made me CRY
pink- thanks for advice, will build a dome of some kind if i get a sick plant and will try it on some of my next starts to see if they grow faster. as for how much light is enough, i couldn't tell you, i am just trying to flood mine with light. yes, following SeeMoreBuds CFL book as i have no indoor experience. this site will help too, as i have q's i'll post them and keep you updated
thanks, Bullfrog

2 of my 5 are lookin a little yellow and droopy think it would be a good idea to dome them (with a plastic bowl) or something to help keep the humidity in?

i don't know if it would help. shouldn't hurt, should be similar to using a greenhouse, but more humid. never tried it myself. carefull not to over water. that's what always gets me. we just got a moisture meeter. with houseplants i try to wait till they droop and tell me they're starving. one of mine drooped for a few hours about 12 hrs after transplanting, but i hear that's nomal. if it stays that way i'd be worried. if you cover a plant use something completely transparant so it doesn't compromise light and make sure it starts getting better and not worse
here's a pic of my setup now...

it's tied to the shower curtain rod which i moved over the middle of the tub. it's a pressure fit rod so i can move it up as they grow. had to adjust the light over plant 3 last night. i like how adjustable it is. we plan on using Y adapters for positioning as the plants get bigger.
