SilusBotwin's Medical Tent

So I left the seedlings alone for about 48 hours while leaving town to visit some family I haven't seen in ages. I came back home and before I could even unpack my bags, I went RIGHT to my veg box to check the ladies and they were looking pretty sickly. Of course I didn't worry at all, since I know marijuana to be an extremely resilient plant. They were sagging and looking horrible probably from lack of water. The leaves were sagging. As a matter of fact 4 of them were so bad that the entire plant was limp and saggy. Of course, marijuana being the TOUGH plants they are, they perked right up and pointed straight up again about an hour after watering them. The Jack was the only one that looked perfectly and uniformly green and perky which leads me to believe that Jack is an extremely resilient strain.

Now there is a different problem I noticed. The bottom leaves of the babies are looking pretty shabby. I'm going to create a thread in the plant problems section to seek help and advice. Here are some photos of the damage.

Today I was able to get 4 out of the 5 transplanted into 3 gallon Smart Pots. I would have transplanted all 5 but I only had the money to buy 4 pots. As far as my problems from my last entry, I'm going to try not to worry too much about it and continue on. They seem to be doing better today. I had to take them out of the makeshift cardboard veg cabinet since they wouldn't fit with the smart pots. I mounted the T5 to the ceiling just outside of the tent and I have them setup there.

The original purpose of my visit to the hydro shop was to pick up a free nutrient sampler pack that a up and coming nutrient company shipped there for me to try out. It's called "Hydroponix X Nutrients". I'm glad I went because I ended up with a bunch of free samples. I asked the clerk if he had any freebies and he hooked me up with an 8 ounce bottle of CalMag and one of the fellas who was standing around chatting over heard my request for freebies. Turns out hes the owner of a company called "Biofloral" and he followed me out to the parking lot to give me some freebies from the trunk of his car. He gave me a small growers handbook/troubleshooting guide, a small packet of powder that supposedly triggers flowering faster and makes them flower more vigorously. He also gave me a nifty inkpen that has a green led flashlight on the end to use for working in the garden during lights out time, and last but not least he gave me a bottle of something called "Nutri+ Starter Solution". James, if you're reading this, YOU ROCK man! Thanks for the samples!

On to my update. Don't have much to say. Didn't test ph since they were put into new soil anyhow. On to the photos. I'll update again if I think of something I forgot to mention.

One of the photos shows the worst looking plant of the group. Another shows all of my awesome freebies I got today.

I'm pretty certain now that the early feeding caused some buildup resulting in lockup causing the ugly bottom leaves on them. Flushing seemed to do the job and the transplanting afterwards into fresh soil and larger containers will definitely help reset things. I shouldn't need a feeding until I start them flowering in a few weeks. All new secondary growth is a beautiful lush green that really can't be seen in my shabby quality photos. There is such explosive new growth at the node sites. Cannabis never ceases to amaze me with it's resilience. I'm going to try to get a better camera to snap some better shots of the secondary growth. I know these photos really make them look pretty bad but the ugly leaves are covering up the new green beautiful growth. I'm not worried a bit ;) They are all 5-6 inches tall and a mix of about 8-12 inches wide

The GFK is beginning to swell up nicely and it seems as though resin production has increased quite a bit in the last 2 days. I'm not going to feed them anymore, just plain water. This may upset my friend who donated it since he doesn't believe in flushing his plants but my patient has asthma and he needs his smoke as smooth as possible. He did give me the plant to have my way with after all.

Temps in the flower room are very stable as follows:
Minimums:
Canopy: 72.9 F
Ambient: 73.8 F
Humidity: 41%

Maximums:
Canopy: 85.6 F
Ambient: 88.0 F
Humidity: 48%

They get a bit high so I plan on getting an intake fan. Right now the tent has negative pressure and I don't like it one bit. Also, I'll be adding co2 soon so that should make the 88 degree ambient temps perfect.

The last photo is definitely showing it's sativa traits. Wish I knew which was which at this point. Until they show their pheno, I'll just consider them randoms. I screwed up on labeling and I have learned my lesson not to transplant or mess with labels while stoned :P

Photos were taken during wake up time. Gotta go give them some water now. Until later....

Started first round of LST today. Thats right, I decided to LST everything. Waiting until after tomorrow when I transplant to LST number 5. Only 3 dollars stopping me from doing it lol. I have some money coming in this afternoon, maybe I can hit the hydro shop before it closes for the day.

For scientific experimentational purposes, I will be checking on them every hour to see exactly how long it takes for them to point back upwards at the light. My research tells me anywhere from 3 hours to 1 day. I'll find out for myself :)

Haha! I had 40 bucks today. I spent 30 at the grow store and saved 10 for food for the next couple days lol. We sure do have our priorities straight and I'm not kidding lol

I grew some of that G Krush. It was a nice smoke, at times real potent
Thats what I like to hear! Have a journal on it?

So by the time I was able to get to my regular hydro shop, it was closed. Luckily theres about 5 shops within ten miles of me. I went with the intention of buyin a single smart pot and a clone dome and I ended up getting a 10x25 sheet of Panda Film to use for a DIY veg tent, a pack of rockwool, and a clone tray/dome set. The clone dome is about 12x24x10 or so. This shop didn't have the right size Smart Pots that I wanted so I figured I'd wait til tomorrow when my usual shop opens to pick up a 5th pot to get the last girl transplanted. I'm definitely going to switch shops. The new place has a MUCH larger selection.

Again, I asked the guy if he had any freebies and he gave me some samples of B-52 and Voodoo Juice :P It works guys, just make sure you repay the karma!

I've checked on the babies and the one bottom left has turned it's top chute entirely towards the light. It responded in just 5-6 hours. The others have turned towards light too just not as much. Here are some photos...

I'm kinda disappointed with how slow growth in the babies seems lately. They are recovering very well from the over feeding from a couple weeks ago. I've also been under watering so they don't look all that great in the photo, they were very thirsty. I've been ridiculously busy lately. I'm back to devoting all of my time to this again so it won't be happening again.

GFK is about ready for the chop. I had a harvest window a few days ago and today there are tons of new flowers formed. If it fills out to be flush with all of these new flowers, I'll be extremely happy.

Did a small bit of lolly popping to her. Needed some smoke and the bottom buds were tiny. Even rotating the plant every day or two didn't help them to get light. I know I could have tied it some more to get light to them but they wouldn't have gotten much more density with only a couple weeks left. I only took off the small branches that had a gram or less worth of bud on them. Dried out to 5 grams. If these tiny buds wieghed that much, the colas are going to be heavy! I can't believe how rock solid the buds that have been getting good light have become.

Without further ado....

Oh, also, this chick I been fooling around with has a co2 bottle setup that her grandfather left when he passed and shes going to give it to me :P Geeked bout that! She said it's a full bottle too :D I don't think he would be happy knowing what his co2 bottles destiny became but hey, I think spreading the green is a wonderful and positive thing! :P

I just can't believe how many new flowers formed on the GFK over the last two days. I swear by not pulling early, you gain an extra 20-25% mass on your colas and main buds. They have literally expanded 20-25% in size. This makes me want to finish it the FULL 9 weeks that Emerald Triangle recommends when they say 8-9 weeks. I just don't enjoy a body downer high though and neither does the patient I grow for. We
both prefer a nice mindfuck of a buzz.

The babies have EXPLODED new veg growth since transplanting/LST. I think it's safe to say they've grown acclimated to their new homes.

Photo update in a bit.

The seedlings respond to LST so rapidly, it's astonishing. They flip back up towards the light, a whole 90 degree turn withing just 6-7 hours of an LST tie down. This one in particular only takes a couple hours to turn fully upright. Photos were taken around 4 hours after LST and they are already pointing back up towards the light.

On a side note, it's blatantly obvious that the few days of 12/12 they went through when the GFK lady first arrived caused quite a shock to them. Growth virtually stopped altogether for about a week. It's back up and pumping now though. I'm sure they were VERY slightly root bound as well but I'll chock majority of it up to the 3 days of 12/12. I could be wrong on this but does it really matter? So long as they are now producing lush green growth, it's all good.

I really have to get a 5th pot to transplant the last baby into today. I need her in her permanent home so I can begin LST on her before the stem gets too thick. Don't want it to snap when I attempt a tie down.

Just check the trichs with a 20x-60x scope. If your seeing a lot of amber that means your thc is degrading to cbn and it will make you sleepy. Other than that it the strain will be the largest influence on the type of smoke. You'll also see all the pistils receed and the calyxs start to swell when shes ready for the taking. After you grow a strain a few times I swear you can tell the perfect day to cut it (PE <3)

:D I just can't express to you how excited I get every time I see you left me a new comment. It gets lonely in here by myself lol

Thanks for the tips. I think I have a set date of the 24th so long as every thing looks right under 30x magnification ;)

Any ideas as to how I can keep this awesome pheno going after harvest? The leaves are about 75-80 percent yellow due to the fact that I've been flushing for about 10 days or so now. I'm thinking thats going to pose a problem if I to try to reveg her into a mother or at least a nice clone donating monstrosity :P

Headed over to check your progress in a few.
