I just made bombay potatos and they were lovely, boil 3/4inch cubed sliced peeled potatos with caraway seeds then drain and leave to cool whilst using virgin olive oil to low fry sliced red and white onion and two crushed cloves of garlic and some fine sliced ginger, add to this a star anise, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, corriander powder, garam massala and tumeric.

When the onions start to soften add the potatos and fry for few mins before adding two big handfulls of spinach. Once thats wilted serve with chopped spring onions, sliced tomatos and corriander. Of course you can substitute the olive oil for coconut oil but keep the heat mild for both these oils. Add half teaspoon of each powdered spice and seeds and use three to four decent sized potatos, obviously the waxy type potatos are gona be less tasty but hold together better and the fluffy type of potatos taste better and fall apart more so be gentle both boiling and handling these whilst frying.

Buy organic and local organic farm sourced products, an exspensive organic spice is still cheap cause it will last a long time. Peace

Hi there, i put six new plants in roughly two weeks ago, the same things happening, the leaves are turning brown again, like last time this started from the left hand side of the tent again and has spread to the two plants in the middle of the tent. That leaves me two plants that are not yet affected, but from the way its going its going to hit them eventually, just as it did before.

The first two plants were so bad, i took them out of the tent and threw them away, hoping that might stop it spreading, but as i said, the middle two plant are starting to turn brown now.

I cleaned all the plant pots and all the other equipment with Jeyes fluid, so that's not the where the problem is coming from, the only thing i did not clean with Jeyes was the tent it self, if this crop go under i am going back to buying it, it will be cheaper and a lot less work. Has anyone any more idea's?

Well i've re-read the thread and by now youv'e tried most things i.e. watering, ferts etc etc so gona have to say none of these.

Can you lower the temp levels and raise the light for a week or two see if that dose it also provide better air circulation inside the grow, what your describing dose sound like heat or temp burn problems. Peace

Thanks for the advice Kingrow1, but i have now lost the remaining two plants. I have done with growing it my self, but i have struck a deal with a friend of mine, he's taking my tent and is going to fettle it out with Jayes fluid and try it at his place.

We are going to share the cost of growing the plants and share the crop, in effect, i supplied the tent and equipment and he is supplying the labour. I have lost heart in it to be honest, i have had two bad crops and this last one where i got absolutely zilch out of it.


I will get back to the forum though with the results of my friends attempt at growing, at least it may help others who have a similar or indeed the same problem.

This is not good dude, many times have i wanted to give up and hell when i upgrade gear i kick the living crap outa the old gear and proper smash it up as a way of venting my growing frustrations rather than sell it and re-coup some money.

You have at least taken the sensible option and involved a partner who hopefully has good experience growing plants throught till harvest and besides who wants the hard work when you can watch others do it for you.

Personally though i wouldnt give up, revise the basics again, temps below 25c, no ferts just soil and water, good drainage and persistance. Do a small short one plant grow under a smallish light for now and maybe expand again in the future, even growing a small tom plant would be just as good experience wise. I gave my tent away to that mate of mine, he has disinfected and rinsed everything twice over including the tent, he disinfected it firstly with Bleach, diluted to the manufacturers instructions, rinsed thoroughly and then treated everything again with Jeyes fluid as per instructions on the can, He left it for a couple of days and just to day he has put 6 new small plants in to the tent, so now i guess its time to cross our fingers and hope for the best.

He has the ideal space in his loft which will help to keep there temperature low as it rather cool up there, where as i had it in a spare room in the house.
I could not put there tent in my loft because my house does not have a gable, it has what's called a hip, which greatly reduces the amount of space up there and there are two water tanks up there for the central heating ect as well. I just cant wait to see how this turns out, I'll make sure to post back with the results later on and thanks again to everyone for all your help and advice.

Hi max, no problem. ill start from the very beginning

This is just pure guess work really, in desperation at this point i guess. I have virtually no experience of growing at all to speak of, i have only tried growing three cops. The first crop grew to cropping but the plants were very thin, in a condition that we in the UK call Leggy.

Plants normally grow like that if they have not had enough light or are placed massively too close together. I got a crop ok, but it was greatly reduced in both quantity and quality and the resulting crop was rather weak. but they definitely had enough light and feed.

The second crop were growing fantastically, and looked as fit as a butchers dogs they really did, but in the final stages the leaves started going brown and drying up and then dropping off, i got through to cropping ok though, but again the yield was quite low, but the strength was spot on, it did wonders for the pain i get.

The dying leaves problem started from the left hand side of the tent, the two plants there, were the first get hit. Then it spread to the middle two plants and finally to the two plants on the right hand side. So it obviously started on the left hand side and spread across the tent.

I then fettled out all the equipment before putting in the next crop a couple of weeks or so later.

Then i put my last crop in, they had only been in the tent a few days, the plants were only inch's high, when the young leaves started turning brown again. Just like the time before, the first two on the left got hit, then the middle two, then the two on the right they did not last more than a few day before the plants were clearly near enough dead, si pulled them and scapped them

So i lost heart and did a deal with a good friend of mine, her took the tent and all the equipment and is going to grow the stuff and give me half of the crops in future. He has fettled the tent and equipment twice, once with bleach and once with Jayes fluid. They ok so far, but they have only been in the tent a couple of days or so, too early to tell just yet i think.

If they grow ok, then it would appear to have been something on the tent material, on the left hand side, i will just have to wait and se how this lot grow.

If it does happen again, my friends say he will give it a good blast out with scolding steam, he has just found out that his nephew has a good professional type steamer, which his nephew says will kill anything. I will keep this thread up to date on this problem as things develop.

And the tent and equipment i bought were all brand new, still in their box's and wrappings.

Dude I have been growing for about 10 years and have killed probably thousands of plants over my career, thought about giving up a couple times but for some reason just kept truckin at it.. Had ex girlfriends try and get me in trouble for it, had a really really close call where I thought the cops were gonna kick my door down.. It took me years just to be able to get a decent crop.. so look at it this way, the more plants you kill the more your learning. I have fucked up ALOT, so don't ever quit growing and i swear someday you'll find your nitch and be growing some bomb ass buds. The more you grow the more you know

One more thing that I think is funny is when you hear people say "it's only a weed" cause IMO it's one of the hardest plants on the face of this earth to grow.

Even worse is the fact that if you grow bad tomatos you can still eat them or make sauce but bad weed is like totally useless. Peace

Cal/Mag. I promise. I wish I had the pics of my first 2 grows. They were IDENTICAL. It's an Mg def, but the plant needs C to effectively take up Mg, thus a cal/mag problem. I bet those leaves just crumble in your hand.
I thought (and was told by many knowledgeable people on several forums) that the problem was nute burn. So the second grow, I starved them. If ANYTHING there should have been a deficiency, but BAM, right in the middle to final weeks of flower, the same shit happened, I added Botanicares Cal-Mag the third grow and didn't have so much a a yellow tip.

Yer dude i got sensis cal mag, one for veg and one for flower if you wana believe the hype, its pretty strong and mainly chelated so i find i only need it every other watering but it dose no harm with every watering.

I think most cal/mags seem to suggest 2ml per litre as a guideline for RO water but mine makes little distinction between RO and normal water in dosing. I believe safe and recomended levels of cal/mag in water are between 100 to 200 with RO water going to 100ppm and other tap water going to 150 to 200ppm but after saying that my tap water is very low like 50ppm to 70ppm.

Futher to this the most used ratios of cal to mag which are even more important than the amounts so to say are 3:1 of calcium to magnesium, a good limed soil will not need such regular doses i suppose. Peace

Your right of course in that the more you grow the more you know, i guess its the same principle for most things, i had to chuckle about that weed bit, Weeds are supposed to grow any where, our types certainly dont.

I have not packed in all together, i struck what i think is a good deal with a friend of mine, i have given him the tent, lights fans plant pots etc, which he has set up in his house.
We have split the cost of buying the young plants, the growing medium and plant food, and he has taken over trying to grow the weed, in effect i have supplied the equipment and he is supplying the labour.
Once he gets a reasonable idea of what the electric comes to, i will also give him half of that.
If he can get the plants growing ok, i am going to buy another tent and equipment and do the same deal again, then he will start growing twelve plants, which then give me six plants for my self, which is about right for me. I just hope this batch do turn out ok, the plants have been in the tent at his place for about 4 or 5 days...ish now and when i spoke to him yesterday, they were still ok.

So its fingers crossed and hope for the best , i will keep posting back with the progress of these plants, even if only for a general interest to others and thanks for the encouragement i greatly appreciate that, cheers.

Keep updating us dude, growing indoors is a very steep learning curve but once you got it you never really loose it. Peace

Hi, just a quick update, the last lot of plants we put in are looking good up to now (fingers crossed) my mate is doing exactly as i was doing, same feed, same temperature etc, the only differences are that he has used both bleach and Jayes fluid to clean the tent.

Another difference is that the tent is now at his house instead of mine.

Another point i overlooked was that, i had stuck garden canes in to the plant pots, with raffia string to form a bit of a support frame to support the plants in the second batch.
They were new canes, bought from a garden supply shop, so it is a possibility that the canes or raffia had some infection on them, although with them coming from a gardening shop, we would expect them to have been sterilised, either way, we will just have to wait and see how it goes from here on.

I nipped over to my mates this morning, its the first time i have seen the plants for almost a fortnight. jumping Jehoshaphat, i kid you not, i unzipped the tent and it was like the day of the triffids in there. The plants are almost as tall as me and really thick and bushy, really healthy looking plants. Fingers crossed, things are looking good.

Get rid of their calmag and get some general organics calmag... botanicares calmag sucks in soil, IMO doesn't work worth a shit..

only happens if you start drying it out before harvest, the leaves will start dying. Or if its underfed..

It is one of the easiest plants in the world too grow. But...if you start off learning to grow on cannabis sites it quickly becomes a nightmare. Its an annual, nothing more, nothing less...and its needs are very basic.
