Cloning flowering plants question

Hi, this may be a stupid question but I am growing a few plants and I want to take clones off the females once they show they're female through flowering. Is there a definitive guide/thread on this? I think I remember it being called "monster cloning" but searching doesn't bring up anything. I mostly wonder if the clones should be cut once the buds start showing or as soon as it starts flowering, plus whether it's even worth attempting for a novice with no cloning experience. If anybody can tell me what it's called/link me to a good guide I'll +rep till I can't anymore. Thanks.

I cant tell you that thread but From what ive read cloning in flowering is tough, your chances of it rooting are cut in half.
or you can try and reveg her, but it can hermi on you

It's not a good idea to take cuttings from flowering plants for two reasons -

1) It stresses the flowering plant and can cause it to hermie.

2) Forcing the cutting back into vegetative growth can stress it and diminish it's genetic integrity causing possible abnormal growth, turning it into a hermie or reversing it's sex altogether. Plants flowered and forced back into vegetative growth can also yield less and produce less potent buds.

Next time take your cuttings in vegetative growth.

...how long are you into flowering?

They haven't started flowering yet (been on 12/12 for 2 weeks so hopefully will very soon) but I don't have much space and would only consider trying to make clones once I knew which was female. Maybe it's a bad idea. I'm just sure I read that taking clones from flowering plants produced clone plants with a huge amount of bud sites... Perhaps I dreamed that.

nah, ive done it a bunch of times, although i must say clones need extra care, but once rooted you take the clone & revegetate it with plenty of n ;-)
What is plenty of n, sorry? nutrients? Do you have any threads about doing it? I'm really looking for an in-depth journal/guide to see if it's worth it for me. Do your clones grow with hundreds more branches than a normal clone?

ive cloned 3 weeks into flower successfully and neither hermied...as for bud sites topping your plants and supercropping will increase ur yield

You dont need to top or FIM a flowered clone once it reverts back to veg stage. The growth takes off in all directions at a slightly accelerated rate. The clones should be taken around day 21 of flowering, if you want to attempt it. Take the clone from the lower branches are they will be softer, making rooting an easier transition. The fatality rate is much higher than attempting a normal clone however if you clone a monster cropped mother, the clone of the monster cropped mother will also be "monster cropped". I just read a whole chapter/section of a book on it. Whether this information is completely correct or not, its some-what of a make-shift guideline. Something to experiment with anyways! Good luck

u can take cutting at any stage man..they'll root quicker when u take them in bloom, but i agree there alot hardr to raise.
ANd....it dosnt stress them out!!! as long as u gentle!!NO PROB... and THey will have eXact!!charactoristics of the mother..!!exact!!!!!!!!!
and if they go hermie.....!!!!!they kinda, were ganna have tha endinsy to go that way anyway's!!
ive had 4 difrent strains that ive rotated for 3years now..mantaing can b a nightmare!!!!
iv lost strains .....and found it in the yard months later, forgeting tht id put the frikn thing there months earlier!!
it'd had been to hell and bak mind u.....and ive neglected the crap out of cutings loads of times!!!!!not delibratly....all of em !!!!!
no amount of stess i the world would send my clones hermie....... is a myth!!!!!!
never had a hermie.....!!!!!find a 100% female and her cuttings will do the same thing everytime(as long as theres no male's in there!!)
if there going hermi no amount off Stress protection or love in tha world wont stop tha bastard growing nuts..!!
P.S N stands for nitrogen......

so many myths..!!! wats supercroping, please dont say its sticking a bud in the ground and waiting for tha thing grow a million branches !!
and 10 times the size,MYTH..!! NOT POSSIBLe....

LMFAO!!..supercropping is no myth..it simply is manipulating the plant by either crimping, bending, tying, and/or topping...it will significantly increase yield beacuse it makes for more bud sites closer to the lighting

kool .soz, supercroping as u say. aint wat i thought u ment then ,thou crimping stunts!!tying works...topping stunts & will reduces the end result i rekon.i genrally have to tie my main crowns to the roof after 2weeks into bloom just to support tha thing... and get more wight into em!!
thats super budding :-)

1.By supercropping i meant pinching and twisting a branch untill you start to feel the insides start to callpse under the pressure of ur finger. You just squeeze lightly untill you feel the branch give then let go. Pinched plants usually grow into very healthy bushes with thick stems and branches. Super cropping is also a good way of getting several main colas. The pinched branches will eventually grow so thick that the plant will treat them as if they were dominant shoots instead of secondary branches.
2.topping only stunted my plants growth for 1 week..i got 4 main colas off of it so it definitely increased my yeild

sure bro from1 conisuer to anotha"{pinching and twisting a branch untill you start to feel the insides start to callpse under the pressure of ur finger}"
i use to do the same thing mate, till i notice afew things happen'n (and went did a horticulture certificate's and learnt a thing or 2)
doing this effectively squashes the floem and xyleme tha vascular veins of plants .(inside the stem}
xfloem....feeds leaves buds and colars...
floem.... dispersese uneeded water ,nutrients and hydroscopic water/nutrient's bak to roots and soil.
bringing me to tha point u say..
"{The pinched branches will eventually grow so thick that the plant will treat them as if they were dominant shoots instead of secondary branches"}
your colars do and will thicken up..but i rekon, this has reduced my overall yeild'n'result in tha past.
and they say it can and will promote pest n deseases in plants and....collars!!
i think u can (and i do....now) induce thicker collars in other ways. tweaking n.p.k levels would b at tha top of the list!!
i.e going off a simple proven rule (any horticulturist will agree)
nitrogen N... for leaves and folage
phosphrus P...(THee important 1 for this topic) roots ,steems ,auxilary buds(collars),nodes ...also correct ratios at the rite time
in this senario.. grow can/will affect thickness off steems determining an out-come between short-thick n chunky nodes/collars(correct ratio)
and having thin-leggy weak nodes/steems/colars..booh!!
then later on tru bloom in thee later stages will help thickn buds/yeild up also increase resin/oil content(cannabanoid tricomes)
potasium...k (kalium) thru grow aids vigor and health....then later on , increases bud/fruit size's quantity, quality.among loads of other essntial roles
adding a week to my schedual would annoy me..i do my grow in 21/24 days and blooms in 49/52 days.1200gm's/1600 watts.
i rekon that if u find a decent strain u dont need to minipulate them as much ,keep to a consistant feed schedule
And you'll end up with a Supercrop..!!!!!
