Dusting Buds with Sulphur Dust to Prevent Mold

why bother with sulfer just goin to kill your self or someone else if they smoke it no matter where you are wouldnt worry bout mold if plants are still growing its when you chop it you need to get it to ventelated area asap normally outdoor you chop second frost

So the majority of mold dont occur while the plant is still growing but while drying?

this isn't so jj. He may be a indoor grower. Later in the year your plants are very susceptible to mold. Be careful, while buds can mold drying in my experience i only have this problem if my buds had mold to begin with.

yea I've never had to deal with mold during flowering but have dealt with it a little bit when i grew 2 years ago and harvested 1/2 ounce...that was my first time growing and i was a bit inexperienced and ANXIOUS more than anything, so i let the buds dry like 4-5 days and didn't take them out of the jars during curing so a little mold developed which tainted the smell but was promptly corrected

i was asking because in my region i am going to hit frost somewhere between oct 1st and 10th, but for a full 8 week flower they would need to be in the ground untill oct 20ithish to the 25ithish yano, so im obv going to need to harvest early im just trying to get a clue as to how other outdoor growers harvest in accordance to frost, hunters isnt really an issue its behing my house in a 150 acre patch of woods but there are house surrinding the very very outside so no hunting allowed, i also post signs saying no trespassing as roughly 100 of those acres are my land.

and unohu69 that is a great suggestion i do have the ability to move them from direct morning sun if a frost does occur so the plant wont burn up, i havd never thought of having to thaw the plant after it potentially frosted, they re in large buckets and a bitch to move but it is possible to get better results/save my ladies.

AND Matt Rize, you say wait on harvest for time purposes but definetly dont let the plant hit a frost twice? harvest before the second frost?

Just looking for a better growers insight this is my first outdoor grow and it looks danks, my trichs are filling in bomb right now and its only week 3 look like they are covered in powdered sugar hahaha, im addicted to growing and cant stop, dont get me wrong i love smokin buds but growin the shit feels awesome when your done, like yeah i made that dank weed, not you.

Yeah, I dont like missing morning sun either, but sometimes its the lesser of two evils. We also have a strain that like to take its sweet time finishing up, so it has been suggested to plant it on a north side of a hill it should finish earlier. All ready in this year, so might have to try it next.


Mold is an issue every year. I have lost a decent portion of a plant to it. Its hard for Guerrilla farming because you cant babysit your shit. Mother nature sometimes doesnt work with us very well. The only thing I have found is making sure they are standing up. heavy fall storms knock heavy plants over fairly easily.
I have learned NOT to cut out sucker leaves, and if you do, take the stem all the way in to where it attaches. Otherwise mold Will occur. Pull off the dead leaves that droop and wrap around any part of the plant.

You can try trimming mold out (it helped only a little) Airflow and moisture control is the key here. You have no control over the moisture tho.

Yeak,molds a fucker. Lost 2 and a half pounds a couple yrears ago drying some bubblegum. The freshly trimmed bud looked good ,but the spores were there but unable to see. Tried a slow cure with low temps in a barn loft and within 2 -3 days,the botrylis hit.
