a PH question

If my water out of the tap is 6.8 (before nutes) and my run off is 5.4 what should my PH going in be to have a correct run off PH?

I've got a few grow under my belt and haven't really toyed with PH but if it helps get bigger nug I want to try.

I have no idea what the PH of my water is after nutes are added, never checked it

I've always grown in ffof with a 1 tables spoon of crushed dolomite lime added per gallon of dirt.

Add nutes, check, needs to be between 6 and 7 6.5 is the best, make sure to distill or purify straight up tap water.

Hello fellow. I Would highly suggest you do some reading on pH. It's because of pH that certain nutrients cannot be absorbed by the plant. http://www.420genetics.com/faq/ph3.jpg here is just a random chart I found on google. It shows which nutrients are available on which sides of the pH scale. By knowing this, you can react on nutrient defficiencies much better. Also, dont purify or reverse-osmosis your water. If the ppm of the water is under 50, and there is a lack of a nutrient that the plant needs inside it's water, the plant will release that nutrient into the water, making deficiencies much more common. If you have awesome nutrients that give the plant all it needs, you should filter. Also, Again I would highly recommend ph'ing your nutes before adding. You'll see a difference.aim for 6.5.

I just purify mine because the city water has TOO much chlorine, but if you have well water or good city water you dont have to purify ur right

But if my run off is 5.4 and my tap is 6.8 shouldn't I us PH up for the tap? Until my run off is 6.5? Shit, Now I'm getting confused.

In other words shouldn't I just adjust the ph of my tap and AIM for a 6.5 run off?

I typically don't worry myself with run-off pH in soil grows. I feed @ 6.5~ and everything looks amazing like usual

yeh i add nutes to res then ph adjust to 5.5-6.3 chek every day make sure alls good ur ph always goes up even mine did after i socaked my cubes just keep tabs on it so it dont go too hi buy a digitial ph meter 9.99 on ebay

Not enough. Use 2tbl/gallon of mix and your run off will be right.

It's hard to over apply lime, but you can certainly under apply it, with the results that you're having.

I don't pH anything going in and use tap water.
