True Beginner / Poor Man's Grow

Waddup everyone?? Been crazy busy with the band and work and girlfriend lately, havn't had much time for the computer. I have a bug problem (long skinny black ones) that are all over a few of my plants. They aren't spreading too fast so I'm not really gonna stress about it until I get payed. Looks like I'm about 3-5 weeks out from my next harvest. None of my plants look to amazing, so I only took pics of my favorite went ahead and planted 2 Black Sour Bubble x Caseyband, 2 C4 x Caseyband, and 2 Calizhar x Caseyband about 3 days ago, have 2 sprouts so far. All is good, seems like my perp. is finally starting to set in, and I should be able to harvest enough to keep me having personal smoke. Hopefully once the other seeds grow older I'll be able to have some more for friends √

My band and I went to NC last weekend to play at the SCMC Music Conference. http://www.facebook.com/SCMCMusicConference They have a website as well. I'm somewhere in this video √ http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ILWZWG_zuAs We were able to listen to 5 ANR's (music scouts) for various labels like Cash Money, Convict Music, Atlantic Records, and several others, give us tips on how to "make it" in this business. Also we were able to play one song in front of the ANR from Antlantic. He said he enjoyed our music and that he could see our music in movies and comercials √ Also he said we needed to record some songs as a band, and send them to us. He even gave us his personal e-mail √. Hopefully we'll be able to hit the studio in the next couple of weeks and throw some tracks down.

I know I've said this before, but I think I'm really starting to see some ill effects from Miracle Gro soil. I planted 3 seeds about a month ago, and right around 2 weeks they stunted, then died :/ No biggie, I just figured my temps might be a little high but the next go around I should be good...since I've cooled down my cab a tad. Still seems to be happening. I get payed this week so if I have enough money to grab a cheap bag of just plain old soil, then I'm gonna grab some. I feel like the nutrients in the soil are killing the plant. Anyway, I planted another 6 about a week and a half ago, and they are still trucking along. Some of them are starting to turn a little light green, but a couple of them are just fine....hopefully they can make it through the next week or 2. Once they start growing the 3rd set I'll be much more relaxed.

I harvested Erin yesterday, because she had about 75% brown hairs and 60-70% amber. She weighed out to 18.1 wet. Most of my plants take about a 36 hrs to dry out, but I'm thinking she's probably going to take a full 48+. I'll post pictures in a little bit....it's taken me about an hour to type this message Lol got distracted several times. Thanks for following!

thanks bro, you should try some of the jungle growth soil from lowes, if available in your area, its really good shit. if not, ive used scotts hyponics, plain black soil and had good results with it also. i got that at walgreens, a dollar or so for an 8 pound bag. cant wait to see the pics.

Picture Update! Not a lot to say, I pretty much summed it up last post....Sorry I've been slacking on pictures, still trying to dial in my setup. Pictures are in no specific order, but named. (75-25 is a clone of the 75-25 plant) The rest are seeds (except the tiny clone) I'm pretty sure the small double cola plant is the same pheno as Erin.

The big double plant I topped at the 3rd true node, and the small one I fimmed at the 3rd true node. The fim ended up giving me 2 big tops and 4 teeny tiny tops, so I just cut them off.

So I was on ebay last night checking out prices on some LEDs, Grow Tents, and other stuff, and came across a 4x4 Grow Tent with a 400w Ballast, hood, HPS and MH bulb. The description says they were used for less than 6 months, and the auction was at 0 bids with 12 hours to go and starting at $222 + $50 shipping. Looked pretty cool and fairly cheap, so I watched it for a couple of hours and realised somebody had bid. I figured fuck it, why not....I get payed Wed, and with only one bill to pay this week, should have enough play money to do so. So I bet $222.50, and woke up this morning to a wonderful text message saying I had one the auction lol. Here it is:

I took some pictures yesterday but was having trouble getting them on my computer...so I went ahead and just did a couple the long way. Anyway, here you go guys! This are 2 of my flowering girls I love the most. I have these 2 and then 3 others of that brickweed crap....my clones failed this round for these plants, but it's all good cuz I have some Calizhar and Purple seeds that have sprouted and look great!

I sprayed the little hydro plant with some bug killer and fucked it all up, so that one and my other 4th set seedling look horrible.....I'm pretty sure both will be fine though, cuz they are both showing side growth.

since spring i had some issues with mold for alot of seeds. the seed is a wierd orange and if theres a black spot they dont grow. my maples all grew. unfortunaly i didnt put them in seperate pots so transplant killed all but 2.

ouch, that's no good....have you made sure the soil stayed nice and damp? I like to put a dome on mine atleast until the sprout breaks soil.
Have you tried germinating them in water for 12 hours before planting them? That might help.

Whats the black stuff on the last two pictures?

Well, I just started growing around Feb '11....I started off with CFLs, with a plan to have a SOG grow of party cups. I realized without the right type of strain a SOG is a horrible decision, and then started using some 6" pots. I got a 175w MH around May or June of this year, and have been loving it ever since. Once I weeded out males and sicklings, I ended up with about 5 plants, one of my plants was growing roots out of the cup so I figured, shit, why not make it a hydro plant? To be honest with you I hated Hydro up till about now....it was so much work, and touchy....although the buds were much thicker. Just recently I switched up nutes and have had what I feel as an awesome turnout for hydro. I'm still growing one Brickweed plant in a DWC which seems to be doing great. not to sure how the screens really doing for them, but I'll definitely give that another go soon.

I just ordered a 4x4 grow tent as well as a 400w MH/HPS kit, so hopefully I'll be able to get 8-12 3 gallon girls in there perpetually. Thinking about buying some Mylar Fabric and making 1x4 of the grow tent a hole different section...that way my veg box and flowering box can all be in one piece and stealthyish


as far as the block spots....I'm 99% positive it's bug damage. They've been there for a good while, just never really had any money to do anything about it until now. I bought some Safer soap and burned my plants with it the other day, so I figured I'd just wait it out for another 3-5 weeks when all my girls will be done, and I can clean up shop.

The brickweeds smoke was great! Very very smooth, much more potent than the way I bought it. I'm not gonna lie though, it SUCKED to trim, and weighed absolutely nothing. It's definitely worth the time to find some bud instead of brick. Even if it's the least potent bud you've ever smoked....if you grow it, and take care of it, it will always get you good and high imo √
