i've got the smart meter technology on my water meter too. it's great never having a stranger walking through my property looking at meters and what ever else they might see.

I came home and they were installing that friggin thing on my home. The meter is just the other side of the outside wall from my bedroom with the bed up against it. I don't think it is a good thing to be exposed to the radiation or the constant microwaves or whatever so they can have a constant data transmission. They will use the information collected to charge us more.

With the new EPA clean air regs. power companies will be shutting down more and more coal powered plants because they can't afford to retrofit their plants with the scrubbers. EPA with it's rules will be reducing the amount of power produced just as usage is increasing and will continue to increase. DTE has stated that in 10 years brown outs will happen. Be ready and be self-sufficient.

They pull up to my fence and use binoculars to read my meter, nobody is allowed on my property for any reason unless I invite them or they come to my front door.

And a "smart" meter is not an option, I will finish solar installation before I allow one to be installed. Not finished with getting off the "grid" but getting close... living in the countryside owns.

*I should own stock in companies that make "beware of dog" and "no trespassing signs"....... I know the meter guy, he is local, and even tho he knows my pack of dogs.... 3... he and the electric company IREA know not to come onto my property. Plus , you have to cut the chains or locks on my fence entrances to get in.

Instead of monthly usage or quarterly usage they constantly update usage. You can figure out what the lights on/ lights off routine of somebody is with one of these.
