RollitUp *FIRST* 2'x2.5'x5' 400wHPS SCRoG

whats up rollitup. this is my second grow ever.
her name is marta. not sure why, just came to mind. >pre 98 bubba kush
the 3 day sprout is lucy. she is of the "blackwater" sativa tribe. should be tasty

to give everyone the run down up to this point i have a few photos i've snapped throughout martas' grow and ultimately a full grow from seed to finish with Lucy and her amazing Blackwater strain.



I began vegging out under 2 85w65k CFL's + 150wHPS.
The last week or two I gave her full light for vegg, as well as began trimming her skirt

Flowering began on the 2nd with an,
240 cfm air cooled 400wHPS hood in a 2ftx2.5ftx5ft panda filmed grow space.




Now at day 11, last night I trimmed her skirt up quite a bit more
in nine more days she'll get one last heavy(ish) trimming to allow the light to better budsites. My screen size is roughly 20x27"s and set at 9 inches high.

and this is Lucy.



Broke surface on the 10th<...> three days of growth.


Lucy is my first bean to super dank. I'm going to try and set up cO2 for her.
She will certainly be getting the treatment through and through.

Anyhow this is my first ever post at RIU so i'm hoping for a postive response with this.

Grabbing a seat for this one. Love old school strains. (can't belive 98 is old-school though). Starting my perpetual under a 400w hps, just sog tho. 4x4 flowering area. Ill put it in my sig today. Going scrog with lucy i assume? Cant wait to see your results! ;]

Nice lookin' DWC plant, very strong and healthy. But I don't think you could call this a scrog. Your screen is more of a plant support and spreader, not a true scrog. But I do think that you will end up with a good yield.

sorry for freakin out a little soon. i was just kind of tired of the city ways...i tried to keep up a journal before this, and now this one, and now for Lucy to come into play, and nobody would ever follow. why would i ever keep up my journal riskin mah neck if nobody cares?? but now i see people do care

i'll definitely folllow your sog. i have been wondering about doing it. yes i plan to SCRoG out suzy, as soon as "wattsaver" explains how to better my SCRoG for me
i would certainly like to SCRoG out Lucy and clone her 9 times for a soil SOG grow. would be interesting to do a little taste testing in and out of water.

please explain more for me. i'll snap some more photos right now before she sleeps. i wondered if i was doing it correctly. then again what is correctly? some of the main outter limbs have massive colas and more to the center i'll see the more even "canopy" look
i have been doing my best to keep the massive colas' fan leaves tucked out of the way, or snipped off if in the way of other bud sites...
I also LST over at 8 inches high during Vegg to mimick the screen i put it at 9 inches high above the DWC. the only other thing i think i could have done would be to top it out some more.
i follow a guy on youtube, he to me is pretty much a SCRoG god. 4x4 single plant SCRoGs yieled lbs.... anyhow though i test ran a top job about 4 days into flower.
he tops his about the same time and gets krazzie tops all over, nice and even. so i'm thinking i need to get better at it and not be such a scaredy cat to do it.
any suggestions at all would be awesome.

i had the thought that i should possibly locate the larger branches during Vegg and possibly top them much earlier on then top during pre flower, or during the "grow" portion. if that makes sense....

wow. i did just about two seconds of poking around the forums here.
i came from GC. honestly, nobody has shown nor explained how to work the tie down deal.
i see it now though thats for sure on RIU. i have also heard that tying down improves yield.

for Lucy i'll definitely be tying down. goodness. i'll be tying down for sure.... uggh ... dissapointment.

Other than my stupidity on the SCRoG concept, here is what she looks like tonight


^^ i almost totally forgot about this. i topped her once about day 6 flower. and now we have two.

after tying down Lucy, i'll for sure be topping every other bud site.
i'm also looking to panda film the entire closet and scrog out two plants with a 400+150HPS.
i'll have to get back with ya'll on that though

and i was just kind of impressed with the formation


took away her added grow nutrient, and now more focused with the big bud.
she seems to take the nutrients in very well so i just keep em going.

gotta say though. now i understand more fully on the entire concept of SCRoG, and now about to SCRoG my entire closet the right way.

i can only imagine a sea of blackwater in there....

i'm thinking with an entire closet to work with, i may start another bean. might as well double the fun for christmas

i dropped the bean in the water. i figure the closer together lucy and ??? are the better.

she's a fem dank seed. one of four strains. we'll keep it a mystery and take guesses when she harvests.

Hi there, been looking through your thread, I was planning on getting a tent about that size and wanted to use a 400w, do you find you can manage temp easy enough with a 240cfm?

to be honest with you, i built a frame out of 1x2's attached it to a 1/2 plywood board and panda filmed it.

if you would like i could show you a picture from further out.

but to answer you question more fully. the tent i have put together along with the 240cfm inline + two 70cfm axial fans, everything works well besides the "door"

i have a piece of cardboard covering the corner (door) with staples through the panda to the cardboard....

with that said the overall 340cfm that gets sucked out of there is plenty enough to keep my temperature inside nearly the same as ambient, 74 degrees about 7 inches from the lamp.

the tent i've put together though mind you does "suck itself in" if i'm not careful.. haha. thus i'm panda filming the closet doors as of now to open the entire "panda room" haha. i love this stuff. haah

if you have purchased an actual tent, i would hope that it wouldn't do what mine does, and i would think you'd be golden. i have a 6inch aircooled hood attached directly to the inline fan though...
