Update week 5 under the 600HPS in soil and air pots...



















Much better side branch development in the soil and air pot and much healthier looking plants overall, I will try a run in soil and air pot under the LED before making any final decisions but right now the LED plants are not doing as well. I still feel it's down to the rockwool on this occasion. Whether the LED can do as good a job with a new run we will have to wait and see...

EDIT: Also note that there are a number of sharksbreath clones that are flowering amongst the greenomatics as well.

The basics first - NO DIGITAL BALLASTS (you will destroy the bulb) only use a regular 400 watt High Pressure Sodium (HPS) ballast, the are designed to be EITHER horizontal or vertical (they can not be used universally) and most growers report better success with the use of supplemental silica.

Ahhh I hate RW, bummer to hear it's messing up the side by side. When you do your LED soil run you should throw one or two of the girls in those fabric smart pots so we can see how they do next to the air pots. 2 gal fabric pots are like $2 a piece

Since you like to use different lights, you should really look into CMH bulbs. They have a spectrum closest to the sun's. Only problem is right now them only go up to 400w and you have to use a magnetic ballast to run it.

I'd like to stop experimenting to be honest, and I could never drop to 400's now plus I really don't want to buy new ballasts, I would much rather wait for them to make a 600 that can work with digi ballast.

Anybody Could I grow in a working fridge wtih Blackstar 500 watt? the fridge has a freezer which will disable. the carbon filter will be in there. Please help asap

As long as you can recreate the indoor environment I see no problem, I think many use a fridge. Can the unit fit in there though?

Hey newworld! Everything is looking excellent man! Fuck rockwool though. Too many problems with that shit. Sticking to root riot cubes and soil now.
I just finished a run of UK Cheese and the Flav with the air pots. A 5 gallon regular pot vs a 3 gallon air pot. The goal was to try to save on soil (I'd heard because of the root mass I wouldn't need as big an air pot for the same yield as a regular pot). That turned out wrong. The yield and size of the 5 gallon pot plant destroyed the air pots yield and size! Double the size easily. I loved the air pots for veg and plan on doing the side-by-side again with bigger air pots through flower. Just thought I'd share. I'd recommend putting your plants in bigger pots before flowering.

Good info mate, currently I have the autos in a 1lt air pot and if I'm honest I think they are seemingly getting root bound, I am watering them every day now. I was thinking to use 3l next time but considering your results I may consider the fabric pots now.

UPDATE: Start of week 9 today which is technically the last week according to the breeder but already I can see that some plants are no where near being finished. Supposed to be 60 days but I can see another week or two at least on these. I'm now wondering if the LED and rockwool is having a slowing effect on them. Anyway the resin production is by far the best I've gotten off any plants but the yield is pitiful to say the least. As things stand now I reckon I may only get 2 ounces dry if I am lucky. The buds are rock hard but no more so than under the 600. Again I would like to state that I feel a lot of this is down to the rockwool, it was the first time I used it and think I have gotten it wrong. I would still like to give the panel another opportunity to show what it can do to plants in soil as a medium.

I have snipped some lower buds and dried them to smoke and can honestly say WOW for an autoflower, they are very strong and are not even at full tilt yet. I am impressed with the product but not the yield which is the real factor here. The imbalance is still too far apart for my liking. In all honesty the run under the 600 is far more bigger and developed for where they are at in the life cycle and overall will easily produce an ounce each. I cannot say the same for the LED plants. Future runs will give me/us the answer to these questions....

i wonder how the final weights will compare with the hps....lol sorry but im still lovin hps

i should try a sog run, i always do bush's and can only fit 4 inmy tent, i bet i could hit my limit at 12 with a sog style

UPDATE on the 600HPS girls...

They are doing very well, this last week has been on 12/12 to really get the flowering going, I am now back on 18/6 for the rest of the grow. At the back of the tent are a number of photoperiod plants that will be the next generation of mothers including deep sweet grapefruit, blue hash, moby dick, gigabud, skunk #1....etc. The 18 greenomatics are obvious...
