Apartment Smell

Hey so was just curious for those who live in an apartment without roommates to worry about. What do you use for growing smell (guessing a DIY carbon filter based on the odor control thread) but do you guys worry/what do you use for general smoking? I mean i think the smoke smells just as dank as plants some times but i rarely see anyone with air filters.

Let me know your apartment odor experiences growing/smoking please!
And tips would be even better :P

I would say it depends on the size/proximity to a hallway where others would walk by and catch a wiff. I used to place fans in the windows to get rid of the smoke, one fan blowing in, the other blowing out. Worked really well, also I read a post here about someone putting dryer sheets on the backside of the fan and letting it pull air through them.

Isnt ozone dangerous? And i wouldnt be able to cut a hole in the apartment to vent anywhere, unless i could vent it out the dryer exhaust? That might work.

get your self a toilet paper roll (empty) and shove it full of dryer sheets pack it down pretty good and just exhale through that works like a charm and cheap as shit

Sure dryer vent is a good idea.. just get a "Yadapter"
And get a "Back Draft Damper"This goes on the dryer vent then to the "Y"
a few dollars @ Home Depot
When you create "Negative Air Pressure" in your home odors and smells are drawn away from doors and windows where the air flows INTO the home...just use a good exaust fan!
If you prefer chemicals ... ONA all the way.

a grow tent with a inline fan/carbon filter will completely eliminate smell. With a passive intake and negative pressure the fan will pull air into the tent if you have any pinholes or anything like that.

I can walk all around my tent and not smell anything at all. I just leave my inline/filter on 24/7

My last two grows were in an apartment and I had absolutely no odor problems....I used a hole saw to cut 4" hole in the ceiling and vented through the attic..with the addition of a bag of Gonzo odor eliminator and my odor problem was solved...I patched the 4" hole with the cookie I cut out when I move out and it looked great

If your really worried about smell, then you can't beat a carbon filter. HTG supply has a 4 inch carbon filter and fan combo for like $120. It works nicely. As far as smoking goes, just go in the bathroom and shut the door. Turn on the shit fan and your all set.

Thanks for all the replies and links! Think i want to pass on ona/chemicals heard some reports of it making the buds taste/smell funny and would rather be safe.

Will venting into the dryer vent/attic provide enough negative pressure or is there something else you should do as well?

Yes i would suggest a Suncourt Inline Fan like this one.
I would suggest the 6" use a reducer and a speed control... its better to have more power you can slow down than max out a smaller fan.. Suncourt is the ONLY brand ive seen that uses a SEALED PLASTIC housing .... i use one myself and its VERY quiet..

For smoking, I save the fresh produce bags from grocery shopping (the flimsy plastic ones you put your veggies in). Take a bong hit, exhale hit into bag, twist closed and put into freezer. The freezer reduces the temp of the smoke in the bag quickly, which reduces the smell (cold things reek less than warm things). The bag keeps it contained. After an hour you can just empty the bag with no smell at all. The particulates and oils have condensed ono the surface of the bag. Any residual smell is contained by the freezer box itself, if any exists. A twist tie or small clamp makes a fast way to seal it when your eyes are watering and your slinging spit and coughing from a serious toke ;)

Sounds retarded but it works for me.
