I figured now would be an appropriate time for another entry considering I just fixed the PH problem! I had been adjusting the water I use by about 1/2 a teaspoon of vinegar per gallon of water to bring it down from an 8 to about a 6.5-7. However, this wasn't enough and the problem kept happening (leaves getting orange and brown spots/curling). So, following Kpac and Brown Bear Clan's advice, I decided to flush out the pots with about 9 gallons of PH adjusted water each. The plants have been happy as pigs in shit ever since and they're growing faster than ever.
I also added a few bottles which you might find interesting. What they contain is 1 cup sugar, 1 liter water, and about a tablespoon of yeast. Each of these bottles has a hole in it's cap where I've inserted aquarium tubing and hot glued around the edges to ensure nothing leaks out due to the back-pressure. Why, you may ask? Yeast, a microscopic organism, loves to eat sugar. When it does this, it produces a gassy fizz, the same thing that makes bread rise. This fizz is Carbon Dioxide, which produces pressure and travels down the airlines directly into my plants. Because CO2 sinks, I make sure to position the bottles above the plants and the tubes near the head of each plant. A GREAT way to get extra CO2 to your plants for under $10.
I've topped the left and right plants just so my middle one can keep up- it seems more focused on side branching. I don't think it will make much of a difference in growth pattern, considering all the ducks grow like they've been topped anyway with the most excessive automatic side branching I've ever seen. EVERY possible node for growth sprouts a long, bushy branch on it's own. They're probably about 2 feet tall each at this point in the game. Attached are some pictures of the whole setup. Enjoy!
