Here's the thing.

In order for me to answer the question directed to me about "why" I believe homosexuality is wrong, requires me to quote scripture...
so, it is wrong for someone to be born gay because a millenia old book says so?

i thought god was supposed to be infallible and omnipresent. if he is both of these things, why would he allow one of his creations to be wrong?

i would put away the dusty old book and start asking yourself why someone born with a preference for apples over oranges is "wrong".

without consulting scripture.

I don't think a single person said anything in this thread suggesting that "being gay was wrong."
... I believe homosexuality is wrong...
i had a good feeling i was right about this one.

i still can't fathom why a human would call another human "wrong" for being born some way or the other.

we are all god's children.

is the black guy wrong for being born black? am i wrong for being born white? are you wrong for being born hetero?

we can't exactly help these things. they were all out of our control.

Most followers of a religion are not interested in questioning everything they believe. Its a blind faith....so watch out for dog shit and atom bombs :)

I believe anything that limits a civil liberty should take it in the .....:) ESPECIALLY if that something is from a source of " ALL LOVING" . How could someone...or a GOD create SOMEONE HE DOES'nT LOVE....GAY OR NOT?????

If my son or daughter wanted to be homosexual I would'nt banish them to hell cause that is what my pope tells me to do while jerkin it in lil billies butt. Especially Christianity which is plagued with its own issues of CHILD ABUSE!( perhaps god was against grown men on BOYS kinda GAY??????) I would personally rather have my children be gay then to force them into some church just to get molested by some bible humping pedophile!

Eh i dont agree with homosexuality however it is a Mans (Womans) right to live the life they choose regardless of anyones else's opinion. America is suppose to be a place where people of variating views can coexist.

i respect your tolerance, but wonder why you don't "agree" with homosexuality.

do you also disagree with redheads? with heteros? with mongoloids?

no one can help being born a certain way.

Any reason to not agree? When I used to be a little homophobic the only reason I could think about was that it wasn`t a natural thing to do.

Look around you, see many natural things? The damn world is crawling with people, I`m quite happy with gays to be honest. They end up adopting children too, its quite nice. You should come to terms with things in your mind and make complete peace with it because it IS peaceful.

Also gays are OPEN MINDED people. They are people who understand the stupid judgemental crap of society and free themselves of it for their choice. This gives them a high rank amongst other people in my eyes.

Plus girls really like them too. They are one of the few young men they can talk to without knowing they want to get in their pants.

I wonder how that may or may not conflict with state sodomy laws? It's okay to be gay, but no gay sex.
Just another group of "none of your business" laws. They need to get rid of them all. Any law based on religion is a joke. Not saying all laws spoken of in religion are bad, but the laws that are only there because of religion or just to make money... Like gay marriage, sodomy, or marijuana to name a few.

Keeping gays away from marriage is just an easy way to keep them away from a lot of good benefits and other similar things married couples have access too. At least originally it was, then later they make up new "separate but equal laws" to try to cover up the fact that the original law was wrong to begin with. Such as allowing gay couples SOME of the rights married couples have or decriminalizing marijuana but still taking licenses and fining people.. Just because it isn't as bad as it used to be doesn't make it good.

In Ohio it's a minor misdemeanor and $150 fine for possession of under 100g, a little under four ounces. That offense gets expunged after a period of time with no more criminal activity. NO lasting criminal record.. BUT! They also have a law that any drug offense is a mandatory suspension of your driver's license for at least 6 months and up to 5 years. How contorted are the laws now when you can lose your license over a half gram of marijuana and screw your life up but still have no criminal record... Then forced to pay to get license reinstated if you wanna drive again.

Now laws are all about making money. Gays always have deserved their right for their relationships to be taken as seriously just like how marijuana has always deserved to be taken seriously without all the negative stereotypes attached. The only things any of us should be against are things like murder, abuse, and dishonesty and maybe a few others.

it doesn't seem natural when a plant of mine grows buds and balls, but it is just a normal variation on plant sexuality.

just as being born gay or straight are both normal variations of human sexuality.

it doesn't make it wrong, it just is what it is.

I think people engage in things that are wrong, but that does not mean that they are wrong. Does that make sense?
I believe people have a propensity for sin....all of us lie. All of us. Nobody is perfect.

I probably have many beliefs that you don't agree with. I don't believe we are "all" God's children either.
I believe it is wrong to engage in sex without being married.

I'm not trying to argue about what I believe.

I have told you that I believe homosexuals should have the same benifits of marriage through civil unions.

I have told everyone that it is wrong to be hateful or unkind to them.

My initial comments were to state my concerns that believer's rights will likely be chipped away, mainly because they are trying to "mainstream" this issue. Gays are forcing the assumption that they have it so damn tough here because we won't allow them to be "married".
I believe civil unions should be fine.
Others disagree. I'm good with that.

It is unfortunate that a few others here want to continue to press things and sorry mixupmindbender, I will not be baited into an argument with you. I'm not the one doing the hating here, so you can go piss up another tree because I will not waste my time with you. Play with your own ass.

Hmm Civil Unions.. You mean SEPARATE BUT EQUAL? I'm also pretty sure gays don't think they have it "so damn tough" because of marriage. It could be the people that are throwing bricks out their windows at them, or dragging them from cars. They just want everything equal now so why not focus on having equal respect... OBVIOUSLY something they don't have judging by your post.

Oh FFS....you make it sound as though I want them to ride in the back of the bus.

I have made my opinions very clear. If you disagree, fine. Have a nice day anyway. I'm rolling another tangerine dream and moving on.

Wow....and this person has the signature line that reads: peace. love. life. happiness.....

Whether or not you want to accept it, many people believe gay marriage is wrong. It is what it is.
What I don't understand is, why in the hell can't gay people leave the term marriage alone, and get on with civil unions.
I think both should give the same rights...and both sides could be happy.

But noooooo
They think it's fine to mess with biblical/scripture/tradition. They want to make it criminal for pastors who will not service gay marriage. THAT, is what is wrong with this whole thing.
why should gays be seperate but equal? why cant we all just be equal? the word marriage is not really only a religious thing anymore. how many non religious people get married nowadays?! ive never seen my mom or stepdad step foot in a church, and theyre married. so why do they get that right when gay people dont? i would think divorcing straight couples makes marriage look a lot worse than two gay people staying married.

and you are WRONG about priests being forced to marry gay people. NOBODY, straight or gay, can force a priest to do that. he can say no

you dont think its okay to be hateful or unkind to them, yet its okay to shun them in our society, and make them feel like lesser of a person because of who they are? its okay to send them to eternal damnation just because they like the same sex? in your own words, you are wrong.

it is not your religious right to force your beliefs on others. by making it ILLEGAL for gays to be married, you are forcing your RELIGIOUS views on them.
heres a hypothetical situation: what if society was different, and being gay was the norm? would it be okay for them to tell you that you cannot marry a person of the opposite sex, simply because they dont like it? no! so why is it okay for you to do it to them?

you most definitely are the one hating... just because it is your belief, does not mean society as a whole believes it also. religious freedom is not an excuse for this

I just wanted to add that I respect everyone's opinion regardless if I agree with it or not. On that note, I wish to add that there was a point in human time where civil unions was on the books....some may know it as "common law marriage" its an undeclared marriage but still a union. The reason no state honors that anymore is because it causes separation in a place where everyone has equal rights.

If sex before marriage is wrong then hitting puberty must be a sin. Or more so, having a dirty thought or looking at dad's penthouse. Marriage can be a holy sacrament, but its irrelevant in human law. Gay or heterosexual marriage is the only way to create equality. Any thing other than is bias.

Its always a good perspective to flip the script. I do it often when it comes to the USA, INC. having occupation in countries that we would never allow in our own. A major part of the world HATING us, is we feel the need to occupy every corner of the world without letting one ounce of the outside in our own. Its all about equality.

For the record the UN acknowledges only one country as having WORLD WIDE jurisdiction ....thats us...big ol USA, INC. Its not fair, nor equal....so we must handle the consequences of being the world's police. Since 1994 we have spent more money on the Department of Corrections than we do in the Department of Education!! I have always said that if we spent more money educating our children then maybe we would'nt have to spend so much to lock people up.

We have the largest incarceration percentage in the world. bar none. Almost double that of china's....yet we are free????? Right. I call serious bullshit!

Pre-becoming a Christian i felt and still do feel its unnatural, just not my cup of tea. Post becoming a Christian...well im sure we know where thats going.

And yes i feel its a choice.

But leave it at that, i do not want to degenerate my comment into a debate. :)

Simply dont agree, unnatural and religious reasons. With that said one of my best friends is gay and i do have quite a few other friends who are gay (male and female) and they are some of the greatest people ive ever had the privilege of knowing. I just dont agree with their decision.

Ya wanna know what I really HATE?

I hate the fact that people like you make all kinds of assumptions and then spout off half-cocked as though you know the facts.

I am sending no one into eternal damnation. Actually, neither is the God I believe in, you're going there anyway if one doesn't do something about it....but that's another discussion.

It's already illegal in most states and federally. I am not making it illegal.
I suggest the compromise of civil unions.

I have not forced my belief on ANYONE, AT ANY TIME.
Marriage laws have been what they are long before I had an opinion about this.
The religious factor about marriage has been established eyons before this day.

I am shunning nobody. Hell, I'll even go to their weddings and buy them a damn blender.

If you equate these beliefs with HATE, then you're a moron. I get real sick and tired of asshats trying to put that emotion where it isn't warrented. It's like saying if you don't agree with abortion, you just want women to die with coathangers up their twat, or if you don't like Obama or affirmitive action, you're a racist.
Painting these generalizations polarizes productive discussion and makes you look just as stupid as you're trying to paint me out to be. Give it up because it's dead wrong.

And really, captian obvious, I do believe I mentioned earlier that I understood that others disagree. And religious freedoms are at stake here, in my opinion. I don't give a flat fuck if you don't think so any more than you do about WHAT I believe.

And finally, at the end of the day....or month, or year.....I fully expect the laws to change and guess what? I will lose no sleep over it, and I'm willing to bet my life will go on as usual the day after it becomes legal.
I'll probably get to buy that blender when our gay neighbors next door to us invite us to their wedding....or civil union ceremony.
