Mayo serves the Elite? My out of work neighbor went to mayo, he makes 9K a year. Elite indeed. I know several people who have gone to Johns Hopkins, I must run in some elite circles.

Dead people cost way less to take care of than the living.
Anecdotal evidence AND a declaration that you'd rather "let 'em die" because it's cheaper? Tell me, is it cheaper overall? If 85% of Americans have health insurance and they pay an average of over $6000 for healthcare each, is there any savings at all when you let the rest die? Universal systems cost per person is half ours, is $6000 x (.85 x 300mil) < $3000 x 300mil? Nope. Sure, that's a crude calculation but it is pretty clear that by that measure it's def. not cheaper to simply let the poor and disabled die because they can't afford care. In fact, by that (again, crude) calculation your only proving my point further... Care will be cheaper for all, if all have access to care.

Do you believe we should have any form of universal healthcare? If not, great - you have a (minority) opinion. If you do, what other ways are there to provide affordable, universal care? Other countries have shown us the way, why should we be so hesitant to help our less fortunate?

It won't hurt for too long as long as them horses pull both arms and both legs off at the same time, leaving your torso to bleed out in a few minutes. It doesn't matter what the Constitution or the laws say about murder, we have a Majority which trumps your rights to life. We will stop by to get you in a little while, don't go no where.

except that the HC law is constitutional (wont know for sure till the SCOTUS says so to be fair... but most experts agree). Just because you interpret the constitution as meaning one thing, does not mean that your interpretation is correct. The only interpretation that matters is the SCOTUS. Until the individual mandate is struck down by the high court, it is constitutional and therefore the minority must let it be so.

that is how the founding fathers intended it - as you libertarians like to say.

You see, if I choose to NOT purchase insurance, I am not engaged in any commerce whatsoever, therefore there is nothing to which to even apply a misapplication of the meaning intended by the Commerce Clause.

The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

I've heard this exact argument 100 times. Nonetheless, the SCOTUS decides. It's pointless for us to argue it's constitutionality... Assume for one minute that the HC reform law is deemed constitutional by the SCOTUS. Will that change your mind? Probably not. You see, I'm really just tired of the constant arguing over what is constitutional and what is not by the right and the left - both sides have cried about laws they oppose for the entire existence of our nation(which is good because then the SCOTUS decides!). But there is only one collective opinion that matters... The founding fathers made it that way for many reasons (one reason is to obviously protect from the politicization of issues...). I trust the founding fathers and their reasoning dont you? If so, you should trust the SCOTUS and their rulings. Just as I intend on doing - even if the individual mandate is struck down(which I dont think will happen).

I'm not a constitutional scholar, so I really am not going to get into the specific issue of constitutionality any further.

i've had family die b/c of aids contracted from sharing needles and have more than one friend hooked on the drug and given MY experience I can 100% assure Dr. Paul that HEROIN should not be legalized. PERIOD.

I had a friend die of liver complications from alcohol abuse. Should alcohol be illegal?

I don't understand your logic. Your family bought and shot heroin with shared needles even though it was illegal. That sounds like a series of poor decisions, all which were made while heroin was illegal.

My sister and her bf were heroin addicts. He is in jail and she's currently on probation and supposedly clean.

Being illegal didn't stop any of them. I know very few people that want to try heroin that don't. If you want to try it, it is available on the black market, and you will try it regardless of whether it's legal or not. I know very few people that don't want to ever try heroin that would be tempted if it were legal. I just don't think the legality of it will have an effect on use. You either use it or you don't, the law be damned. The type of person that's gonna shoot heroin is not going to not do it because of a law.

Yea dude, i hate this plan, my grandparents got kick off of medicare or medicaid, which everone it is, but its fucking bullshit!!!!! they have been paying taxes for the past 55 years and always on time and then they are so stupid to believe odumbass'es lies and vote for him and then now they are suffering for their igonorant assumptions that he would really help them!!!! But, still to cut off millions of seniors from benefits, they are the ones' who build this economy that these assholes are destroying!!!!! And then they give them this type of treatment!!! I call bullshit!!!

and just want to make sure you know, its not only mandatory in the sense that we have to buy healthcare, to put it sort of over dramatically: its mandatory injections and big pharma pills....A lot of entities are going to get very rich off this obamacare crap, we gave Nebraska millions of dollars and that's in plain view lol

I would not have to pay anything and you all would pay for me, I don't plan on ever getting a job if the healthcare is free. My child support is really low when you don't have a job too, so I plan on not really ever getting a job. Not to say I don't plan on making money, I just don't plan on sharing any of it with anyone else.

LOL, more power to ya, I'm in the same boat. It would be good for me, too, but I'm still against it.

went to the health clinic today for my cat-bitten hand that has swollen considerably.

got looked at by a PA (physician's assistant), got a tetanus shot, and was prescribed antibiotics which i opted to pick up.

the visit alone cost $180+, but since i have no reportable income and don't collect unemployment, i paid $15 (the cost of the tetanus shot).

not sure how much the antibiotics actually cost, but i paid a whopping $8.71.

got seen within 24 hours of calling them.

much quicker care then when i was working and had insurance. and cheaper too.

this was my first trip to primary care since i was 15 or so and dinged up my elbow (discounting the three visits i went solely to document my chronic muscle spasm so i could qualify for mmj).

MessiahCare does not kick in until 2014. Which means the good people of the state of Oregon picked up the tab for the rest of your bill.

I'm cool with that. States can do whatever they wish when it comes to health care.

So no MessiahCare until 2014. Yet you were taken care of.

Now explain the just under 1,400 exemptions again?
