I think I found the law that makes Cannabis Cups possible if the RMLW act makes it into law.

It was • SB 607: Protects “mom and pop” winemaking competitions by eliminating antiquated law so that county fairs around the state can continue to have home winemaker competitions. circa 2008

I wonder if this "Wine Competition" Will translate to cannabis competitions?

We will be inheriting a lot of laws and regulations that have a history if RMLW can pass.

im pretty sure the constitution doesnt mention marijuana, so the states have the right to control it however they want. the feds dont really have a say in the matter

I agree 100%, BUT the feds dont. They are raiding legal caregivers and dispensaries in multiple states.

I know that in my state it is coming from the US attorney not the DEA, and thats enough. Why arent the Republicans having a problem with any of this, it seems to be right up their alley: Activist judges and prosecutors ignoring states rights.

Marijuana isn't a medicine. Didn't you hear? It's just for losers who have no job and no prospects in life. We are better off keeping it out of the hands of Americans. We want a productive society and if marijuana were legal, nothing would get done!

Why do you think? Because the right only has problems with activist judges and states rights when the activist judges are liberal and the states want to do something they don't think is "appropriate".

12 pounds is a lot of bud for personal consumption.

On the wine from bud issue.

I had 4 quarts of 2+ year cured and I opened them last moth for a sniff check and all was good. What I didn't expect is that airing would allow the bud to absorb humidity and it did.
The bud itself was supple and flexible that always smokes best when I take time to let it dry out a bit when I pull it out of the jar to use.
Any how, 4 jars then fermented and when I went to choose a new jar I experienced air pressure when I opened it and three others.
Not mould but the unmistakeable smell of fermentation.

At this point I believe bud can be cured and fermented into spirits.

12 pounds when made into wine may not be so much. The same would be true for making hash.

Ernst, I live a ways up 99 from you.

I happen to have met all 3 authors. McPike and Gray attended an activist's retreat some years ago, along with my wife, myself and about 50 others. It was a blast. There was a TON of good discussion.

I've met Steve Kubby, as well. We have several mutual friends.

The 25 plant/12 pound limit has to be Kubby's idea. When I met him, he was consuming roughly 15 pounds, annually, without help. Up to that time, my wife was the heaviest consumer I knew, at roughly 10 pounds, annually.

Jim Gray is a great choice to author this bill. He understands even the subtle issues, like the impact of restrictions like square footage and proximity to schools.

Regulating pot like wine is an old idea, but its inclusion in the proposition is a first(unless I missed something). Especially the generous limits.

The protection of MMJ statutes earns my support.

Any idea when the petitions will be available? I want to volunteer.

From watching the last try there is a period of time the state reviews the Initiative and then they have a green light and a deadline for signatures.
I sent a suggestion of selling packs of bumper stickers and I volunteered in an email to the [email protected] I don't know if that is a proper channel.

My main hope is that we will establish seed saving and heirloom variety growers so we start saving these genetics rather than riding the wave of profits and popularity.

I have serious concerns that California will not vote for Commerce at all but the professional looking ads and the Tax issues may well do it. I just don't know.

In Stanislaus I have had letters to the editor published that support a Horticulture only aspect and this last one asked the "No" people to organize an effort. They won't but at least they will think about it.

You and I and a majority here understand cannabis in and out but we still have a majority that know only folklore.

That bill doesn't sound perfect. They don't tax tomatoes, celtic lettuce, mushrooms and such. Shouldn't even be a issue. Simply remove the law.

However, Take the biggest tree and remove one splinter at a time,, and the mightiest of oaks will come tumblin' down.
Think the bill is a step in the right direction. I'd vote take every bill / issue one inch at a time if need be.

My take on a simple first step is to focus on one thing at a time.

Now, the question is, can we market this new effort. I'd think everyone no mater where you are in the world should support this California effort with cash donations.
In turn we all should support all efforts everywhere as they appear.

We shall see.

A bill that proposes steep taxes on land intended for cultivation is a bad bill and voting for such a bill will put us further behind. There are indeed bills that should not be laws even if they seem to help further the process.
