you old fart.....LOL as soon as i put down my elk and bear with my compound i will go fred bear style
Haha, i like simplicity. Same with guns, sure a modern supressed weight ballanced precision tested and built dot scoped hollow pointed you name it rifle will shoot the pants of something from ww2, but god damn i like simple wooden bolt action rifles :) It's certainly not to say that that bow is naff etc, just not my style. I always end up at the same conclusion. I was born in the wrong period of history.

I like the idea of bow hunting, but a wooden bow, not some silly fanged modern contraption with pulleys and wheels. The instant hunting stops being about food though and i'd happily see a bullet go through the hunters head, what's the difference. That's right human life means everything and animals life means nothing. We're also animals..

Bow's are cool though :)
i have tried a recurve but i cant shot them well enough to take one out in the woods and try to kill something i wouldn't want to just wound one and lose it.

i bought a decent one at the cabella's up in michigan and thought i would hunt with it but by the end of summer i gave up on it i know guy's that do use them though and have some success with them it's just not meant to be for me.

Haha, alas no, i'm just a whippernsapper, i was just bought up in a rather old fashioned hill and fields manner. I like the idea of skills, not money :D

Tis certainly personal preference when it comes to weapons, and as you say, wounding and losing is not what you want to be doing. I've not used a bow in over a decade, but i used to use very simple and cheap recurves made from some plastic compound or other, and while at long range it could be a whore, i could hit a bulls eye near every time at 40-50m

Hey guys how about shooting your deer in the lungs or the heart instead of taking head shots...Not trying to start anything but head shots and ass shots should never be taken...

I dont know how to do it.But a friend of mine does what he calls cold packed i think it's basically deer meat in mason jars it's great stuff.Good for stews or just sitting around deer camp eating right outta of the jar.

Nothing wrong with a head or neck shot i wouldn't take one unless i had to actually shot that drop tine buck in the pic through the neck and you can still where the broadhead went in

kinda messed up my mount.Ass shot's are a NO NO though.I know some people dont care for the horns just hunt for meat but i can kill a deer a day if i wanted to i try and pick out a nice buck with trial camera's and hunt a particular deer makes it alot more fun and challenging for me.Sometimes a buck comes by that i can't pass on though.Basically if it's in the 140's class im probally goin to shoot.my biggest so far is a 182 inch whitetail i will get a pic of it today it's at my dad's.

Just don't agree with head ,neck,or ass shots with a bow....I've been getting trail cam pictures the last couple years of what i think will easily be around a 180 inch monster. My brother saw him at about 40 yards last year but no clear shot...I've yet to see him while hunting...My biggest with a bow scored 138.Seen lots of bigger bucks on stand.

My dad own's 58 acres and i have all kind's of private property to hunt but honestly i live in south eastern ohio lot's big bucks
If i would have all the deer i have missed since i was 12 i would have multiple 200 inch deer on the wall.

i also enjoy shed hunting i have found some nice ones already this year this gives you a good idea of what made it through the season.

i will get em out later and post some pics of them.

i broke down and bought a reconnxy camera two years ago i already had two cuddebacks but the reconnxy is awesome blows the cuddeback's away on quality and sensitivity mines all infra red i hate the flashes gives nice colored pics but usaully just one cause the flash has a mature buck running
