i have a 600w hps. i cant use it because i dont have anywhere to exhaust the heat. the reason i dont have anywhere to exhaust the heat is because i live in an apartment with neighbors upstairs and across from me. any other way i can use this light?? i have an area of 6x6 sectioned off with panda film in my bedroom opposite of the window so no light beacons are seen from anyone passing by. thoughts? also summertime is coming around the corner so the heat will def be an issue.
Your only option is water cooling if you cannot exhaust the heat. This is a serious cost.

I'd find a way to run my ducting down a hallway or something.

Your tap water is ridiculous. My tap water is at about 50ppm.

She's hungry for sure. I'd watch that water though, might be a lot of crap in the tap. Begin using your nutrients. A 0.8ec would be great.

No. Boiling water kills pathogens but only worsens the salt issue.

Think of it this way, if you fill a cup with a little water and let it go dry it leaves a salty residue on the glass. When you boil the water all you are doing is evaporating away the H2O molecules and leaving behind all the sodium and calcium and bicarbonates and whatever else is in there. It actually raises the EC of the water.

A simple filter, like a Brita faucet filter (about $15 down at the drug store) would probably cut the ppm's in half and remove the vast majority of sediment.

Let me put it this way... I wouldn't drink your water unless I had to.

Also, you never want to use Distilled water in growing. The water is literally too "pure" and it forces your plant to leech elements into the solution (out of the plant) in order to maintain equilibrium. There's basically no dissolved oxygen, no anything, and this makes the water a poor choice.

If you use purchased water then spend your money on Reverse Osmosis filtered water. This is the good stuff.

Yes, you can stack your cubes. You cannot stack them too tall though. I think just a double stack would be fine. The more space you give the roots to grow the larger the plant will get. In hydroponics it's a little different... but for the most part. So if space is an issue already then I'm not sure if you really want to be cramming a lot of plants in there. Might be better to work on your training techniques.

"The Fourth week of flowering" is a tricky way of telling me how far into flowering you are.

Some people count from the start of 12/12. So, technically, week 1 is Day 0. Week 2 starts on day 7. And week 4 starts on day 21.
Other people may not count the first transition week, instead saying day 7 is week 1, and week for is day 28.

Which gives me a window of oh... 14 days... to try and figure out how old you plant is. Could be 21 days from the 12/12 switch. Could be 34 days...

When you are talking the talk, and walking the walk, try to talk about the number of days from 12/12 rather than the "week" you are in. This is a kind of lingo that sticks around in with new growers but is extremely inaccurate when diagnosing something.

But for the record... Your plants look maybe 18 to 20 days into flowering, with weak lighting, definitely not 28 days worth. I'd guess you're not more than 25 days since the 12/12 switch but you are behind a little bit. Probably just a result of not enough light judging by the lanky look of the plant without extremely Sativa dominant leaves.

They're doing okay for 24 days. A little more light isn't going to hurt, for sure, but either way I don't think the situation is dire. They should keep on this pace for a while and get bigger.

how much do you think i will get off just one plant using cfls? Ive read 1/4, or a 1/2 is this true or does it vary with different strains

That depends on such a wide variety of factors that it is completely impossible to gauge. In my personal experience I think 14 to 20 grams per plant on a CFL grow is fine. I did 5 plants with about 200w worth of bulbs and pulled about 3 ounces without much effort.
