Theory Testing of Styles

Well it's up and running! (Whew!)

Doing a test run for temps. Running at 77-80F. That bottom fan is not delivering as hoped. Going to need to upgrade that this weekend. Shelves / lights will need adjusting as I get into the real grow. I just stuck the clones in there to see how it looks and make sure it all fits.;-) The whole system is based on the technique I've been showing. So small (short) is the way I hope to be able to work this.
Definately intend on working the SSH & JH. Not too certain about the LB and the BW is out (didn't bother to clone).
Anyways, It's a start.

Thanks Chief.
Got the home fabed lighting about done today. All total,, maybe $30 for the pair.

Each shade is from HD 12 X 24 stock. I had 1 3/4" scrap and a few rather small clippings. Bulbs, sockets, hood, wire about $25 total. Add a few screws, patern paper, maybe $25.
As long as they're open, and grown to this style,, a minimalistic approach is do-able. Not for everyone,, maybe not the best way,, but works well for me and others I've set up.
A large part of this style is minimalistic (or making do with what you have).
The goal(?) will be a quarter pound every 3 weeks average over a year's time.
Hi, what are the shades called at HD? Rather, what aisle would I find those? I just used the aluminum ducting, but that looks perfect. Thanks.

The things you've done to the those girls! LOL! I can't wait to see how they bud. I like the diy work you do.

Barbi, I wish I could carry you around in my pocket all day so whenever I was feeling down, or whatever, you could be there to say I'm brilliant and smart. Such a positive person.

Was with the other sheet metal.
Think it is hammered aluminum or such.
Were just 12 X 24 inch sheets. Need to make your own template and such. I just cut a pattern, folded on picknic table, and pop riveted the sides on for regidity.

Thanks for the info on the sheet metal! I enjoy reading your posts and your inquisitive nature!
Thank you very much for the interest. I know I'm going heavily against accepted practice here.
Sometimes I feel like I'm just muttering to myself on this journal and your questions / input makes it worthwhile.
If you have any questions on whats going on,, why I do what I do,, or whatever, Feel free to ask.
There's a long story as to why I'm doing this,, this way. Not everyone can handle big plants,, high cost,, and many other things. This was designed for clients with MMJ cards that may be amputees,, handicapped,, or disabled. It's as much about people with conditions that limit their mobility as much as the people that feel they are useless and unable to do for themselves and just sit in their wheelchairs feeling lost & totally bored.
Just giving them something to do and look forward to has sooooo many mental attributes,, I've started a small (practicly non-profit) buisness of sorts.
Kind of a twist on the provider roll I guess. I'm in it to allow these folks to be self suficient at growing their medicine. If you can see the change this makes in people's attitude,, ambition,, motivation.... Well, It's increadable and their smiles are the rewards. Can't tell you how much a firm handshake,, thank you,, big grins / smiles,, hugs and kisses from patients, family, friends is good for my soul.

Can't help it! (think I'm addicted to growing?)

Finally, 4 of the clones found a new home Saturday. That gives me space.

Started doing my Monday maintenance thing and got another brain fart.
After feeding and doing the clones,, I ended up picking on the BW first.
While coming along nicely (sticky like glue) my brain did a, what if?
So here we are. Couple suckers were messin' with the game plan and needed removal.
Hmmm,, About 1/2 into finish flower..... would they clone???
Well, always up to a challenge,, why not?
Thinking, if they "take" , they'd be late. Maybe perfectly late at that. If they take 3-4 weeks to revert back to flower, they'd be about on time to be induced into the tail end of the perpetual rotation (maybe?).
Anyways, nothing ventured / nothing gained. Did 2 same as usual, nothing special. Besides, it'll be a good test to see how the cab may clone & veg at the same time.
If both fail,,, I've learned something.
If one fails,, well, that's simply a "Hmmmm?".
If both make it,, well that's just dandy.
No matter what,, it's a win / win thing.

2 nodes under,, chopped (but not removed) established buds. Think it'll be interesting? (I do) :?
fc1.jpg (and there's more. Hang-on)

Okay,, not everyone picked-up. Not wanting to waste a opertunity, these willbe the first of the perpetual. April 20th they'll go 12/12.
t1.jpg
Here it is Monday mid day. If you don't believe me when I say, "Saturday night I stripped them bare except the very top", I'll understand. but it's the trueth, they were defoliated clean.
Having only 10 days to get them to resemble something,,, we proceeded with "What the hell,, Why Not". ;-)
Here's where they're at -
t2a.jpg t2b.jpg t3.jpg
Whatever happens,, happens. Not sure how much I can get done in 10 days. But the tie willbe tightened as they adjust. Topping intended as soon as the top points up. And of course the defoliation / staking will begin (time permitting). Since they were to "be gone",, nothing lost with failure.

Even with all the defoliation,, it's getting thick. Added a CFL low for fill on the buds. Put them all together for the afternoon tanning.
Sort of a social gathering / group hug thingie.;-)

All said and done. Perpetual has begun.

Been a hell of a Monday morn. Time to burn-one and see what I wished I'd done different. :?:bigjoint:

Man Canon you have been busy!!!! I think you are one upstanding guy, what you are doing for people who are unable to do for themselves is honorable. Giving people something to live for that doesn't require a lot of work for the handicap is really cool man. I love my new hobby:) I can't wait to see the girls start budding.

Thanks Chief,
Don't know about any "upstanding" thing.
Always like to tinker / putter about. This way I just get to do it with other people's money, not mine.;-)

That going perpetual idea was interesting. Pretty much only 1/2 step ahead of the babies most of the way. They pushed me.
HOPE it works (after all that). Figure it's probably going to take a year or so for all to stabilize.

Update Day 88 from dry bean / 13 from last pic. update / 30 from 12/12 switch

Since last update I've defoliated 3 or 4 times, full nutes as mentioned in the beginning. They've not been pampered lately because I've had changes to make and they were forced off to the side a few times for working room. Lighting and such has been anything but consistant during this time. Often crowded with babies and such.Only consistancy was no more than 12/12.
I'll attempt to be a bit more inclusive / detailed this time because I feel this is a turning point of sorts.
I'll be adding as I go. I've hit the wrong button more than once in this and hate it when I need to go back and re-do everything. (sucks being a idiot at times :wall:)

Progession (pictures);
13 days ago finish --> day's start --> done today --> day's finish
The yardstick in the background is set to the top of the 10 inch tall pot for ref.

LB - Laughing Buddha, pure sativa, 1/3 the way into flower

88a.jpg 88b.jpg 88c.jpg 88d.jpg 88e.jpg 88f.jpg 88g.jpg

Probably can tell, been keeping up on the pruning. Today we untied some of the lower parts to let it rise to the higher shoots. Like keeping them even. Was getting full of suckers and removed some that I felt wouldn't contribute much. A shot of the roots is included. I know, clear pots are taboo (like everything else I do). But I like seeing and can't see any real harm.

SSH - Super Silver Haze, about 2/3 sativa - 1/3 indica, almost 1/2 into flower

88h.jpg 88i.jpg 88j.jpg 88k.jpg 88l.jpg 88m.jpg 88n.jpg 88o.jpg

Down right shamefull the way I let this get out of hand. Like Chief said, "been buisy". Needing to back-up a bit and regroup,, light trim and untie to get them to even out and hopefully untangle a bit before I decide what is a sucker, and what is a keeper. I'll be playing with these heavy for the next couple days to get them where I'm comfortable. Definately strong sativa traits showing on her.:clap::clap::weed:

JH - Jack(ie) Herre, About 2/3 indica - 1/3 sativa, almost 1/2 into flower.

88p.jpg 88q.jpg 88r.jpg 88s.jpg 88t.jpg 88u.jpg 88v.jpg 88w.jpg 88x.jpg

Don't know,, what do you think? At this stage I throw nothing away. Cuttings will dry and be saved for BHO. (for ice hash I'd freeze them as they are). A lot more that could be done to clean out the center, but,,, later. Sticky as shit and I think there's a frost coming.;-)

BW - Blue Widow, all indica, little past 1/2 flower

88ba.jpg 88bb.jpg 88bc.jpg 88bd.jpg 88bf.jpg 88bg.jpg 88bh.jpg

.... and a little sumptin fer Frenchy (we like pics!) -

Should finish in 3-4 weeks(?) Think it may fill-in nicely. Think you know why I am trying to clone this from 1/2 flower. May even try a re-veg. if I can come up with the room. Looking sparce, but smells awsome!!!

That is all.

Garlic is a great plant. Loves the same stuff as MJ, but the tops are way tempermental to variations / sudden changes. Not having leaves, it's my indicator as to how things are.
Also, it wards off pest (except the dumb Labs!). Helps keep it bug free.
.... and sometimes I like a little something to munch on when gardening.;-)

I'm bad at judging weight this early on. :?
