I'm 5 days in germinating Northern Lights and the taproots are exposed but it's not very long, (I've heard it's desirable to have the taproot to be about 2cm in length.) My question is, once the taproot are exposed is it okay to "plant" them in my DWC or should I wait until it sprouts? All the threads that I searched through, everyone at this stage just planted it in soil from what I've found.

The last Taproot'd seeds that I planted in my DWC, nothing happened and the seeds eventually died and taproot turned into mush. Additional information: from day1 on my first attempted plantation, I used reversed osmosis water, and added nutes to about 150ppm concentration @5.5-5.8ish PH. could I have possibly fried the poor thing? I'm using Jack's Classic Orchid Special 30-10-10.

I've soaked them in a shot glass of filtered water for 24-hours. I then placed the seeds in 1" rockwool (soaked in 5.5ph water for 24-hours prior) that is then placed in a germination dome with a heat pad underneath.

They're Northern Lights from Nirvana, I've heard some people had mixed results with these seeds

I don't believe in germinating before planting, so you lost me there. I'm also no expert on DWC or rockwool. You'd be best served directing this question right at the dwc/rockwool crowd in the hydroponic forum.

I have used them, not for a while, but basically I'd plant them, keep the cubes from getting dried out and let them grow to the point of throwing roots out of the cube. Then I'd transplant to a netpot with hydroton and let the water level reach pretty much into the bottom row of stones. The bubble action and wicking action would take care of the rest. The roots grow pretty fast in the proper conditions.

Just keep practicing and you'll get the hang of it.

when germinating 5 femanized seeds... what would you recommend i do to ensure i can pick a good female mother?

either germinate and grow till im able to clone each plant once.. root the clones and send into flower to determine sex making sure thy're not hermie? (marking each clone and mother so i know which is which)

..or after germinating the seeds.. and when ive got sufficient root growth, send into flower to determine sex (not hermie)..
then choose the strongest female and regress back to veg to be my mother?

ive heard mixed reviews on regressing back to veg.. but ive never asked myself. i'd appreciate some expert advice on this topic or even any other possible methods. thanks!!

You gotta smoke 'em to know which is best.

I think that revegging is time consuming.

Better to establish a couple mothers, and start working with clones. Smoke the smoke and keep your favorite mom's as keepers.

Assume they are female, yes.

Around 5-6 weeks into veg you should start seeing preflowers to confirm either way. You can choose to just veg them for a while.

i have limited space.. 2x3x8.. so i'm going for the aeroponic SOG method. ideally i dont want to veg for that long.
would it be ok to put them all into flower.. then choose a mother once sex has shown and regress the one i choose back to veg?
i've read mixed reviews on it ...that would be my fastest way to get things moving, but if it's a possible issue i'd rather not go that route and just take the extra time to make sure i have a healthy mother.
any thoughts?

Like I said before, they will show you their sex with pre-flowers around the 5th week of life anyway. You may as well wait for pre-flowers.

You are going to get more than one girl with 5 fem'd seeds. Even with regs your odds of getting 2 females is better than 2:3. You'll have at least 4 of them in there.

If you're just looking for "A" girl and not "The" girl then you'll be fine either way.
Also, if you're so limited on space where are you going to be keeping your mother plant?

Hello all I'm looking to add co2 to my grow room but I'm running a little low on watts/amps. I'm running 1800 watts of light along with a/c ventilation and all the extras on 3 20amp breakers and i really dont wanna max out. so far I'm doing good but on all my searches I keep seeing 120v for the regulators which I believe is equal to 2400 watts and I just find that hard to believe so can any of you master room builders or electricians out there please help me out with this?​

Nah, a CO2 system should be cool.

Watts = Volts x Amps.
What you need to know are the amps of the device, not just the voltage.

Your 110v/120v, 20 amp, circuits are capable of pushing about 2200w to 2400w on each circuit. This gives you somewhere around 7,000 watts to play with in that room. Since you're running about 1800w, plus an AC, plus a few odds and ends... I bet you're not using 1/2 the wattage and amperage available.

So don't worry about the CO2 system drawing too much power. The controllers aren't more than a hundred watts I'm sure.

I just got my mmj card about a month ago. Pretty excited !! Thought I'd never live to see the day.
I'm looking toward building a decent sized room, totally utilizing my legal limit, (why less right?) I am budgeting
about 3k (USD) for a room. I am new to indoor growing, and am doing practically nonstop research, no need to
mess this up. I have done plenty of outdoor grows, each one more successful than the last, but indoor is different.
I researched everywhere online, and read everything I could, (and I still am not done, probably never will be). I so far
am looking at either 3 X 600 watt HPS or 2 X 1000 watt HPS for flowering, and either LED or T5 for veg and mothers.
A cloning station, DIY hydro systems (why pay lots of $$ when they can be made for much less?) Flowering tent,
another tent for veg, mothers, and clones. Nutes, and odor control, ventilation and a few spare bulbs. I am estimating
based on my calculations, $2500 (+/-). Does this seem right?

If you any of you experienced growers had 3k to spend, what would you get? I'm not looking to go over 2k watts for
flowering, at least not yet. For now 2k is enough.

I had a weird growth on one of my flowering plants. I found a tiny (1-2 mm) thing, looking very much like a tiny seed at the base of one of my fan leaves, basically where the 5 leaves meet and nowhere near a stem node.

I removed the thing and carefully inspected my plant but found no other such growths. Any idea what this is? I'd have pics of the darn thing but unfortunately my camera's card seems to be corrupted.

hey. Got another question

its been a couple days and my leaves are still turning kind of yellow.
ive attached some pics - sry if they arent too good but as you can see the top tips are discolored. also another thing i noticed are some of my stems look kind of redish (middle pic). i think thats bad?
right now she isnt up to full nutes. still half strength, week 3, in roots organic. only thing i noticed is the humidity rose from 58% to around 60-61/62%... Temp is still staying the same. Watering kind of every other day... more so when the soil is dry, i water.

OK so my babies got pollinated although i dunno how the fuck that happened...i dunno whether they got pollinated by the three males i removed earlier (2 days into the 12/12 cycle and they had not yet created any male flowers) or they are hermies....how can i tell???

Why does it look so dark?

my camera has made the pics look abit darker, but i have noticed that my new leaves have been growing at a darker colour than the others, have you got any ideas isit a bad thing?

i have a 600w hps. i cant use it because i dont have anywhere to exhaust the heat. the reason i dont have anywhere to exhaust the heat is because i live in an apartment with neighbors upstairs and across from me. any other way i can use this light?? i have an area of 6x6 sectioned off with panda film in my bedroom opposite of the window so no light beacons are seen from anyone passing by. thoughts? also summertime is coming around the corner so the heat will def be an issue.
