It is time we realize that our Government is moving towards legal torture on our own soil.

We have laws against this but I believe the Patriot Act repealed them to a greater degree.

Do you think it is fair to torture and otherwise punish those held for trial before they are convicted of any crime?

IMO the government could give a shit less if torture is "Legal" or not, when has a legality ever stopped them? Hell they don't even have to arrest you or charge you anymore to send you to prison for life. No judges, no lawyers, no trial, just life imprisonment for the accused.

A lot of folks think punishments are just fine for some things until they are arrested and experience our justice system.

Even if Mr. Manning is guilty I still want our country to set an example of our human rights.
They have him in solitary and they take his clothes.
He has not been found guilty nor has he been shown to be violent.

The prisoner made the choice when he quipped to the guards that he might intentionally strangle himself with his underwear.

He is subject to due process under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Treason is not some parlor trick. The illegal release of those cables touched off the rioting in Tunisia, which has subsequently spread throughout that part of the world.

Now I am not going to comment on the revolts either way except to say people have died. And now WE have another war, I mean KINETIC military action , on our hands.

If he is convicted, I hope they apply the full measure of the law to him short of the death penalty; which I oppose.

But I do hope they lock him up with the Unabomber. Imagine being subjected to the mad ravings of that crazy fuck and not be able to leave.

So far I understand our own Military Spokesmen have said the information leaked wasn't all that sensitive; but, we should be sensitive over basic human rights.
We area Nation of "Forced Rendition" of US citizens to foreign countries where torture is allowed.
We are a nation where a Citizen can get on a plane and leave only to find they are on a no fly list and cannot come back with no legal recourse but to swim back.

So what did Manning do? Did he do good for us or evil?

Is it better we the people are kept like live stock or treated to information on where our tax dollars go and for what.
We have never declared war in the Middle East so I challenge Manning's charges of Treason.
