i dought the people see much of the money thay get given anyway.
if you want to give money to a charity or people in need, you need to go there yourself and help.
giving money to charities isnt worth it. they take most of the money for their self.

if i could, id be there.
at the end of the day, it all boils down to money

Charities take money for themselves? That sure is a wet blanket statement if i ever saw one. there are many legitimate charities.

Yeah I know right?? It's not like I can just fly over to freaking Japan on a whim... I have work and school and unless they pay for my airfare to go over there, then maybe...

Liberals HATE America? What kind of righteous conservative bull shit is this? I also find your comment about welfare paying for big screen TV's and xboxes and the like pretty silly. Drug money and crime may pay for those big ticket items, but I can assure you, welfare does not. You also toss around % figurs like an old professional statistician with demographics to back up your numbers.... That seems pretty arrogant to me bear...
I'm sorry to disagree with you Serapis, but welfare supports more druggies and lazy ass fucks than anything else on the planet. There are people that truly do need it, but how many of those people ever end up getting off welfare once they're on it? Have a kid, get free food and a huge ass tax return. Then people think "Oh snap, i can get MORE free food and a bigger tax return if i have another kid and stay at my job at mcdonalds and live in my low income housing!" Welfare even goes as far as paying your utilities in some cases. So yes, I'm going to have to agree with doc on this and say welfare does in fact provide Big Screen TV's and Xbox's to the "poor". Personally i think ever case needs to be re-evaluated every month and if people haven't done anything to improve their situation, they get docked a certain amount. Also i think people need to also be drug tested on a regular basis to receive benefits. Also Child Support needs to be abolished or at least revamped a tad. How is it logical to make the payments larger than what the paying parent makes? Fucked up system man.

and also i said, it all boils down to money.

and i'm sure that number will go up..otherwise you know Japan is going to bitch and complain if they know how much money was given to Haiti. Not to sound like a cold hearted little bitch but I think there should be some negotiations and lines drawn on how much aid and money is going to continue to be put into this mess. People like me need to get back to work first and foremost.
All interesting topics aside, I feel the more important issue is not simply sending financial assistance, it is sending veteran scientists to japan's reactors to avoid radiation leaking, or a meltdown. Look at all of the people displaced, there is only so much the japanese government can do to corral them, feed them, and shelter them. Not everyone will be picked up in time, or so it seems.
But then there are several countries with troops close by, that could assist in the humanitarian aid. Why is this not happening? Why are the Japanese working alone on fixing the reactors? In the span of four days, many men could already be on the job.

He said america is full of em, not everyone in america is one! I agree with him too. More likely than not, most people today are instant gratification seekers and don't have a clue what it means to work for something or take pride in what they do.

Guys I know everyone on here is frustrated and angry one way or another.. We gotta form together as human beings and just get things done ourselves, we don't need to wait on our government to act out and help, if you want, donate what you can to Red Cross...

Bullshit on the red cross last $500 for 9/11 went to their $10,000,000 satilite. I would give money to Japans government

what i am reading here comes down to one thing allies how fast usa is goin to help japan is more important then one would think
look at catrina poorest part of usa crime rates murders etc in other words collateral damage
now to the topic japan
lets face it USA has sold most of there machinery and patents and cannot even compete in the world trade in reality hell even the mighty F-16 is made over seas
After WW2, the 27 American TV companies including Zenith, Emerson, RCA, GE, etc. led the world in TV technology. Then, the owners of the patents on TV technology decided they didn't need to dirty their hands by actually making the TV sets themselves any more, and they started selling licenses to manufacture, which the Japanese bought.
By 1987, the only remaining American TV company is Zenith. The patent holders get their money, but the American products which can be sold overseas are gone, along with the jobs to make them. so how bad is this crisis in japan real bad not only does it effect usa in epic perportion just go look at how much usa made products you have in your household then do the math china and japan supply usa with everything not to many people know that 2/3rds of usa property is held in trust to china that usa will pay back the 40 trillion moneys owed

So in other words ... We need to help Japan so the majority of people on welfare can continue to buy their TV's?

Sorry I got kinda worked up there. I see alot of people stereotyping, throwing a blanket on mass amounts of people. I have traveled alot of places...in Toyko I remember meeting many people that were extremely polite, at times overboard polite. I also meet alot of people that were total asses or a waste of time. In Malaysia and the islands of Southeast Asia, the same thing, there are many good and many bad people. Guess what in the U.S it is the same thing. When people start understanding that it is up to yourself to take care of yourself, then we have progression. Myself, I prepare, I keep backup just incase. But in a case like Japan, Katrina, Haiti, etc.... this is when we as a collective must help. I am proud to be an American in this case, because we do help. Every rude comment, every bash, including my earlier comments, do nothing but hurt. To the OP, you seem to have alot of anger, release that, and then you can move on.

As good a that sounds. I have found that in all my travels, people are nice why? because they want you to buy what they have or want something in return. Not to say that nice people don't exist, but, sad to say, people generally are more focused on what they can gain and it is the rare occasion to find an honest, trustworthy person that genuinely wants to help you. 50 years ago, it was rare to hear of a serial killer or a house getting robbed or getting jacked on the street. People are getting worse and worse statistically speaking. I personally keep to myself anymore and am sketchy on meeting new people and it sucks to be that way because I loved being social. But after being robbed multiple times living in the ghetto, being punched cuz i screwed up a guys order when i worked for mcdonalds (first job), Sued because someone tripped on my porch and an exwife after every cent i try to make for myself etc etc ... I just have given up on people and keep to myself and my small band of friends and family.
