Jock Horror 3 week Perpetual Harvest

Hey mic I have a question for ya. I'm building a new perpetual scrog aero/rdwc set up.

I was curious how long do your roots get in veg and flower usually with your plants ? Do they end up sitting in the water fast or take a while ?

I have plans for making the same veg and flower units using the strong boxs. 8 plants in 6in net pots sprayer manifold inside with 700gph+ pump to both run the sprays and recirculate the water to a remote reservoir. Sick of lifting the lid all the time and I am going to get a nice air pump for good oxygenation. With a scrog there is much other choice not being able to move the plants eventually.
6" pots? wow thats pretty big. I like your single res idea. Ill be re-designing soon myself. if you really want to maximize your grow space you need you pack them in there tight. that means basically no individual access to each res. Post pics when you get them!
As for the roots. One of the real advantages of running Aero in these reservoires is the acces that you have to the root system. Enough is not said about this factor. In this system you can watch them very closely (treat them directly if necessary) and really get their initial sprout and growth rates down.

For my stystem I average 7-10 days to pop roots. Within another 7-10 days the tap root has reached the nutes at the bottom of the reservoire. From there it is an average of 3 weeks Veg time. During this time the root ball forms a healthy curtain about 5 inches wide and grows to rest on the botom of the res.

The photos below are Just for reference. Not from the same plant.

this is truly excellent, great framing work around the grow creates. looks like a forest of perfection keep up the great work.

do you still have 30plants per create?

Thank you for the compliments. 30 per crate is just for the Veg phase
When they are moved into the flower room they go to 6 per crate.:leaf:

Well I clone in 2 in net pots and from there I just take it and put the whole thing in a 6in net pot and fill with hydroton. I only plan on doing 8 plants per bin and scrogging them.

Going to have 3 flower totes and 2 veggin totes so I can veg for 3-6weeks depending still on how fast they fill up the screen.

The two veggin totes will have the same res but the three flowering totes will all have there own res due to running a different nute schedules.

My system will be more rdwc with aero I guess. Ill be using the same res pump to circulate water and 1in ebb and flow fittings two for each tote and res to recirculate the water.

Your system is straight aero with the waste being drained to the res underneath so your plants have the whole tote of open air space. I'm still undecided on whether or not to raise the plants and get them some more room by doing a stinkbud single concept but with 5in pvc fence posts standing up in the lid.

Thanks for the reply and pics +rep to ya for the sick grow and help.

Actually my system is a bit of a hybrid with the roots sitting in the Nutes full time but over half the air space left for O2 absorption. That was the point of this concept I believe, Trying to find the perfect balance between air space and nute levels,

compliments come with success which you've accomplished. I see though I was gonna say 30plants wow but with your method it looks like it works very well.

Ok Mic this one is for u.

I a wondering what type of growing you are doing? Is there a screen, SOG, free flow, LST... I am combing the thread but I live in africa so it is a think comb, and I'm also baked lol... (I've read thread from to back now a few times lol):dunce:

Thanks for the reply,

I dont really know what you would call this system. I think its more of an amalgamation of the best Ideas Ive seen out there plus my own tweaks. Im not using a screen, but im trimming my lower canopy like I do use one. Strange I know. Its not straight Aero or DWC...its not straight anything really. Call it the Frankenstein!

Thanks.

So it's basically free range with u managing how far the girls can wander lol. When you say you trim the under canopy how far do you trim? Just the lower shaded buds? or is it a specific set number?

I like trimming too. As they say survival of the fittest, so send the nutes to the big bad boy buds, and chop the stragglers? Thats my system lol. No one likes wispy shady bud, when you can have tight top buds.

How do you find the spacing when you have 6 in a container? do the 1k's penetrate to the bottom decently?

Since I am new to growing this strain I am acting based on what i learned from the 1st crop. the 6 plants in the res is the maximum it should really have unless youre doing SOG. I'm actually thinking the ideal number is more like 4. In the 1st crop there was very little light penetration through the canopy resulting in a lot of popcorn buds on the bottom. I dont want any of those anymore so for this crop I went in and pruned up to the level where the popcorn buds were last crop. Approx 1/3 of the plant height. I did the trim on the 1st day of the 5th week and there are still 5-6 weeks left for this strain. Now there is a LOT of light penetration and airflow in the lower canopy. This should result in bigger colas and also prevent the original issue I had with Bud Rot.

Hey Micmart! I haven't been on the forum long either. Gotta say I got garden envy, and SPREADSHEET envy, LOL. I am actually in the process of setting up a sheet for my family's (fairly) new garden. We started with hydro, but I don't live in the area and it was too complex to help them long distance since they are first time growers and I have limited experience with friends (not legal where I live) so we switched them to soil We are using 3 LEDs and 2 1000 watt HPS in flower. Our first harvest is due next week some time.
I like the way you did your spreadsheet, and it's helping me visualize how to do mine, so kudos!
Your plants look nice and healthy. Had any trouble with mites/pests?
Also, after reading through this thread, I also learned that Jack Herrer is AKA Jack Horror? One of my favorite strains and this is the first I am hearing that!
Grow on, brother, grow on!

ps: currently medicated and missed dates on this post...

Another solution was to increase the size of the artboard in Illustrator, since i"m sure you know is based on vectors so you won't lose quality as you increase size :)
Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver educated.

Awsome looking grow! I also love those totes and use one for my rez also. Ever thought about a seperate rez especially for your veg tables as they seem to have plenty of room underneath. I come right up through the bottom of the tote with a 3/4 threaded to slip so I can remove the spray bar for easy cleaning inbetween runs and you get a water tight seal when you cut the hole for the thread size and then screw a coupler onto the bottom (You can make your own bulkheads this way if you didn't already know). Then I also come right out of the bottom with my drain also but place a cap I made out of pvc that has a short rise to maintain a 1/2 solution in the bottom of the growing container.
No more fighting lids full of plants when trying to access the rez, it truely was one of the best things I did.

Really nice work 3000! I have some questions regarding this strain if you have a moment. I'm currently growing Jack Flash # 5 femed seeds. Day 18 from seed now. Did you see different phenos with the JH hybrid? JF is reported to have two phenotypes, indica leaning and sativa leaning. A few of my seedlings have red petioles?? Do you think this is an indication of pheno?? All are given the same nutrients (ebb and flow) (House and Garden) and seem to be very healthy so far. Thanks a bunch.
