i have always hear to transplant a week before flowering, so I will probably do a week and a half. what about culling out the males, i dont wanna overgrow in there but i dont know if i can wait 2 months for preflowers. what do you reccomend? how much harm does transplanting a week into flower do, like once they show their parts?
You can veg for 4-6 weeks in which they will show pre flowers at which point you could cull and then transplant, veg another week and then flip. Or you can re-pot, veg a week, and throw them into 12/12. Once they hit 12/12 they should show within in a week or week and a half and then cull the males. I plan on doing this second option - it is a bit more work but you seem to end up with much larger plants.

On my 50 plant double tent grow I transplanted 1/2 of the plants a week before flowering and the other half the day before I flipped - the 1/2 I transplanted the week before were about twice as large in the end. Seemed to make a HUGE difference. After the grow I looked at root development and 1/2 had utilized the entire pot and the other half only the first 1/3-1/2 of the soil.

Thanks for the info thats awesome if I could plus rep again I would, I think Im going to go with the second option as well seeing as how you are advising it. Now the question of the day is do I start feeding today? The new growth coming in is kinda yellow, still green but not dark green, also the 1st node single blade leaves seem to lack thickness and density. Thats something I noticed yesterday. Im going to do some research right now on when to start feeding cuz im in 5050 Ocean Forest and Light warrior, but it doesnt seem nearly as bad as the people say it is for burns, and it drains pretty quick with the light warriow added in.

Ill add some pics in a few hours

I have no Idea but please take a look and lemme know what you think, I only took pics of like 14, 1s a mutant with lettuce looking leaves and I think some of them Might have issues, not sure. Let me know if they look healthy to you or not.

EDIT: also one thing to add are my temp are going to 76 to 78 lihts on to 60-65 sometimes 59.5 with lighs off, should I just leave lights on 24/7 If I have those kinds of fluctuations?

So I just noticed today, some of the new growth, very small part has some brown spots on the tips, I have not fertilized yet though or anything, possible defeciancy? Is the growth I mentioned normal for after transplanting, I was thinking today maybe the reason some of the leaves got a little thin was stress. Im not sure, I have never transplanted to soil before.

Those temps are just fine. I generally shy away from 24/0, the plant benefits from some darkness - it revs up the krebs cycle which is responsible for all secondary metabolism (everything other than photosynthesis). I think they all look great. At this stage you can fertilize at 1/10 strength but might not need to. The most important thing is to not over water or under water - generally people over water their first grow.

lol ve been watering about every 2-3 days as needed certain ones certain days, i just stick my finger down in the soil and if i feel moisture i give it a day or if the top layer is dark i dont eve touch it but when its crusty on top and about a half inch down i fill it up till it drains out the bottom then wait. its my firt time hand watering, is this correct?

As for the temps theyve been about 60-70 lately so were all good, also the light regimen is 18 and 6 I just turn the fan off too.

theres an epic debate about 24/0 and 18/6, which is better...yadayada...do what works for you.

a 78 H to a 60 Low is not a terrible swing, more optimum is a 15F shift. However, youre in the zone. Id try to maintain a 78F temp as consistent as possible with lights on., with a 63Low with lights off. However, dont make yourself crazy chasing temps and constantly dialing things in long as your in the 60-80 zone, youre good...unless of course, you are into micro managing your garden constantly.

quick tip: photosynthesis is at its most optimum rate around 70-78, anything lower photosynthesis starts to slow down.

The only thing I'm scared about is its winter still and if it gets that low during the winter in my closet is it gonna get rly hot in there too? I might just have to cut a hole into the ceiling and vent into the attic and I have a window ac unit on deck. Also the light should be here between this and next thursday

Quick lil update: fed 11 today for the first time. Light nutes according to the bottle and some helpful friends advice. According to the manufacturer you cannot burn your plants with these nutes since there no salts in them? Well I only watered 9 in it and the other 16 were still damp so I figured it was a good time for a trial run. Still waiting on the light cannot wait! Now in pics there my room, and some babies. The 2 trays of 7 bigger ones were fed, all 7 on one and 2 on another :) How long would it take for me to know if they were over fed or not?

Fertilizer with zero salts? I'm going to have to run that by my old soils professor. It is very difficult to burn plants with true organics and I did some reading up on your line-up and them seem pretty legit (more natural than I expected). Plants are looking great! I wish I could keep mine a bit warmer - it's snowing here atm and the temps inside hit the low 40's. The thermometer in my grow cab says 61 max and 57 min which is a not bad fluctuation but low temps all the same. Summer here hits 110 so either season I'm kinda fucked - hope you're not the same. Maybe if I flower in the Spring it will be just right?

worried bout temps? of course you are!

just do a simple vent out system with a high-set Carbon Filter-->Can Fan(sucking through filter at top of box/room)--->air-cooled hood---->out. or you can negate the air cooled hood and just have it venting out. Plug your fan into a thermostat set to 75F with a 5F variance., so you never get over 80F. problem solved. Cold temps? put a space heater in there plugged into a thermostat set either at 60(so temps never drop into a danger zone) or around 70 to keep a more consistent temp.

Where do you get these thermostats and how easy are they to set up?? Any links or anything, as gettkng a thermostat has been something I have wanted to do, I'm just not the best diy person lol. Also how long till I know if I overfertilized, I think I'm good haven't looked at em, its lights off, I just wanna know for personal knowledge.

Thermostat - super easy to setup, just place sensor and plug in.

And dont bother with a space heater in a 4x4. grab a ceramic heating bulb. (dont point directly at plants)

Heats not an issue as I will be getting a 600w hps I plan to use on all stages from here on out, how high do you hang it during seedling and veg phase? Also that thermostat is a must buy and I will be in the next couple weeks once I get an inline fan, right now I'm just plannin on hanging high leaving it ove and of course I'm gettin a ac hood so vent it through the top and hang a desk fan blowing on the bulb from the intake side till I can afford the inline fan and filter combo on ebay.

EDIT: {Continued from above}Which will be soon cuz I got a raise.Hell Yea, and btw the hopeful ladies are gorgeous today responded well to the feeding although I left out the grow and just gave em bioroot, diamond black, and bioweed {seaweed} and calmag+ , checked rootball and its time for a transplant and it will be done saturday. BTW I will be doing a test water post transplant on half of the plants (I might do all considering they will be larger and the light feeding went fine) with Heavy Nutes which is what everbody I talked to who uses the GO line does. However it will be fresh of/LW soil. Gimme some input on this. Also that reptile thermostat say its for heating, can it be used for cooling as well?

Update, I'm low on soil so I needed some for this saturdays transplant, from sat here on out ill be running a side by side with of/lw,5050 vs some good ol sunshine mix number 8, ill probably dedicate 1/2 from here on out using the sunshine. Prob finish 4 with the sunshine, ill also possibly depending on space in the room keep some in my 1 gallons to compare dry wt vs smart pots. Also the reason I got the sunshine was because I didn't wanna spend 50$ on soil I will only be in for 2 3 weeks tops. Thanks for stoppin by pics up sat after transplant.

ok so a little pic update. Also I have decided to wait till wednesday to transplant because that is when my light will for sure be here and the plants are more mature. If they are all not at the same stage and some are smaller would it harm them to be transplanted early?2011-02-26 11.18.21.jpg2011-02-26 11.17.21.jpg2011-02-26 11.17.37.jpg2011-02-26 11.17.29.jpg2011-02-26 11.18.28.jpg Im trying to do em all on the same day so I can wait a week and a half veg and flip on em for a week to sex .

As long as you're gentle with them, there should no harm if you transplant them all, even if some are a bit younger.
