weed doesn't need to live for years to fill a pot with roots. yeah these things are definitely better than regular pots I've seen this in every grow with them. Some people claim they can grow as fast as hydro in these pots with a good soil and micro organism build up. You won't go wrong getting them I have a bunch myself and they are great, the best place to get them from in the US (as far as I know) is growers-inc.com I would get .8, 2, or 5 gallon airpots as the .4s are only about as big as a red party cup and may dry out too quickly for seedlings? The pots are not as big as they look in the pictures, so make sure you consider there actual measurements when planning ahead. Heres a pic of my 2.5ft x 2.5ft x 6ft tent featuring a 395w (actual/total draw) 2011 growledhydro Spectra LED along with two .8 gallon airpots and three 2 gallon air pots.

PS: oh and my soil is just Ocean Forest with 1/3rd perlite and the .8 gallon pots I water ever other day and the 2 gallon airpots ever 3 days

Go with air pots or smart pots. Look into it. It all makes sense and is mimicking nature. Because when roots grow in soil it doesn't wrap around in circles bouncing off a plastic surface it keeps growing out looking for more moisture. And thats what these pots do they let roots think they are just growing out, then they are getting air pruned. Thus not getting pot bound and that will cause probs and lockups and my exp. taking longer too finish.

ive grown my last to batches in 3 gallon airpots filled to about 2 gallons.

Here is some advice.

-I got away with watering every other day, but i had bigger pots with more soil to hold water in.
-My smaller air pots did require near daily watering in flower.
-Since the air pots prune so well and promote root development so well, you can size down a size or maybe even two. But remember smaller pots = more watering for bigger plants.
-Put down .25-1inch layer of hydroton at the bottom to hold the soil in a bit better. This way soil doesnt fall out the bottom. I have also seen people put pantyhose around the bottom disk.
-When putting soil in them, make sure you pack he soil down well. As the sides of the pot are not smooth, u may miss some nooks and crannies so the soil will start filling those gaps and start lowering in level.
-If using coco, be ready for daily watering regardless of pot size lol
-LST with the pots seems to be teh way to go since there are already holes everywhere on them.
-be careful when tightening the holding screw. it breaks very easily.
-make sure the log side with plugged up holes is the top of the pot. This way water catches at the top rather than pooling up and escaping through a hole.

fave fun!

Um I don't think so, when screwing with mine ;) It was rather difficult and those things were very strong and I actually hurt myself a couple times and definitely never over did it enough to break anything

Dude you don't know your own strength! And why didn't you fill your pots to the top?

And you shouldn't need to water every other day unless you are using .8 gallon airpots or smaller. I'm simply using Ocean Forest and 1/3rd perlite and my 2 gallon air pot plants definitely only need to be watered every 3 days or maybe even 4. A five gallon airpot should need to be watered even less often.

-make sure the log side with plugged up holes is the top of the pot. This way water catches at the top rather than pooling up and escaping through a hole.
I always manage to forget this on at least 1 plant

I think i had the first gen pots, they were a tad diff i think.

I did fill to the top, i just placed the bottom screen up higher :)

I guess my girls are jsut drinkers :) by lights on day 2, the pots are bone dry. could be also due to massive roots from micros and fungi and what not

-one last note, the pots are BIG. they may not look too big but they are fat due to the spikey things and tall. my 3 gallon took the same space a 5gallon bucket did almost! but since most people are worried about lateral space, try and get dimensions.

You think with it bring gpod to the roots i can get away with the soil being shallower? Heights not to good in my grow tent, so every bit counts

Ive bought 1, 6 and 10 litre size air pots. Got some seedlings in the 1 litre pots doing very well so far. I use coco and have only watered every 3-4 days for the little seedlings.

if height is an issue, i reccomend smart pots. They are a great alternative and do just as well as my airpots pretty much. I started growing in coco exclusively recently and am only using smart pots at the moment. coco in an air pot was just too much work, but if done right i can see it being a great challenger against DWC/Hydro setups :)

Il have to look up smart pots, my frow rooms probabily just under 5 foot
5 foot from light to ground? or top of tent to ground?

for something that limited, you will probably need some training to keep them low. i plan on doing a just for fun grow in a space about that tall but will be doing heavy training to keep them short.

Easiest thing to do in a space that small, in my opinion, is to build a bed and just put 3-4 plants in there

Air pots are awesome , Some say they are messy but i have never had any issues with them .

I grow from clones and i just pop them straight into the Air pots as soon as they take root ... Then when they are ready for flowering ... I drop them into a bigger bucket of Coco ... No messing about ... No transplant shock ...they go crazy :)

Why too much work? Once the pots are full of coco pressed in they are not messy at all, you do get little bits of coco in the runoff but just take it slowly with watering it's no hardship. The air pots will be removed very easily when potting up without damging any roots.

I seen a Thread where a guy said his Air purning pots outgrow his DWC plants, But I cant find it anywhere. dam
