led bulbs gonna last you way longer than 20000 hours bro some comps claiming 100000 before they're too low to be useful for anything but veg
Depending on their rating i would have to say yes. But it's the fans that will more than likely be the problem(fail). I would like to think i might never have to buy anything that would have to do with lighting for 7.5 to 10 years. Thats just happy thinking. By then plasma lighting will be the past. Here's to the future *BONG*

Now that is another awesome thing about LED's.
Even when they've dimmed too much for flowering purposes (after several years), they more or less become veg lights.
So the 1080W of LED I'm running now in my bloom room, will eventually become a 1080W veg area.
I can't even imagine what I'd be running for flowering in such a far off future, but I have plenty of time to decide.

I wish there was more info on LED units available to the market. Anyone have any suggestions on manufaturers, models etc?

everyone gonna tell ya to use what they been using even me but so far ecogroled has everyone beat in service i had plant problems and they saved my baby and kept me on track to almost a gram per watt theyve got their online contact ifo at the bottom of the page and theyre up till like 2am cali time to deal with international and late-night problems they also have stuff to show that proves they know their stuff their research shed is badass and im jealous i want a setup like that

I have been looking at the Spectra LED 450 2011 model from growledhydro.com, its been proven to work by documented grows. Unfortunately they refuse to disclose the exact nanometers of light. They do boast using 9 differn't colors in their LED array and 12 seperate isolated wavelengths.

http://www.earthshineledlights.com/
There is a local company that produces LED units, but I cant find much history of use with these units.

300 1 Watt 350 mA LEDs, Red (620-630 nm), Blue (460-470 nm) and Orange (600-615 nm). AC 110V/230V±10%V, 7000 lm, 50,000 hr lifetime.

These do look decent, they seem to only have red and blue though. Thanks +rep

the growledhydro Spectra lights are getting run through a light lab, we will have much more info on their light output in a month its been said. I think its been kept a secret for awhile because they believed they had found the best wavelengths for cannabis and wanted to keep it a trade secret for awhile. I think that is changing once the results from the lab get back. And the new ones you speak of have not been long enough to finish any grows. There might be just a couple with the newest 2011 models but they wouldn't have had much time if any for veg. All the journals were done with older models that have not the better output of these even newer models. You can expect even better results with the new lights than the ones used in most journals.

Where should I be looking for the results of this test? I plan on purchasing two units in 1.5 months

if what i read and understand (or not) theres only 6 peaks and only 4 of those apply to earth plants while the others apply to sea plants maybe the grow light guy knows i keep telling him to come here and talk but he says its too late because marketing and big numbers already tainted people

i know he says red and blue are the only needed colors and that anything else is a bonus but not really needed but he said that regular trees and hardwoods need green light for proper bark

Side thought, Why isnt there a LED section on this site with some stickys and such. Come on rollitup obviously LED is worthy at least.

And I'm not in the business of selling LED and if you actually read some of this thread you would know the blackstar 240's don't use 240w. Try again! Look back on the thread and do the math again and the last time I worked with a 400w MH/HPS, it sucked!! You have to at least be rocking a 600w to go beyond your mama's shoe closet, and I'm not all that familiar with the Blackstar. Had my first real life look at one the other night. From everything I've seen 2 240's will go above and beyond your big bad 400 w switchable MH/HPS. Even when using those old antique systems you want to use a bulb that is heavier in the blue when vegging and switch it to a red dominant during flowering. That was grow tech even before LED was being pushed. I know HPS users that use LEDs to enhance their grow without switching out their bulbs. They report adding LED and instantly growing fatter tighter buds so believe what you want to but enough growers have switched that your LED hating is losing traction. Evolve or go instinct!
lmao, you know, you did, you will, you are, stfu, post some pic's and stop whining about me thinking you are full of crap.

Ad hominem attacks weaken your argument. Use fact and evidence to prove your point. A light mover and a 400w HPS will increase coverage but it will never cover my needs or many other's needs on here. Talking about how you use LED with HPS is one thing but this thread is to compare LED units not to constantly rehash this HPS/ LED argument.
Do you ever stop talking the same crap ? page 248 say what your going to say and be done ! dam
Below is my auto blueberry, auto widow and lowryder #2 grow

Where is your pics 660nm420 ?

Check out irish boys LED. Pretty impressive. To take things to a even higher level look at the chameleon plasma/led lights. Hate on LED thats fine look at plaama and you can have another target. Funny how NASA uses LED to grow food in space....isnt it?,,,

To help develop technologies for growing edible biomass (food crops) in space, NASA partnered with a small business in Wisconsin. Orbital Technologies Corporation (ORBITEC), located in Madison, is one of the state’s leading developers of new and cutting-edge aerospace technologies. The company has been awarded over $125 million in government contract funds over the course of more than 180 contracts, most of which were through commercial contracts that began in the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Over the course of its extensive government work, ORBITEC was awarded Wisconsin’s “Professional Service Business of the Year” in 1995 and received the “Tibbets Award” both in 1996 and 1999 from the Small Business Administration. The “Tibbets Award” acknowledges small businesses that have performed exceptionally well within the SBIR program. One of the highlights of ORBITEC’s space-related work includes the 2002 launch of its Biomass Production System aboard STS-110 for a 73-day stay aboard the International Space Station.

Yeah they did utilize this technology in space along with areoponics utilizing atomization for obvious reasons. Yes research in space was discontinued in space under this particular program and continues on the ground. Point is, its obviously going to be a step forward in technology for horticulture. Like products that draw water from the air to feed plants that are grown with low consumption lights to feed millions of hungry people. Just sayin

Seriosly, look at plasma lighting combined with LED, it will change the world once the technology gets its footing. How many street lights are in your city and on your freeways?

that was back in 2002 man tech advanced way loads since then i bet prolly using shit like sponge effect or something to keep nutes and water to the plants while led does the rest
