UPDATE; Day 45
LB - 4 days since super topping & last update.
Start--------> end
Basicly just more pinning and a bit of trimming up. Frankly, I'm surprised. As mentioned before, normally I would of culled this as a
too slow grow. But if one really likes sativas and don't mind a bit of slowness, this may work for limited space / light penetration after all. Pleasantly surprised!
SSH - 8 days since last update
Basicly, the best of the lot at this point. Already reached the rim in spots and seeing at least a 1/2 doz. possible clones getting close to ready. Having been pinning and grooming right along,, today we just moved a few pins.
JH - 8 days since...
I just love growing Jacks. Soooo hard to do something wrong with it.
Believe it of not, there are at least a 1/2 doz. clones developing in there to be used in about 10 days or so if wanted.
Basicly just repinned to try and open the middle a bit and topped it looking for a split. Gonna need a decision shortly because the center is too dense. I'll need to establish what willbe clone and dump the rest for the overall good. But, not quit yet.
Noticed the smell is getting really good too. LOL (maturing nicely)
BW - 4 days since topping
Big disapointment here. I expected this to do best of all,, certainly better than the sativa. This is one of those that if I tried this technique on first, I would of been lead to the conclusion, "Does not work". It hates being groomed or trained in most ways. I've never grown straight indica before that I can remember. Probably not something I would choose. This is only here because it was a free UFO with an order.
At this point I'm pulling it from the grow as such. Any further training / defoliating / etc. will be minimized. Plant will be allowed to grow out as long as it doesn't get in the way or create issues for the others (thinking room) Presently there seems to be 8 runners and probably 2 top splits. 10 colas isn't that bad I guess, but below standard for production on a style like this.
No further updates on this Blue Widow are expected except for maybe a passing mention from time to time. (considered failure)
THOUGHTS;
Still, this is not a
always works method. However, on mixed strains it appears to be good. And surprisingly I'm interested in trying more of the LBs.
The
"doesn't always work" I have blamed on strain. Figured the more sativa the less effective / more indica the more receptive. I was wrong.
Still don't know why it fails sometimes.
Time to start planning on my next grow.....
