Things are right on schedule to start harvesting the first chronic and the afghan in early March. Hopefully the wonder woman will be ready for transplant and training by the end of February.

wow man you always got a great pic update of the plants.
they are looking great to by the way, i just saw your post on the lst thread but forgot to reply so i am doing so here.
keep up the great work man.

I will be taking a bunch of pics today as I add 66% more watts to my flower box. :hump:

Cliff Notes (pics later):

I went to the grow store today for some big bottles of Hygrozyme for my feedings and SnowStorm Ultra and Sweet for the in-between feeding 'rain' days. I couldn't afford the ridiculously-priced GO SubCulture mixes, so the guy behind the counter (and a customer) suggested I try something else instead - Roots Organic: Oregonism - http://www.planetnatural.com/site/oregonism-xl.html

Also on my shopping list was a cheap (non air-cooled) lume-wing and (not cheap) Horilux MH lamp for the flower box.

I ran another e-cord from a different circuit to power my 600w HPS and new 400w MH lamps. I added the old 400w switchable ballast to the bottom of the veg room area, that was only used 12 days in my flower box before I upgraded to a 600w HPS. It has been sitting on the shelf, with the $90 Hortilux HPS lamp, since the end of October. I have an electrician friend, who is also a caregiver, that will be running me some new circuits in the near future so I can get rid of these 25' e-cords.

I moved my air-cooled hood a few inches to one side with some new hooks and made room to hang the new 400w MH lamp fixture. One of my upper (non-oscilating) fans was removed, as was the un-filtered intake line for the air-cooled hood. I just got it all sorted out and the temps rose +5 degrees F in each room before the 600w HPS was warmed back up. I just closed the flower box door/cover and will check my temps in an hour or 2.

(pics later):......

Pics of my mutant 'kush' baby, and the 400w Horti MH upgrade for flower. I will be upgrading my veg 400w MH to Horti in the near future also. I have a barely used 400w hps horti lamp I could have used, instead of buying a $70 MH lamp, but I am hoping the mixed spectrum will be better for it.

1000w/9.44 sq ft = 105.9w/sq ft
1000w/6 plants = 166.67w/plant
92k + 36k lumens = 128,000 lumens
128,000/9.44 = 13,559/sq ft.

dam man, that is alot of nutes to be using to just grow some weed.
i noticed you had a soil ph meter. where did you get yours and how much? ive been trying to find one for a decent price

I know, the GO line is ridiculous with so many different bottles: 6 nutes, 2 fert's, and 2 sub-cultures. The Roots Organic Oregonism is what I am trying in place of the GO Sub-Culture B & M. The GO subcultures are $70 per small tub and the Oregonism was only $20 for a smaller tub.

I got the 2 prong pen meter at the local hydro shop when I first started, but it really sucks for proper measuring. I mostly just use it for the light-meter now. I prefer measuring the runoff with the good digital meter to figure my soil pH.

hey those guys make that out of the state i live in oregon.

and thanks for the info on the ph meter, i just need one to test my soil i am using out side this summer, i only need to use it once or twice to make sure my ph is ok. i have a digital one but it is not made to measure the ph of soil

dam man, that is alot of lights to be using to just grow some weed.......

I agree, it is friggin bright in here now!!!!

Here are some random (un-labeled) pics from the garden this morning, a new air-pail under construction, and some root-pruning pics from CH#10 (18 days into flower) as she got her wk2 flower rain/supplements. I moved everyone out of the flower box in the afternoon, and did a photo-shoot one-by-one under the new mixed-spectrum lighting. I will label and post them later, but I am slightly drunk already, so it may have to wait until tomorrow (or the next photo-shoot).

i didnt mean alot of light i meant nutes

That bucket looks awesome bro!! i have been thinking of making something like this.

You say root pruning, does that mean say if you close to harvest and maybe need to transplant, that you wont have to with these buckets.

or are they constructed just to get more air to the ball of roots. an still need to make sure and have a good pot size before flowering.

i guess whats the benefit from that compared to a 5gal with holes at the bottom

When the roots get to the edge of the pail they hit the fabric/mesh and are hopefully caught so they dont start spiraling the pail. Once the tip of the root is exposed to air it will die off and cause that root to branch out back inside the pail. This makes for a healthier root system and should eliminates root circling. This is what Smart Pots and Air Pots do by design.

The chronic clones I veg'd in #2 smart pots and transplanted to 3.5ga air-pails didnt miss a beat after transplanting. The roots just explode into the fresh dirt of a new container. I am now using #1 smart pots for veg until they are ready for transplanting and training in the 3ga air-pails and tomato cages.

sunchokes-blue-potatoes-002-smart-pot-label.jpg

Here is where I first read how to DIY the pails - https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/360125-new-growers-needed-grow-lab.html#post4545774

You can do the same with your 5 gal pails. I use the 3.5ga pails mostly for height reasons. My first flower run had 7qt pots so 3.5ga seemed like a less extreme step than 5ga pails. I did flower one of my first plants in a 5ga pail and it took forever for it to dry between feedings/waterings.

I just picked up 3 more pails yesterday that say they are 3ga. I already put holes in one of them and will be doing another one of them today. I have a couple 3ga smart pots I was going to flower in also, but after flowering my first chronic in a 2ga smart pot I dont like it. They are awkward/difficult to move around compared to a plastic pail with a sturdy lip I can grab, so I will be making more DIY Air-Pails.

DIY Air-Pail: The newest one has 12 1-3/4" holes around the center and alternating 2" and 1" holes at the top and bottom of the pail. I am trying a single layer of pet mesh this time instead of a double layer.

Well i have to say that is brilliant, im going to have to start using those and making my own.

i was currently running 6 plants in 7gal in flower and 5 gal in veg. but it just feels like to much dirt lol.

im not currently using 1gal. than when they get root bound i transplant to 3gal. than flower a week later.

but if i could make those root pales i could veg a little longer maybe more like 2 or 3 weeks after transplant than flip them and not have to worry.

well anyways im going to have to keep a close eye on this thread and see your outcome. than ill start customizing those buckets lol

Good news: my latest seed order arrived with 3 WoS Afghan Kush Special seeds.

Bad News: my bagseed afghan showed nanners today at 62 days into flower, while getting her week 9 nutes. That's what I get for using bagseed. :wall:

I am going to try and setup another timer and put her in the downstairs bathroom, where I normally put them for dark/drying, to give her a few more days to try and help finish. I would like her drink the last dose of nutes before I give her a flush, and drown her for 3 days in the dark.

hey man every thing look good, and sounds good besides the nanners but it should be fine if she is at week 9.
i love your updates man but every tiome i come to the thread it takes me about 10 mins to load the page with the huge pics on theri, ill still stop in but it takes to long for me to let it all load.

That sucks for you, as I was just going to post a bunch more pics. Just open another tab/thread while it loads. The photo upload/posting system built into these forums is terrible, as are many other things on this forum, so you will have to deal with my full size photobucket pics. I hate threads with clickable thumbnails, especially if they open a new tab/window for the image.
