Cheap 2 in 1 AirConditioner/Carbon Dioxide

So i'm posting this here because for the most part, we CFLers are a cheap DIY bunch, and so I was surfing the ol' YouTube and came across a cheap DIY AC unit. Not the design I would use for AC, but it sparked an idea... what if you replaced the frozen water bottles in this video with dry ice? I've worked with the stuff and a 5" block lasted all day without insulation sitting next to the dumpster in 70+ degree weather, so I know it'll last a little while in a cooler. It might cool your area a couple degrees, but dual purpose! That dry ice is a constant stream of CO2 as it warms up. Whatcha think?? Obviously, for any real CO2 benefits, this'll have to be tested with a PPM meter on the air, but seems like a 20 dollar setup, and where I live dry ice isn't very expensive. Not to mention dry ice would pump out WAY colder air than just frozen water in bottles. At least for a once or twice a week application, seeing as you can easily store dry ice in your freezer. This is NOT my video, and I'd like to extend my thanks to the person who originally posted it.

Made something to this effect a while back! I took a Ziploc container and drilled pencil sized holes in two rows all around the top and put a small ducting elbow in the top of the lid and put a small pc fan on the end of it. Cooled off my cabinet a good 5 degrees or so and a large block of dry ice lasts quite some time!

THANK YOU!!! I've been thinking of ways to make a homemade AC unit cheaply.

No problem, thats what we're here for, right?

Right on, i just figure I could get all the materials together for a few bucks, and yeah, big blocks of dry ice DO last a long time. Glad to hear some decent feedback on the idea.

Very cool, something I never would have thought of. I am definitely going to be making a smaller version of this for my closet grow. +rep for the find!

No problem, lemme know how it works out, and what kinda fan you end up using. I'll piece one together between now and next paycheck probably and we can see how well it works for growing. If anyone builds their own, post pics/video!
